Hotel Ilha

For a two star hotel, this is a great place. The hotel was clean. The room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. And the price was great. This hotel meet my needs and expectations.

Only complaint was the pillows. The pillows were very thin.

This is not a fancy hotel but it’s very clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful I appreciate that they reached out to me if I would like a bath mat for our shower. I have a son with special needs and I very much appreciated them.

There was nit anything I didn’t like. This was our second time there and we were happy with everything.

Very basic breakfast, we had to buy some vegetables since there was none (but there was some fruit, bread, ham, cheese, croissants, coffee...). Location was awesome, room a little dated but really clean and with the AC. Overall, we recommend the place for sure!

Friendly & efficient staff. Nice room. Generous breakfast. I noticed that some rooms have fridges. This would be a perk for all quarters. I lucked out with a quiet room at back of hotel. Rooms could be listed as facing street or not. No complaints.

The building is very dated inside. The room was old, smelly, and only had 2 outlets. The shower head was broken and the AC didn’t work. Also, you have to check in late, you have to walk to a different hotel 2 blocks away to get your room key then walk back

Breakfast options were not good at all cleaning of rooms were not ideal seemed like floors were never clean first room I got had no where to put my clothes as I was staying for a month it was tiny then I was upgraded to another room no elavators so lots of stairs to go up

Quiet, great location, comfy beds, let me stay in kitchen for afternoon until my flight time.

Too bad that the breakfast was so poor (no choice, cheap, no quality stuff)The comfort of bedrooms can be very different. I had first a large breezy lovely renovated room on the street with a fridge, and a small crappy room on an inside court with no fresh air the second night.

It was great, friendly staff, clean and easy to get around the city in terms of location.

It is in a great location in the center of the Angra business area, just a two minute walk from the harbor. Our room was spacious and clean with three big windows that opened (with interior shutters to darken the room). As many others have mentioned, the value is high. This was one of the cheaper places we stayed in Portugal - when I pay €65 per night I have different expectations than when I pay twice as much. That being said, this was perfectly comfortable with a clean bathroom that had plenty of really hot water. The bed was comfortable and there was a mini fridge in the room; lots of closet space. There are many good restaurants in the area, I particularly liked Taberna do Teatro, Captain’s Table, and Tascas das Tias. For a light lunch or better coffee than you’ll get at the hotel breakfast, try Merceiras d’Angra (get their Dona Amelia cake, a molasses cake that’s a local specialty).

Just a fair warning, the breakfast has minimal options, the noise might bother some if your room faces the street, you’ll have to climb a set of stairs, and parking is limited in the immediate neighborhood (and is paid Monday to Friday….and might be limited to four hours during the day?). I parked my rental car in the free municipal lot near the playground at the bottom of Mount Brasil, a ten minute walk.

The breakfast was very nice for a budget friendly hotel, and the whole property was very clean. The best part of the hotel was the staff- the customer service was outstanding and everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. That personal touch was the reason I would highly recommend Hotel Ilha to any traveler.

Honestly, there was nothing to improve. I think it was a great option in a great location for a competitive price. The rooms were fairly basic, but that is what I would expect for a budget friendly hotel.

The hotel is in a central street of Angra do Heroísmo, in a walking distance to the most relavant places, as the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Garden. It is also near the sea, making it easy to go to the beach. At the same time, it is surrounded by different kinds of restaurants, shops and near a book shop that is also a caffé.The room was nice and clean. Comfortable, though not too much. It was a nice place to arrive to at night for a good sleep.Breakfast was simple, but good. One could eat enough to go on until lunch time.

The hotel was perfectly clean and smelled extremely good.

The bathrooms seem to be a bit old fashioned. Overall, everything is working perfectly, but they kind of contrast with the rest.

Loved my stay! The location is superb, the room was very clean and comfortable, but the highlight was certainly the staff, who were extremely friendly, kind and accommodating.

The location is perfect, as you are located in one of the main streets of Terceira. The room is very clean and spacious, perfect for a couple stay.

The room isolation was not so good and so you could hear the noises from the rooms close by.

The location is perfect, close to the marina with the favourite icecreams, the beach, very central.We also like the Donna Amalia cake for breakfast! Our room was on the streetside what gave nice views.The lady at the reception give well-informed information. Better than the tourist office actually!It is also possible to rent a car here, but we did not know that beforehand.Airconditioned room.

We had a very pleasant stay but the bathroom could need some renovation. There was a request not to use the bathtub in case of overflooding. But you do want to shower.

We loved the location (walking distance from everything we needed), we loved the kindness and hospitality of all the staff, and we really enjoyed the simple but effective breakfast.
