    Pros +

    • The physical building has been beautiful and skillfully upgraded and modernized. Details from coordinated wallpaper to decoration, the cleanliness and friendliness of staff were all awesome. We appreciated access to some of the main spaces. Other guests were quiet and respectful. The stay felt safe. Maestro was great at communicating and being proactive in responses.
    • A very nice, new property, beautifully decorated, right in the heart of Angra. Modern yet maintaining the charm and details of the original building, so you get a sense of Angra's history. Wonderful communication from the owner Raquel, she even got us a last-minute dinner reservation for New Year's Eve! And the breakfast was personalised, abundant and delicious, with very attentive staff (thank you Lu!). Parking on the street was easy to find. Entry/key pick-up was seamless. Almost felt like our own private place in the city. We will definitely return!
    • Beautifully designed interiors, clean, great service, friendly stuff, best location..

    Cons -

    • Room is very efficient and small but we were not planning on hanging out much in the room. Staff quickly addressed any issues that arose.
    • Bad odors in multiple rooms, weak breakfast
    • Breakfast was a lovely selection of sweet and salty, however, it would be nice to have an option of something warm like eggs or pancakes. We traveled off season and the hotel was almost empty when we stayed so it could be the reason

We loved the room and also the bed was so comfortable. There was a little treat waiting for us in the room when we checked in, complimentary water, and very nice toiletries. The staff was extremely welcoming and also gave us tips about the island and best places to eat. We will be coming back for sure and recommending to friends and family

This place is an amazing find. Perfect location. Clean, comfortable rooms that were quite stylish. Raquel is so kind and helpful. Breakfast made fresh just for you everyday was more than we could eat. She always made sure we had something we could take with us as a snack too. She also has great recommendations for things to do and a taxi driver. Our favorite stay in the Azores.

We loved everything about this place!

Great location. Pretty and clean room. The virtual assistant (Raquel) was quite helpful with restaurant advice and reservations, as well as telling us about local events.

    1. The air conditioning didn’t work. We brought this to Raquel’s attention the first night. It was never fixed, which made it hard to sleep in a hot, stuffy room.2. Although very limited (and distant) parking is available on the street, there were no instructions where to park. We had to figure this out on our own. This was stressful when we arrived with luggage.3. The website offered breakfast as an option. Upon arrival, however, we were told there was no breakfast option. On our last morning, we happened to see a family having breakfast in the breakfast room being served by the housekeeper. Different amenities for different guests?4. After 2 weeks of trying to get a response from Mastro about our hot room situation (it really affected our comfort), they have not responded.

We had a wonderful stay at Mastro Discovery & Memories in Angra do Heroísmo. The hotel itself is spotless, modern, and perfectly located—just steps from the marina, restaurants, and the city’s historic sites. But what really made our experience memorable was Lubelia, the on-site housekeeper and cook. She was the heart and soul of our stay—always greeting us with her vibrant smile and warm energy every morning. Her cheerful personality reflected not only the spirit of the hotel but also the love she clearly has for this beautiful city. She truly made the difference in our visit. ?✅ Highlights:New hotel, clean, and comfortable accommodationsFantastic location—easy walking distance to the marina and historic centerA welcoming atmosphere that feels personal and connected to the cityOverall, we highly recommend staying here—especially if you want a comfortable base in Angra with a truly warm and local touch. ???

Suggestions for future guests:It would be helpful if the hotel could share a short guide for visitors with details such as:Major events happening during your stayRestaurant hours and whether reservations are recommended or required. What’s open/closed on certain days (many places closed on weekends or have limited hours. Best times/days to visit local attractions and activities

With its Art Deco interior, Mastro is an exceptionally cozy and stylish place and, as it's located in the heart of the city and a couple of minutes from the marina, there are interesting bars, cafes and restaurants everywhere you look. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the staff is very nice and always ready to help with any questions, recommendations or reservations. All in all, I enjoyed my stay very much and would like to return on my next visit to Terceira.

We are from NY and traveled to the Azores for the first time. We were thrilled with the hotel. Great location in the heart of the historic area of town and terrific staff. Walking distance to everything and free parking nearby.

Great location in the center of town, steps from the beach and restaurants. Beautifully decorated hotel with modern amenities.

    Nothing!

Everything! What capped the experience was the team going out of their way to support us as we navigated many flight delays.

That we did not have enough time to spend enjoying the room and Angra. We only had 24 in Terceira and our flight was delayed half a day.

We had an unexpected detour to Terceira Island because of plane troubles and ended up booking a night at Mastro very last minute. Well, after staying here now we want to come back and stay again! The room was so spacious and beautiful, great facilities. Close to so many delicious places to eat and have a drink, and nice walks. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I would love to come back to Mastro!

Beautiful. Really really beautiful boutique hotel. Location can’t be better. Everything was perfect. Raquel was the most helpful person in the world. I’d recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Terceira. So cozy. Raquel helped us in everything we asked her for with a huge smile in her face. I’d give much mora than 5 starts if I could.

    Everything was perfect

Room was exactly as pictured, good space for my family, excellent location, very responsive staff

Amazing boutique hotel, located in the heart of the old town but very quiet. Renovation of the old building done with style and taste, using good quality materials, and very comfortable for guests. Bed is very comfortable with high quality linens. Impeccably clean. Breakfast is elegant and tasty. One minute walking down the street to the Vasco da Gama statue and 1 or 2 minutes up the street to the old town square. Incredibly responsive and generous owner who let us stay until 5pm after our flight got canceled and rescheduled for much later. Very pleasant experience.

Absolutely everything was great, couldn't be better.

We were in a quiet room in a great location. We could walk to everything. Because it was off season , there was only one lady on site, who prepared our breakfast. She was helpful and kind. Booking.com did a great job resolving a problem with a tour company. The accommodation was a great value.

Our tour company didn't show up. Instead, we found Spot Tourism Activites. Roy showed us all the sights. We had a blast.

    10ElenaPosted on: 10-1-2024

Everithing was perfect. The host was always reachable by phone for any need. I requested if an early check in was possible and they accepted my request. Furthermore, one morning I needed the room cleaning service after the normal time slot, and I was accommodated. Excellent cleaning. Perfect position in the center of Hangra do Heroismo.

Nothing. I didn't experienced the breakfast service because in my opinion it was a bit expensive.

    10AlizaPosted on: 9-6-2024

The location is perfect, right near the ocean and the city center. The staff and especially the hotel owner were extremely helpful, polite and efficient. . They helped us with restaurant reservations, car rental and many other special needs that came up during our stay. I will definitely return to Mastro on my next visit to Terceira. The room was super clean as was the whole hotel. 10+.
