    Pros +

    • The view and the pool were awesome
    • This is a wonderful place to stay, fantastic views, peaceful surroundings, our hosts fabulous and the food exceptional!
    • Infinity pools with ocean view. Beautiful sunrise

    Cons -

    • My apartment room was much further away and required walking a good distance on a road to get to any of the facilities. Staff was hard to find as they were working around the grounds often. The kitchen/bar was seldom staffed. Getting a drink was tough.
    • A bit of a bumpy road at the end to get to it!
    • Casa blanco is outdated. Watch out for the door to lock behind you with the keys inside. Keep the keys in the outside lock if not in your pockets

The property manager of Varina is so sweet and kind and the owner and his chef friend are excellent Italian cooks. You can sit and have dinner with a few other people or just by yourself.

We love everything about this property

The location was great. We loved Montezuma. The hotel was clean and it was so nice to have the infinity pool just steps away from our place. The host was welcoming. No complaints.

We were charged regular price for the virgin drinks that we got our kids.

The pool and view from the pool was nice

The cabin was uncomfortable, beds were uncomfortable, the staff was not friendly, cabin advertised there would be a view but there was no view, ac was only in main room and did not cool off bedrooms enough.

The view, and pool can't be beat. The owner and his staff are wonderful. Breakfast was perfect. Typical Costa Rican and very flavorful.

Our only complaint ( which really isn't one) It is off the beaten path and so you need transportation from town to get there. We rented a 4x4 and were just fine.

The pools were amazing as well as the attention by the staff. They were kind and prompt in solving any request or problem. We loved the BBQ villa with the ranch I even though we couldn’t use it as it had to many mosquitos. The views were just amazing and the garden wonderful and well maintained.

Many mosquitos but they gave us great mosquito tents for the beds.

Nice ocean view, a friendly family making breakfast and a cute cat at the swimming pool.

The overall state of the property is poor. An outdated swimming pool with worn out sun beds, cheap and ugly furniture, a garden that isn’t maintained, all kinds of insects and frogs in the bathroom and worst of all: poorly cleaned rooms. We’d expect this when paying $ 100 per night for a room, but we paid $ 250 a night. For us, the price/performance ratio is very bad. The owner offered us to have the room “deep cleaned”, but that was too late. We decided to leave after one night and booked another hotel for the remaining two. Money down the drain, but we are still happy with this decision.

Casitas Sollevante is the most beautiful place to stay in Montezuma. If you stay in one of the villas closer to the ocean, you can view the ocean, hear the break and see monkeys climbing in the trees next to you. I love the fact that there is a private chef who makes incredible meals. We enjoyed five different types of pasta when we were there.

There’s nothing that I do not like about this property.

This is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are a delight - we had a wonderful ocean view to wake up to, and a choice of two pools for a morning dip. The breakfast and coffee is excellent and I would highly recommend. Perfectly placed for a visit to Montezuma and that stunning stretch of coastline.

We ate at the hotel restaurant. We were the only family dining but they had a chef and waiter on hand. I had the good fortune to enjoy a fish fillet of snook, which was wonderful. The sushi was excellent as well.

The setting at this property is spectacular! If you are looking for a place that is quiet with beautiful scenery over looking the ocean. Look no further. My recommendation to the manager is to have drone video footage of the property so quests could see the layout of the casita's, pool area and grounds.

The road going into the parking lot was in serious need of repair. I drive a Mitsubishi Outlander and ended up damaging the bottom engine protector due to how deep the ruts were when trying to get my car into the parking lot. I highly recommend that be repaired as quickly as possible.

Gorgeous view and pool!! Staff were super nice and the sunrises were heavenly.

My apartment had mostly everything I needed but would have benefitted from a deep clean for the kitchen area and a few more plates/bowls/pots and pans as well as water provided in the room.

The location was great. Cabina was spacious and beds comfortable.

The road to the property was pretty bad but it was rainy season. The swimming pools made our swimming costumes go a strange colour.

    The silence and the view

Wasn’t cleanThere was no one at the reception during the entire stay so we couldn’t even formally check in, pay or get details. We couldn’t even pay before leaving No one from the crew knew english which was very hardThe bed had bugs in it and we have been bitten by them the entire nightThe restaurant was closed by 11am which we didn’t knowThe bathroom has no rooftop which wasn’t mentioned anywhereThe place is very expensive and theres no value for the money in my opinion

Beautiful grounds, with 2 pools, lounge chairs, mini restaurant. Accommodation was stand alone private bungalow, with private outdoor shower.A couple decent restaurants in walking distance if you are up for some hill walking.

Rooms are quite basic and could use a slight refresh. For a king sized bed they use two single beds and put them together. That was not comfortable. I kept telling my husband that was the continental divide! It was a big hump. It's a good hike up the hill from Montezuma town. Good challenge, but can be a dissuasion from making the trip. On location restaurant has a limited menu and more expensive than it should have been.

    Clean. Distant view of ocean.

We were led to think this property (through Booking.com) had a very nice restaurant that served all meals. We paid more for this accommodation because of this advertised amenity. We were not prepared to travel into Montezuma for lunch and dinner everyday during our 5 days. Breakfast was the only meal served in the outdoor area. Other guests voiced their surprise and disappointment also. Evidently, the restaurant is open only certain months! Cooking in our room was difficult as it was so poorly stocked with very worn utensils and appliances. Our AC went out twice due to a defective remote leaving us in a very warm room in 94 degree temps. Varina was responsive but the AC problem was due to faulty equipment. Our final day, the Nicoya Pennisula’s electric and water systems were to be shut down for 10 hours in 97 degree weather! We decided our room would be unbearable and take too long to cool down for a night’s rest so we left a day early with no offer of refund. We have travelled a lot and have never had a negative experience like this. A shame.

Lovely and quiet, away from the main town, just a short drive away. Wonderful views. Lovely pools and pool towels are provided. Comfortable bed. I loved the outdoor shower.

On the reviews it talks about the restaurant and we were really looking forward to eating there. What they don’t tell you is that it’s only open half the year. Closed December to May. It was one of the reasons I booked it so very disappointed.

Amazing vibe and great location with good facilities. The food is also great and you can have Italian, Argentinian and sushi. Marco is an excellent and friendly host . The staff are also very helpful and friendly. We already miss the place.
