Barcelo Isla Canela

Great location, 1 minute walk from the beach, restaurants and supermarket. Room was spacious and well decorated. Mattress was very comfortable. Staff is friendly and willing to help, for example, they offered to keep ours bags on the last day, so we could enjoy the facilities after checking out. The pool is nice and clean.

Could have been cleaner and could use some renovation. The fact that parking is not included in the price is an unpleasant surprise (it costs 15€ per day and you’re not told about it until you’re there). Old hairdryer, that takes forever.What would stop me from staying again is the fact the pool is totally crowded. The chairs are on top of each other, my feet would touch someone’s head if wasn’t careful, which makes it uncomfortable.

The idea was to relax and have a pleasant stay. However, we had to deal with more than 300 kids, parents and coaches that arrived the 2nd day because there was a football tournament. Everything turned into a "jungle" as there was no supervision. The kids were touching the food with their fingers, tasting the desserts and making a lot of noise until very late. There was no peace and quiet in the pool and other areas due to the lack of civility on the part of this large group. It was a bad idea to mix elderly people and couples who were looking for peace with this uneducated group.Another negative point is paying 15euros a day for the car park. It is unjustifiable.

Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was fine but nothing great.

Transport to and out of isla canela was very poor. A local bus was available but ran ona limited, irregular schedule. Taxi was 12 euro to Ayamonte. No train or bus ran out of Ayamonte to the Algarve in Portugal. A ferry ran into Portugal but again hours were limited. The beaches were wide but constantly windswept. Businesses on the beach put up screens to block the wind. The pool was cold. Coffee was only available when the restaurant was open for breakfast.

The buffet was very good, the staff was very nice, and we really liked the entertainment activities

Beautiful atmosphere, close to the beach, friendly staff, comfortable bed.

Not the hotel's fault but the area needs more taxis.

Pay for car parking was high.Paying for a safe, I travel all over Europe and Asia with work and for leisure and have never paid for a safe. It was not even the amount, but the principle of it. Come on seriously you need $3 per day for a safe?! If you must charge add it into the room cost so I don’t see it and get annoyed.

Fridge in the room, that is not a fridge?? So it's a glass fronted cupboard that looks like a fridge? Very disappointing that we could not keep the bottle of cava I paid for on arrival for a special occasion cold.

Very good location, near the beach.

Sometimes is hard to find place near the hotel where to eat, in day time restaurants are not working, only in evening.

We were happy to spend our vacation in this hotel. The service was definitely great and the staff were friendly. We were impressed by the variety of food and drinks - every dish and drink was delicious. There is a large beach within walking distance, which was nice to spend time on. The hotel had organized daytime and evening leisure activities in a great way, including water, sports activities, etc.Also we were very happy to get a present from the staff with my man – a bottle of sparkling wine. The hotel is definitely worth visiting again!

Our room was upgraded and had a central position overlooking the pool. The hotel was relatively quiet, so we had a peaceful nights sleep. Our room was very clean and the bed was huge. Breakfast had lots of variety. The hotel is over the road from the beach. It was all good.

Parking was 14 euros a night, but I think should be free for guests. You can park in the street though.

Friendly staff and great location

Air con wasn’t good and room was mosquito infested. We checked out after one sleepless bug bitten night. Dinner plus drinks for one night was hugely expensive ( €170) for two people when compared to restaurants in the area.

Very quiet location at this time of the year and a stunning beach. Pool and Gym were excellent.

Not all rooms have a bath and we had to move rooms to get one and to get WiFi in the room.

This is a large modern hotel immaculate with excellent facilities and very good buffet style restaurant As a coastal resort hotel this is first class and genuine 4 star with a short walk to the beach

Room was spacious as was the bathroom. The pool area was comfortable and there were activities going on. Being so close to the beach was an advantage. The sunsets are spectacular!

That we had to pay for loungers on the beach, perhaps the hotel guests could have this included in their hotel stay as a perk.

We only stayed one night. All facilities are there, You don't need to go out. I personally call it a gigantic holiday factory, If you like that, it is superb. You will need transport to the nice city center of Ayamonte which is close by.Strange that for such a room we need to ask for coffee and tea supply for the tea/coffee machine in the room, Because it was not supplied as standard.Also extremely weird that you have to pay for the safe in the room, 3 euro's per day! These are hidden fees that should not occur. (That's a nice addittional ~ 1000 euro per day income for the hotel , Smart !!!)

The location is very good as it is on the beach. The rooms are comfortable and the best thing is that the mattress has a soft topper

The dining hall is noisy and it is difficult to move from one station to the next at pick times. The starters and desserts are served in the smallest of glasses and the salad bar lacks variety. Having come from a 4 star hotel from Conil, the Barcelo feels more like a 3 star hotel.

Food quality could be better - nice choice/variety but some options lacking in quality.

Sand and hair on the floor everywhere, the room wasn't cleaned properly. Paper-thin doors with hard stone floors outside means you'll wake up early by kids, trolleys and luggage in the hallway. Room with a view to the garbage bins that spread smell to the room and garbage truck loudly loading after midnight.
