fabulous, friendly staff and great service

restaurant was just okay. didn't really like the menu options (very european). would have preferred more local cuisine.

The area was beautiful and we had a lovely view from our room.

The road onto the property was rocky. And the parking lot was small for the number of cars. Would be nice if the road was graded.

Fantastic boutique hotel. We loved our stay. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was exceptional. The view was breathtaking. Only a short drive to the nearest beach. Lots of excursion options close by. Would highly recommend.

Mattress was a little hard, but that is just a personal preference. Only suggestion would be to have robes in the room, would be a nice personal touch.

The views from the property

Rooms are too small for 4, dated.. The hotel is very nice because of the view it offers, however it is so isolated and there is not much to do around, the closest local town is not very pleasant. The road leading to the hotel is awful. If it’s a night time, raining and you don’t have 4x4, I would not recommend driving.

From the time we arrived until we left, the staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. For English speakers, having a bit of Spanish is definitely helpful but not necessary, and the check in staff are practically fluent in English.The pool was very clean and nice with amazing views of the bay, beach & sunsets. There is a shower next to the pool to rinse off before and after swimming/wading (not a full depth pool, very kid friendly). There is a swim-up bar but it wasn't open when we were there (early Dec, not yet high season).Our room had a full panoramic view of the bay and beach as well, with the hills sweeping dramatically up away from the ocean. You can hear howler monkeys in the distance, and we had a plethora of birds visit including many hummingbirds. The grounds of the hotel are planted with many flowering bushes which attract them and are just darn beautiful.Our room was clean and lovely, with a king bed and double for our family of 4. The bathroom & shower are large and well supplied with towels and soap. Our stay included breakfast which was a well appointed buffet style with options of traditional CR breakfast options along with pancakes, yogurt and granola, and more. Very happy with everything.

We could have stayed longer!

We absolutely loved our stay here. We had anticipated having a great room, and close proximity to where we wanted to explore. What we hadn’t expected was the exceptional staff. They worked so hard to make our stay really comfortable and our activities easy to access and enjoyable. Jose helped us in many ways - signing up for amazing tours, getting ferry tickets, and making recommendations for meals. He was professional, knowledgeable, and amazing. We will stay here again if we are ever back on Costa Rica. It was a highlight of our trip.

Beautiful views of the ocean and islands, nice restaurant and pool area, good breakfast with many selections, friendly and helpful staff. Also close to bioluminescence kayak tours and Curú nature reserve which are both excellent.

Room was a bit small but you don’t really spend much time in it and there is a good sized balcony.

Staff, cocktails and the view

Road access is terrible; the room wasn't clean, especially the floor: spider webs, spiders and bugs inside the room, we got bitten inside the bed by some bugs; too many wasps and wasp nests including the balcony which we couldn't use; restaurant overpriced; toilet flush doesn't work at all.

the view from the pool is priceless. you feel like you are in a fairytale. staff was very friendly. room were not so big but clean

the room towels that they provide were not in a good shape, frayed. you would expect better quality. The parking was a bit challenging at times as they don't have so many spaces and you need to maneuver to get out of the property. restaurant was in my opinion, a bit pricey, not so many options for kids and the portions were definitely not abundant.

The pool was great because the view was picturesque and it was well maintained. The garden areas were fragrant. The on-site chef was great and we enjoyed the dinner. The breakfast was self-serve buffet style and had alot of great items.

The trail/road to the location was super muddy and steep. Of course, without the steepness one would not have the view. But also, the town needs more development, but that is no fault of the hotel.

10/10 stay. Wonderful location, views, accommodations, and excellent staff.

The view is amazing.The amenities were great.The staff were super friendly. The day we were leaving a bad storm rolled through and mudslides blocked the only road out from the hotel. The staff were out there before six in the morning, helping us clear the road so we could get to our ferry.

The bedsheets were very uncomfortable.

The hotel has a beautiful view of the bay. Nice pool, but the hotel is a bit tired and needs some renovation. The staff was great. You will have to get to the hotel on broken roads. Good restaurant, but the menu is not very big, the price level is like in the USA. Overall, I would recommend visiting it for a couple of days. There is no beach, don't be fooled by the photos. Of course, there is one, but it is not a beach, but a dirty, shitty lagoon with a lot of garbage, you can't swim there. Monkeys live in the trees near the reception and in the trees in front of the room. On the first day, we found a live scorpion in the room, be careful.

This gorgeous hotel has an amazing view out across the ocean with a bar in the pool! The staff made our stay extra special with a special note and free cocktail as we got engaged! They also helped us to book 2 tours which were great!

Beautiful place overlooking the ocean and Isla Tortuga, very quiet and peaceful, a handful of cats walk around to say "hi", especially for breakfast and dinner :-). quite the view from the refreshing pool. stayed four nights, usually spent the morning at the pool and then left to explore.

Beautyful view and a nice pool. The road up to the hotel was really off road and the cats in the eating area and at the pool area was not for us.

The view, the grounds, and the pool were exceptional. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Monkeys and birds were all over the place.

There are no luggage trolleys to get the luggage to your rooms. The first night we arrived, we discovered that the air conditioning didn't really work . We had a horrible, hot and sleepless night. We were moved to another room the next day, but no compensation of any sort was offered. There seemed to be a bit of "magic"lacking. Also, our balcony wasn't really a balcony at all - but a glass enclosed room with sliding windows which was disappointing

The view from the pool and our room was divine. I appreciated how all the balconies were completely separate so we had privacy while out there.

While the pool and pool were stunning, the pool edges were sharp. Both my children cut themselves notably while swimming in it during our stay. The staff were lovely, but we did run into many things that they either didn't have or weren't in the best shape. The service made up for it, but still worth noting. Multiple types of food on the menu weren't available, wine on the menu wasn't chilled, the pool bar that is featured in photos was not open/ in use, etc. Lastly, the AC unit in our room was subpar. We had to run it for 5 hours before it even started to make it a difference, and even then it never got chilly or close to it. Note: The hill/driveway is pretty treacherous so make sure you have a 4WD. We were nervous every time we came back that we wouldn't make it up (especially if it rained).
