    Pros +

    • We stayed at Mövenpick which was right across from Petra, perfect walking distance, staff were amazing and offered a later check out as we got lost in Petra and were away a little longer than expected
    • As Grand Mercure Petra is still under reconstruction, we've spent our time in the Mövenpick Resort Petra. It was perfect, breakfast was nice. It also has 2 dining options, buffet and a-la carte. The food is delicious, the room is spacious and well-maintained. Pity we didn't have time to check SPA options.
    • We were upgraded to the Movenpick hotel for our stay which has an exceptional location, just across the road from the Petra's visitor centre. The food, welcoming staff and beautiful interiors made for an excellent stay.Special thanks to Rasha for making our stay great.

    Cons -

    • I can not think of anything that should be changed or improved. It was a great place to stay.
    • Breakfast was lacking, fitness center very old and dated with broken equipment.
    • Every thing

We were upgraded to the sister hotel Movenpick. Breakfast was great and varied across cuisines

The Grand Mecure upgraded my family to their partner hotel, The Movenpick. This hotel was conveniently located across the road from the Petra Visitor's center which made it so easy to visit the site. Additionally, the staff went out of their way to welcome us and ensure that we had all that we needed for our stay.

I can not think of anything that should be changed or improved. It was a great place to stay.

This is a review for the Movenpick, as we were upgraded since the Grand Mercure was closed. The Movenpick was fine. Service was very good and rooms were clean. Selection at the breakfast was lacking, variety was very small and the buffet was almost empty both days we were there at 9:00. I think the hotel was mostly empty during this time but I would have expected better breakfast. Everything was just OK, but again we were upgraded and paid Grand Mercure prices for the Movenpick, I would not have been so content if we paid Movenpick prices.

Breakfast was lacking, fitness center very old and dated with broken equipment.

We were upgraded to Mövenpick hotel, which was a good deal, the location is perfect, the place is nice and clean.

The rooms on the 4 th floor are extremity noisy, I woke up at 6 am on doors slapping, shouting and every time any one moves on the floor u hear it well. Briefly, v bad insulation and I think they put all mercure diverted clients on that floor which is the last quiet..

None. Only proximity to Petra main gate.

Upon arrival in Petra, my excitement turned to dismay as I realized that the hotel I had booked, Grand Mercure Petra, was closed without any prior notice. Instead, I was redirected to Movenpick Petra, an unwelcome surprise that tainted my entire stay.First and foremost, the lack of communication from Grand Mercure Petra about their closure and the subsequent relocation to Movenpick Petra was utterly unacceptable. This disregard for informing guests of such a significant change caused unnecessary inconvenience and financial strain, as I had to pay an additional 50 JOD to the driver for the extra trip.Upon reaching Movenpick Petra, any remaining hope for a pleasant stay quickly dissipated. The food served was nothing short of atrocious. I ordered a sandwich, only to be met with a stale, inedible mess. The chicken within was so tough it might as well have been a rock. Despite providing feedback to the server about the appalling quality of the meal, I was still expected to pay the full amount, compounding the insult to injury.Furthermore, the attitude of the staff at Movenpick Petra left much to be desired. Their demeanor was consistently rude, and their treatment of guests, particularly those of Indian descent like myself, was disturbingly tinged with racism. Such discriminatory behavior is utterly unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of the establishment. The only redeeming quality of Movenpick Petra is its proximity to the Petra archaeological site. However, this single positive aspect does little to outweigh the multitude of negatives that marred my experience. In conclusion, my stay at Movenpick Petra was an unmitigated disaster. From the lack of communication regarding the closure of Grand Mercure Petra to the appalling food quality, rude staff, and evident racism, it was a series of disappointments and frustrations. I strongly advise future travelers to steer clear of this e

The staff allowed us to check in early and provided a room upgrade. The hotel is amazing; it really looks like a castle. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had—you can enjoy delicious food in the restaurant. The reception was very kind.

Although we received a room upgrade, the air conditioning did not work, and the room was a bit cold. We reported this, but nothing changed. Additionally, the door did not close properly. We also encountered issues with the in-room dinner; I ordered "scallops," but they brought me "chicken escallops," insisting it was what I ordered. In the end, the head chef came to the room, assured me everything was fine, and changed my meal without any extra charge.

The hotel is great but the staff is amazing, really nice and always helpful. Special mention goes to Yousef B. at the reception, who was really always trying to make my stay special, employees like that make a hotel truly special.

Nothing really. If anything make sure you always have info about Petra available so that guests can plan.

    The staff were friendly.

Very out dated hotel. Indoor pool only, too cold to swim. Most hotels have an outdoor pool. Food was average but not worth the price. TV and some electric points did not work. Definitely not a five star hotel.
