    Pros +

    • Weather, close to Portugal, good price.
    • Place in full of mosquitos. It desperately need a good exterminator and a long term plan. Older building is very noisy. People are very nice
    • It's well located for the town of Isla Cristina and quite modern, with pleasant views towards the sea. Good breakfast selection.

    Cons -

    • Food diversity, animation team, beverages like beer outside breakfast and dinner option.
    • The hotel has a Butlins holiday camp vibe. It seems to cater to families with young children who are looking for a resort-type of holiday, with everything on-site. While that's great if you're their target audience, it wasn't what we were looking for. While the breakfast selection was wide, the quality was just 'good enough'. This is not a cheap hotel, so we expected something rather more luxurious.
    • Staff could improve a lot in niceness. Breakfast not worth of a 4 star hotel. Constant noise from the corridors until super late at night

Due to a booking error on the hotels side, we were upgraded to a large suite. The room was spacious and suited us well. The kids entertainment is not suited for non Spanish or French speaking persons. The kids entertainment on the stage had a French translator, I’m not sure why being so far away from France. Being close to the Portuguese border I would have thought that would be more use or even English for the numerous other parties that couldn’t join in. The buffet food was great value for money, plenty of choice and well recommended. The choice of draft and bottled beers is very poor.

The location near the beach and town is excellent. The hotel is massive and seems to be used a lot for tours and package holidays. They have events in the large foyer which can be very noisy. The rooms are large and comfortable and there's a fridge but missing a kettle or coffee machine. Overall we had a good stay. Staff were quit friendly

    Onsite restaurant

Reception ladies were not helpful at all with the check in. They referred us to call their international reservation line and when I mentioned our phone wouldn’t work international she rebutted stating yes it would, it’s a phone. We were then asked to complete the check in via a website as they are only available to help Mon-Fri and we arrived Saturday. There were very few people checking in. The ladies that I’m referring to were the blonde with shorter hair and the younger gal with curly long hair Not helpful at all.

Smoking in the pool.Low variety of food on breakfast.Reception staff very slow and not organized.

The food was lovely in the hotel. A great choice each meal and really delicious. It would have been useful if there were signs on the dishes eg for allergies/vegetarian etcThe hotel was very clean throughoutIt was good that there were enough sunbeds, as people were not allowed to leave towels on them for hours, when not using them. This can often be a problem on holiday, but it was good to know here that there would be some available when you came off the beach.

I guess our children didn't feel like it was easy to ask about the children's club/activities, as their Spanish is limited, so didn't really get involved this year in this, which they usually love.We didn't see all inclusive as an option (that I remember) when we booked and you are at a disadvantage here if you are not all inclusive, as there is a lot extra for people with wristbands. We were pulled up by security one day, by the pool, when entering the hotel from the back door (off the beach). They thought we had got into the hotel pool and were not guests, as we had no wristbands on and asked us questions/checked with reception, to see if we were telling the truth. This wasn't a great experience for us, as we felt like we had done something wrong, but I understand they must have to check this with people from time to time.We booked for 4 children and 2 adults, but when we arrived, they had only got a reservation for 2 children/adults. This was quickly resolved and a pop up bed was put in each room, however, we had requested 11 months before to have the rooms next to each other, which they were not and we didn't have a sea view which I also requested. The mix up with the reservation was however, Boooking.com, who had not communicated the correct information sadly.

The entertainment was absolutely great. The location being so close to the beach was also lovely. The facilities were also good.

We paid for ‘all inclusive’ only for not everything to actually be included. I was shocked to find that when I asked for an ice cream at the bar they told us it wasn’t included in our package.

Swimming pool, exterior space was good and will taken care of. Great to have swimming pool protection during the night, so kids can walk “freely”

Room floor was not properly clean, there was always some dust. Restaurant was way too crowded and sometimes too warm/smoke.

    4AndrePosted on: 8-29-2024

    close to the beach

only uggly people, to noisy, dated. if you don’t go very early to the breakfast and dinner, you will be in deep trouble with lots of people fighting and queing for food. terrible. the pool is small for the amount of people

    6DavidPosted on: 8-29-2024

The hotel was clean, the staff were mostly friendly and the nearby beach was within easy walking distance, with a nice beach bar and some watersports.Isla Christina is an easy drive from lots of nice towns, beaches etc. and also close to Portugal so we had several lovely day trips with the kids.

This was a bit like travelling back in time to my childhood holidays from the 1980s. The hotel was very busy, with sun loungers crammed in to every available space. If you weren’t by the pool by about 11:30, you could forget about getting a sun lounger. The main pool was a decent size, but was shallow pretty much throughout so fine if you don’t like swimming. The entertainment started at midday and lasted until about midnight. Mostly not a problem but a break from it would have been nice. The food was decent but, after a few days, it became a bit predictable and we enjoyed going out for meals.

    Room space and food.

Not enough seats by the pool.

    9TiagoPosted on: 7-25-2024

The rooms, the variety of food and the staff

The pools are awesome in terms of size bur in terms of depth they are short... 160 cm maximum is not good... If this 160 cm was the major part of the pool it woukd be ok... But is just a small part with that depth... The rest is 100 cm, 105 cm...

    5PhilipPosted on: 6-16-2024

    Location.Food was good.

Shower over bath, with a wide ledge which made access quite dangerous. We selected your hotel because we saw it had an adult pool, which unfortunately was closed for the duration of our stay. We particularly don’t like to use pools with lots of small children, due to past unpleasant experience. Whenever we used our balcony, which was a good facility, there were people smoking somewhere below us.Although I mentioned this to reception on the first day, the smoking problem continued.

Great location, 5 minutes walking to the beach. Very nice pool and outside area. Rooms are big and clean. Good variety of drinks at the pool bar for all inclusive guests. Staff at the pool and bar were very nice.

Very strict rules, everything is paid extra including the safe in the room. The schedules do not make sense: pool is only open between 10h30 and 19h, although guests receive information that it is open until 19h30. Either way, it is very early considering in the summer the sun only sets at 21h. Lunch is from 13h to 15h, it starts very late. At the restaurant, cleanliness is poor, the majority of dishes and cutlery are dirty. The food lacks variety and flavour, it was disappointing. During the weekend there was a DJ at the pool that ruined our rest. Music was very loud and people were complaining. It did not make sense to have that type of music almost all day.

    Pleasant

A few things not compatible wit a 4 star hotel:One of the pools didn't open with no explanation or apologies. Our two bedroom apartment was facing the back and that information is not given when booking. Not only is it quite ugly but there was a concert at this space (outside the hotel) until very late at nightThe ceiling fan of one of the rooms was not working.Charged two nights of parking when we only used it once Too high of a price for such facilities/ service

    9PeterPosted on: 5-22-2024

Great value for money.Isla Christina a little disappointing though. Its a hotel set up for catering for large numbers/groups/conferences but rooms clean and good size and nice pool and bar area.

A little too large and Isla Christina was disappointing on restaurant options.
