Pros +
- The property was beautiful and peaceful. There are walking paths and classes/activities you can do there! We did a tortilla/empanada making class with Andrea and Mariana and got to eat our creations. Highly recommend! Saw a sloth and lizards while walking around the hotel.
- The property, staff, home cooked food, trails and accommodations were fantastic! We enjoyed seeing the flora and fauna that the farm had to offer.
- Property was beautiful and relaxing food was amazing and fresh! Staff fabtastic
Cons -
- Bed was uncomfortable and creaked every time we rolled over waking one another
- There is some walking necessary between the parking and the room, and it was difficult carrying the suitcase on the paths. There were some insects in the room.
- One night after dinner, we found a cockroach scurrying around our room. We tried to catch it but it slipped into the bamboo bed frame. Staff came to look for it and were unsuccessful. Fortunately, they were nice enough to offer us another room to stay in, however within 5 mins of arriving, we saw another cockroach in the bathroom. During checkout, the staff weren’t very sympathetic saying “yeah what do you expect, we’re in the jungle”. I felt like this was a bit dismissive since this was a very nice resort. I noticed the buildings did a poor job of keeping the pests out (holes under doorways and drains). We stayed at many hotels during our trip and this was the only place where we saw cockroaches.

The room was big and beautiful with privacy between rooms. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very nice and welcoming.

The property was beautiful and the houses were quite luxurious.

The lodge was absolutely beautiful!!! My room was gorgeous, the bed was super comfy and shower was lovely. I did luck out and get the room that has a private balcony which was lovely and relaxing. The food at the restaurant was delicious with a varied selection each night for dinner. The pool was perfect, and the night tour was exceptional. The guide for the hike Jason was super knowledgeable, and I was able to get some great pictures! The entire staff was warm and welcoming. It is a little outside of the "main" area but only about 20 min drive. And this helped make it super quiet. Highly recomend, I've traveled to over 20 countries and this was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed at!!
The staff were amazing and always helpful The true definition of Hospitality Byron at the restaurant was always helpful. The front desk you g lady who checked us in. They found out I was having stomach problems and they made me a soup without even asking. That was beyond caring. The chef is a 5 star chef. If you want to unwind and unplug this is your little haven
Finca Luna is the perfect balance between environmentally friendly establishment and luxury and comfort. The nature (vegetation and animals from iguanas to sloths)around the hotel compound is amazing and gives lots of options to explore. The staff is wonderful and ready to help and support all your needs, including tours in the area. Our favorite was childrens eternal rainforest hike. The restaurant serves mostly food prepared with homegrown vegetables and fruits through regenerative farming. The accommodation we had was Casa Deluxe and it had everything you need. Swimmingpool is always accesible to relax, and it is cleaned with ozon, so no chlorine, which is fantastic. For practical matters, the internet through wifi worked fantastic (happy kids), and the cost of food was ok, but if you want to explore other restaurant options in the area, you need a car. Overall, Finca was the best place we have ever stayed. Hope to be back someday.
This is more information than a complaint. We visited the area in the rainy season, at the end of July, at the beginning of August. You can actually borrow umbrellas from the reception, which we didn't know. We had to shorten our hike to Arenal volcano from intended 3,5 hrs to 1,5 hrs due to heavy rainfall. If we had our umbrellas, we could have probably enjoyed the hike better.
The place is amazing what stood out to me was the helpful and friendly staff most notably the landscapers that normally don’t interact with the residents we approached them with questions and the were friendly and knowledgeable. Even with a big machete in there hands made you feel welcomed.
What I didn’t like is that I only booked 5 nights should have stayed longer
Everything about this place was amazing. Of all the places we have stayed in Costa Rica, this is our favorite. Would highly recommend, especially for families. Gorgeous location with lots to do on site. No need to leave. Great staff and the food was incredible!
The lodge was beautiful ...much better than any photos, and so tranquil! We saw toucans, monkeys, agoutis and so many birds all in one day on the property. We were woken by howler monkeys, and we saw a sloth on our riding tour. It lived up to all my dreams.
Very beautiful resort/campus. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Very eco-friendly
Beds were very squeaky. Minimalist cabins...but they are eco-friendly, so understandable. Breakfast is average.. lot of reviews said breakfast was amazing, but I found it to be average.
Loved this place. Gorgeous surroundings ,loved hearing all the rainforest sounds, great staff, resident sloth in a tree right outside of reception. The food is so fresh and delicious, pool is really nice, and I loved the deck. We stayed in the earthbag house, which was comfortable, quiet and lovely.
We loved everything about our stay at Finca Luna Nueva! The grounds were equal parts beautiful and educational, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, and the food was fresh, healthy, and delicious. We stayed four nights in a family bungalow. It was comfortable and more than enough room for five. We enjoyed pool and hot tub time, smoothies and cocktails poolside, hiking trails, a night jungle tour, and a chocolate class while on property. We also loved the white water rafting trip that we arranged through reception! We hope we’re lucky enough to return!
This place is magical. Little did we know, this hotel is a one of a kind that is well known. It’s still a hidden gem but for those that have come here, they know it’s an amazing experience with lots of farm to table food, great activities, close to some great attractions and plenty of wildlife. We would gladly return.
Nothing. Loved it all. For the price. You can beat it.
The property is surrounded by nature, birds of all kinds, sloths, beautiful flowers!! The food is tasty and the farm garden impressive! Thank you for your warm hospitality!
We stayed in the dome suite which was very luxurious and comfortable, surrounded by lush jungle. All was very fine, we liked the walks on the property and bird watching area. Only be aware that this is not an adults only location and there were many families.
Great settingBeautiful propertyVery friendly and helpful staffChocolate tour was educational and right on siteEvening mysteries tour was also fun and we learned a lot Definitely build in time to hang out at hotel all day at least one day or even moreFood was good Fun to see sloths
Driving to activities(But you could definitely book a tour from hotel that would take care of transportation)
Location, friendly staff, large swimming pool, ‘finca experience‘ and selection of very good craft beers.
Rooms in Casa Luna building not sound proofed at all and A/C noisy. Food is good enough but not quite as advertised. Limited availability of tours (at the time of our stay).
The grounds are amazing. Naturally landscaped, well kept trails and fresh farm to table food made for a spectacular experience. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food is amazing and lots of room to explore. Plenty of plants, birds and wildlife like toucans and sloths. There's a bird feeding station that attracts all sorts of colorful birds. In the morning, you can hear the howler monkeys calling out from the jungle. There are plenty of activities for the family including pool, sauna, massage and night time guided hikes to explore the jungle at night. Close enough to visit La Fortuna and Arenal areas, but far enough away for a quiet, relaxing vacation.
We were so sad to leave and wish we could have stayed longer!
