About

Featuring a restaurant and a bar, Hotel Jardim is surrounded by Alentejo’s countryside. It offers an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers, 2.2 mi from Elvas. Recently renovated, the rooms at Jardim are simply decorated and all come with a private bathroom including free toiletries. Some of the rooms feature either a balcony or a terrace. Also, some rooms have a seating area with a plush sofa. Flôr do Jardim Restaurant serves à-la-carte meals. The bar offers drinks and late snacks. During summer time, the pool bar is also available for a relaxing drink by the pool. Guests can rent a bicycle on site to explore the World Heritage city of Elvas, or the peaceful countryside. There are laundry and ironing services for added convenience. The 24-hour reception is available to organize a shuttle service, and the Spanish city of Badajoz is only 6.2 mi away. Campo Maior, where the Flower Feast (Festas do Povo) is held is 12 mi away from Jardim Hotel.

    Pros +

    • Breakfast wonderful second stay at this hotel used pool yes food a little expensive but a wonderful place to stop staff very nice plenty of parking under cover out of the sun would always use again .
    • We liked the size of the room, very good. The beds were good. The property and bedroom was clean.
    • good breakfast

    Cons -

    • We thought the quality of the food ie breakfast/dinner was very average. Our room had an appalling issue with the drainage within the bathroom (room 7). An unholy pong! There are mossies in the fields to the rear, you will get bitten, keep windows shut at night. The hotel is great value but it is tired, it was modernised to a good standard 30 years ago (estimate) but very little has happened since.
    • very small beds, noisy at night and early morning.
    • A bit run down

Free parking in the front door, big room for a family. We had to use the restaurant for dinner and the food was good. Nice breakfast.

I think is a bit outdated...it needs a full renovation of the room, paint, carpets..in general.

    good parking

The hotel was locked up (3pm). I rang and rang the bell — ages before anyone opened the door. He seemed disappointed that I had distracted him.

This hotel has a fantastic restaurant - which was still packed with guests when I arrived at 3pm. Plenty of parking in front of the hotel. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Dinner service doesn't start until 8pm - but that's typical for Spain. Breakfast was a reasonable selection of continental options.

When we arrived we were greeted by the manger with hostility and a lack of civility because we spoke English and not Spanish. This place is in Portugal. When the son arrived he seemed lazy and unconcerned.

The management is the problem. I wanted to ask them why they went into the hospitality business. The older manager was rude and the rest of the staff was uninspired. They were no help and obviously did not care. The place looks nice, though it might be primarily for hookups. After that it was the worst stop on our tour by far.

The rooms were clean and private and there was fruit on offer at reception plus easy parking.

There did not seem to be enough staff and it was very difficult to get a cup of tea. Also we could hear the people above when they used their bathrooms.

Elvas is a lovely town and we have used this hotel before. A good walk into town but closer to the fort area where there are great dog walks and good views.

Bit tired . I needed a ground floor room so didn’t see upstairs as there is no lift. All ok for the money paid.

Swiming pool was open. We get 2 rooms with an extra beds aa we have ordered.

Not as much clean like schould be in 4 stars hotel. Dirty and distroyed carpet. Rooms stink a little bit. Windows in the room has a litle hole that the wind gets into. There was a flags just outside the windows that maid a lot of noice during the night. The staff in rooms and restaurant did not speak english nor spanish nor any other language then portuges.

Really pleasant place, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

The playground need to updated, seems not maintained the same as the other areas.

    3JonathanPosted on: 4-17-2022

    Restaurant good

No hotel receptionist. Cold room. Had to wait long time for any hot water in taps. Accommodation very tired - needs attention and update. Only person remotely interested in responding to our queries was the manager of the restaurant who was clearly only concerned with the restaurant and unable to communicate in English.

Parking on site, nice restaurant and bar, cute hotel. Easy to find, quiet, comfortable bed, good shower.

    Miserable checkin

Location was good but everything else was disappointing.

When we arrived, there was nobody at reception. We rang a bell several times but nobody appeared despite us hearing manager shouting and arguing with another person. A room cleaner appeared and gave us a room key. The This room was grubby and small. Sheets on bed were grey and thin and with stains. Bedcovers and curtains were stained. After waiting at reception for some time, we were given a bigger room. It was just ok but not of the quality expected. At dinner, I ordered roast chicken. When served, some pieces had blood running. Waiter took back to kitchen and brought back but some pieces were still showing blood. Chicken in this state is very dangerous to eat. Told waiter to take away as I had totally lost my appetite. Tried to charge us for chicken and had to be told that we were not prepared to pay. My partner's meal was pork and was cooked but not to be recommended either. Breakfast was poor. Empty plate where croissants should have been. Coffee machine out of order.
