Pros +
- Good food, the jungle where are located the apartments
- Great location. Amazing vegan food. Definitely check out their restaurant if you’re around the area. Try their desserts. Very helpful stuff. We had a room located away from the animal shelters so the noise wasn’t not an issue. Please call them and discuss this if this is a concern for you.
- We really liked the location, the comfort, the attention, the food and that it is an animal rescue place
Cons -
- No information about pets home. Our children are afraid of pets. They sell it as apartments with restaurant. The restaurant is only open at the evening
- I feel the facilities could use better maintenance, some areas seemed a bit neglected.
- There are a lot of dogs who happily bark at any human going near them. Whilst this is audible from the main reception, the rooms are no doubt purposefully located at the other end of the resort and therefore this did not affect our sleep.

What a wonderful place! Friendly staff and AMAZING food. We only stayed two nights but wanted to work our way through the whole menu which is extensive (not something vegans are used to!!) The chef, one of the owners, came out to speak with us and was so friendly. She told us of the history of the place and the great work they do here operating a no-kill sanctuary for hundreds of dogs cats and other animals that have been discarded for one reason or another. The rooms were clean and large. The shower decent and the bed very comfortable. The lounge is airy and whilst the furniture may not be to everyone’s taste, it was comfortable. The pool was clean and at a lovely temperature, cool enough to be refreshing but warm enough not to have that oooh moment when getting in!The hotel also helped us with transport both from the airport and onto our next hotel and there were several guests doing a variety of tours/activities.

delicious food, good shower, kind stuff
nonstop very noisy dog barking from shelter right next to hotel, matrass, strong bad smell from duck pond with dozens of ducks and geese right next to hotel
The main advantage of the place is its excellent restaurant. The food is vegan, but Naama, the chef, works wonders. She also gives personal attention and fulfills everyone's requests. We ate huge and delicious breakfasts there that were included in the room price, as well as lunch and dinner. The rooms were basic but nice and clean. The resort itself is in the heart of a beautiful forest and we enjoyed the place, the pool and the jacuzzi. The staff was polite and nice
The location can be problematic for those who do not have a car or private transportation
Excellent vegan dinner with lovely chef who seemed to really care. Nice vegan breakfast. Several dining rooms, including outdoor patios to set your plate.
Our main issue was that the communication was terrible. At check-in the front desk told us not to go to our rooms first because dinner was about to start. The paperwork we were handed indicated dinner should have already started. But nothing was happening in the dining area. Since we were miles from the next nearest restaurant we were worried we would have to drive out into the dark if dinner wasn't happening. We tried asking at the desk and because of a language barrier, could not get an explanation. The desk people held up a phone that announced via Google translate "Just go to the dining room and lay down." The was a series of people asking questions at the front desk and then leaving more puzzled than when they arrived. Finally, a hour later, a big group appeared from a night hike and the food suddenly was whisked out from the kitchen. They had delayed dinner for the hikers, which is fine, but tell the front desk and hang a sign for the guests.Similarly, the front desk could not or would not tell us about any of the many many activities that go on at the hotel. Maybe with the bus tour they felt overwhelmed or maybe since we were only there one night they decided not to bother spending time to explain anything to us. Ironically, we had called the hotel to ask when dinner is served while driving there. They passed the phone around until someone told us "dinner, si, don't worry" when really the right answer would have been "get here by 6pm for the night hike and dinner is delayed until 7:30pm." The hikers were heading out as we pulled in.
All the propriety is pretty quiet.
Place is very unkempt! furnitures are old. Room smells musty and old, seems to be poorly maintained and even a bit dirty. Noise from the rooms next door is very loud and the balconies in the backyard have No privacy at all. TV had the volume Off and the Fans are loud all night long. We had a bad night and also very unsafe because the property doesn’t have watchmen.
Reading previous reviews about the resort I was a bit hesitent, and retrospectively I would have stayed one or two mights more. Contrary to some descriptions, the room as well as the other fasilities were perfectly clean. The restaurant was amaizingly good, and it is surprising how well the chef (Na'ama) can do with vegan food (I am not vegan at all:) ).The resort is beautifully designed and the cause behind it is important as well
No criticism
wrong election
Almost poisoned at the bar, wrong liquid in a NV Absinthe Verte liquor
It is located in a beautiful and secluded part of the jungle, very relaxed atmosphere, restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian and tasty dishes
a bit pricey, the hotel itself is a little old, basic rooms
The joy of summer camp covered in green rain forest.
Facilities are getting very old and unkempt. Faucet handles were rusted. We had to move to a different room because the toilet began to leak. In the new room the phone did not work. The outdoor facilities were made of wood and are beginning to rot. For example the orchid display and the bridge to the orchid display was falling apart and very unsafe. In reality this is a huge animal shelter. The vegan food was given with generous portions but heavy on the grease.
the property is beautiful and expansive. it feels very calm, quiet and private. we only saw maybe 5 other people the whole time. the food in the restaurant was so delicious and fresh, full of flavor and huge portions.
we didn’t mind but for sone good to know it’s not all updated posh etc. there’s a lot of very old fixtures and such. it’s not a big deal.
Great vegan food, comfortable place. Surrounded by nature and hiking trails.
great location like very much the approach of the place which takes care of pets
rooms, sheets and towels are not in good condition not clean
Decoration is a must see. Great taste. Full of colors and paintings. River and walks, there's a lot to see. The sounds around are just so relaxing.
Birding is outstanding on the site. Breakfast was the best in Costa Rica. Good pool.
The grounds and trails need better maintenance. Take the guys who are blowing leaves around and have them clear some of the trees blocking the sidewalks. Trail system needs better map and marking. Restaurant staff can be pretty indifferent.
The staff was not very friendly, no selection for food, ants in the mini fridge in the room, ants and bugs were bad inside the room and plumbing was bad.
The food is amazing, best food during our trip
The nature
Noise and old not comfortabele matrassen
