Hotel D. Luis - Elvas

Lovely hotel and great location. Room was good size with refitted bathroom. Breakfast was excellent.

View of the aquaduct! Decor was pretty vintage & beautiful.

The elevator wasn’t working when we went there but everything else seemed quite well.

Not able to make a cup of tea. Only can get tea and coffee from vending machine. The restaurant was closed for event.

Good spacious room, very nice staff. Breakfast is good.

Mattress needs to be updated. Air conditioning could only be set to heat even when the room was very hot. Had to sleep with the window open.

The bed was comfortable, the room had a view of the aqueduct and it was clean. The staff we encountered were pleasant. The breakfast was good.

No bar or restaurant in the hotel.

I liked the location and the room was clean. I enjoyed breakfast.

Wonderful location for an overnight stop, and also pet friendly. The hotel couldn’t be closer to the iconic aqueducts in Elvas. Also it’s easy to reach from Badajoz, and to travel on via the A6. The beds were very comfortable, although the bed linen seemed old fashioned with a sheet and blanket (or two) for winter. My sister was in a room for guests with mobility issues (we requested on booking), and she said it was one of the best bathrooms set out for anyone needing mobility aids in the bathroom.

The only downside to the bathroom set out for guests with mobility issues is that there is a sliding door into the bathroom from the room. There’s the tendency for the water to leak near the track for the sliding door which means having to use towels to mop up the floor.

They advertise air conditioning but they turned off the air and now just have heat. Room was hot and stuffy.They could not do anything about it because they control room temperature from the front desk. Booked 3 days but had to find a hotel elsewhere. Found out that there are so many choices that ate better and more value than Don Luis.

Large room, good breakfast and very accommodating staff

The hotel was well located, the room was great and the Staff were excellent. It was very hot so we spent the afternoon by the pool.

Walking distance to town for more restaurants. Room was lovely, bed very comfortable. Clean bathroom. Parking was on opposite to the hotel, across the main road. Breakfast was enjoyable. Did not get to use the pool.

Nice, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast was also good. Reception helpful and booked us a taxi to go up and visit the Fort.

Impossible to use the swimming pool because it was monopolised by a large group of young people staying at the hotel.

Perfect location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast and a comfortable bed. We will return again the next time we come to Elvas!

Air con was making a lot of noise

Nice breakfast, with almost everything we can find on a Hotel breakfast. Nothing was surprizingly good, but nothing was bad. A regular breakfast.

Nice hotel conveniently situated.

Being charged more for my single room booked well in advance than my friends paid for a similar double booked on the day we arrived and the inflexible attitude of the reception staff who made no effort to correct the situation other than a lengthy explanation which failed to recognise or understand my dissatisfaction with the situation.As an ex owner of a Michelin recognised hotel there is no way I would have allowed this situation to occur in my hotel.

Good value, great location.

No kettle or mini fridge in room.

Room was fine. Parking is free but actually across the road in a dirt car park. Easy to find as on the ring road, and short drive to Fort Graca (Absolutely amazing). Easy walk (if up hill) to the old Town and right by the aqueduct.

WiFi was ok in the corridor, but poor in my room. Shower was hard to keep at a constant temp, kept fluctuating. Breakfast is OK, but it was better at the other hotels I stayed at in Portugal.
