    Pros +

    • I loved the modern feel in a historic Castelo overlooking the ocean, marina, and city. Great lounging area with a pool and smaller sitting pool. Walking around the property offered cool viewpoints and a sense of a different time.
    • Location, ambiance, views, people, and food were all top notch.
    • I like the location. Close to the harbor but more quiet. I enjoyed the ambiance and the views. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Cons -

    • Shower was a bit difficult to get in and out of, could be tricky if you’re sending your older family.
    • We had some issues with hot water. And, when I shut off the light next to my bed, the entire electrical outlet went off, so my CPAP machine went off as well. I had to loosen light bulbs in order to get a dark room and a functional CPAP. We were in the older part of the hotel. Next time, we'll try to get a room in the new section. Overall, I would go back. It was lovely.
    • It is the low season so the pool was closed and the restaurant didn’t offer the buffet. However, you submitted your breakfast request the night before for your breakfast selection. The food was good. I had dinner there as well one night and I enjoyed the meal. I would stay again without a doubt.

Front desk staff was awesome!!!!! Location is perfect

Bed overly hard and we had no hot water one morning.

location was amazing the Castel, the city and Port all in one package

the food was just OK. wifi was very poor and was not handled even after I ask them to fix it. the pool is small but nicely located

View, away from busy downtown but walking distance. Be ready for steep climb walks, narrow streets, and RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. ROOMS 2XX are the best in my opinion.

    No wifi in bathroom.

It’s proximity to everything and it’s aesthetics

I wish we could’ve had a larger bed. North American is like larger, mattresses, and soft mattresses.

Great location and on old Fortress

Bed was hard and shower wasn’t position properly and for the price, breakfast wasn’t included. Amazing staff.

    9PatriciaPosted on: 5-31-2025

    The views were exceptional

Seemed to be short-staffed- there was no bartender in the bar- we had to request someone from the dining area to come and make our drinks

The location directly in the old fortress is really amazing. You're above the city, in peace and quiet, and still 5 min walking to the center. The evenings at the fortress were magical... :) Otherwise, the hotel has a good standard - spacious rooms, reasonable beds and good sound isolation. It is not super lux but correct and comfy. Restaurant is really pleasant for dining, the breakfast didn't have that much variety, but ok. Overall excellent price/quality ratio.

Very good breakfast with fresh orange juice and warm croissants:), staff (the staff person at the breakfast does really good job!), bathroom, great views, location, space for parking a car. Highly recommended!

We asked for one bed, but unfortunately there was no available room with one bed. The option of 2 beds is quite uncomfortable, even if the beds are connected.

    Location.

Sliding doors with the view were blurry/dirty and need to be replaced.

    9TarynPosted on: 4-22-2025

The location of the hotel and history of the fort itself is excellent. The room was large and had everything you would need. Had a nice spacious bathroom that was updated. The staff were lovely, very helpful and always wanted to ensure that their guests were taken care of.

Our stay was good, and we have no complaints. Wish there was more information about the fort itself on the property as you walk through.

The Pousada is inside a historical fortress with great views of the sea, the harbour and the city. Very close to the city center. The room was quite comfortable as well as the bed. Breakfast was good and the staff kind and helpful. The rate was value for money.

    I have no negative comments.

Historic site, super quiet, spectacular views, close to the historic and seafront districts, what else would one want?

    7DaviesPosted on: 10-15-2024

The view from our room was spectacular, looking out over the sea and the hotel was in a good and quiet location, but close to the city enabling us to explore Angra on foot.We enjoyed the outdoor pool. The breakfast was very good and staff very friendly & helpful.

The fittings in the bathroom were in need of attention. There did not seem to be enough staff, i.e. on asking to have a drink at the bar, someone had to be called from the dining room and then they had to go to get the drinks from the dining room! When we arrived, we did not have the double bed we had requested when booking, but they did move us immediately when we pointed out the error.
