    Pros +

    • Gorgeous grounds and villaProximity to Borobudur More than anything: the most accommodating, the most patient, the most helpful, the warmest, most sincere and the most gracious staff I have ever experienced anywhere—and I’ve traveled to 70 countries and stayed in some amazing hotels.
    • It was simply an amazing experience staying at the Plataran Borobudur, just minutes away and overlooking the famous temple. We chose it for our 25th wedding anniversary getaway, and apart from the huge room within its own private sanctuary, private pool overlooking the Jogja mountains and beautiful grounds including a mini zoo, what really blew us away was the level of attention lavished on us as guests. Every request was attended to promptly, with every effort made to accommodate our plans. And the service recovery to make up for some renovation noise around our villa really went above and beyond. Truly outstanding!
    • Stunning, beautiful grounds! Premium quality accommodations! Excellent restaurant and room service!

    Cons -

    • I liked everything
    • Minor quibbles: the bathroom and washing area lights could be brighter, and the shower stall tiles should be less slippery. That's it.
    • During construction, the check-in was confusing.

Exquisite luxury through and through. The spa treatment is a MUST as they provide you with the entire spa villa and not just a room. We stayed only 1N and booked the Borobudur Villa. Didnt have much time to enjoy the room or the resort so I recommend staying at least 2N.

The food could be improved, satay beef and chicken quite hard, the duck also quite hard.

One of the best resort in Indonesia and the world. We’ve booked 3 villas, 2 modern pool villas and grand spa villa. The reception during our arrival was very friendly, warm and professional. We loved our breakfast at Patio Restaurant as the view from our table was amazing, you can see Borobudur temple and mountains around from it. Variety of al carte menu available to suit our needs. The villa and the resort environment also very tranquil and silent, it is best for our resilient holiday away from crowd and hectic. Mr. Bimo who was our guest liaison provide a very professional and courtesies service and helps during our stay. All the staff from concierge, buggy service, F&B servers and spa therapies provides us a very warm and professional services. It is one of the best Plataran Resort in the world.

Dislike:1. They are in the middle of construction and all villas are only reachable by car, which makes things very hard and annoying. Check in is at the sister resort Heritage and that's also where the cars will pick you up. 2. The beautiful view that is the reason most people stay at this hotel is covered by construction. 3. Breakfast seemed winged, must stuff in the buffet was clearly cut the night before and there was only an omelet station for fresh food.Liked:1. The traditional villas were an experience, and the view of the mountains is fantastic. Nothing like Javanese mornings!2. The staff was super nice, helpful, courteous. This was not a 5* hotel experience and if they are in construction they should not rent the villas out. I kept regretting not getting a room at Le Temple which was recommended to me. Ironically the reason had been the view... which emerged over tarp on my stay.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in (and I’ve stayed in many!).The room was superb, the location incredible, and the view of the temple in the middle of the jungle was mesmerizing. All the staff were very polite, and the manager was both attentive and friendly.

The only downside was that my stay was way too short! The only downside! ?

The property’s unique location and marvellous scenery/views. Our villa was stunning, with a decent size pool and well maintained throughout. The complimentary afternoon tea was a lovely touch and the staff were excellent.

An absolutely fantastic setting with an outstanding view of the cultural landscape around the Borobudur temple complex, which is a significant part of the World Heritage List and can be proud of those who still experience this unique view.

The construction site is a bit of a nuisance for a Christmas holiday. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to experiencing the new spa.

Staff wonderful. Professional, kind and discreet. Resort is 10mn from Borobudur temple that we can see from the Patio restaurant of the resort. An excellent restaurant worth a Michelin Star. Price above local restaurant but worth having at least a meal there. Excellent breakfast and afternoon tea. Room attended by quality staff. Always clean. Fruits, water and sweets left for us. Worth considering a stay if visiting the area.

Resort is located more than 1h from Merapi volcano, Prabaman temple and Yogyakarta thus be prepared to pay around A$26 minimum for a single ride and A$40 one way from/to airport. To remember that Java is at majority a Muslim country and that the 1st prayer call is at 4am. Ear plugs are provided by Resort.

Nestled in the jungle, the setting is exquisite! The grounds are beautifully maintained and the filled with artful sculptures and historic touches. Around every corner of this vast resort there is something to delight in. The room was huge and felt like a romantic step back in time. The dark wood interior was filled with elegant touches, antiques, draped king bed, massive desk and several comfortable seating areas. There was a lovely balcony that wrapped around the room and overlooked a spectacular jungle. There was also both a private pergola and pool which made us feel like royalty.

That we didn’t have more time luxuriate in its magnificence

The hotel is directly across the valley from the temple. It’s a shame the temple’s floodlighting is poor (and not every night) but when the mist forms it’s unparalleled. The gardens are beautiful, the room delightful, The bed is comfortable, the bathroom huge. The pool villas are excellent. The staff could not have done more, especially for the nine year old in our party. The food was good though some more choice would be welcome. It’s on a hill but the buggies come quickly via the WhatsApp group.

The 4 am call to prayer may bother some but there are earplugs.

We drove here from Jakarta as a family with young children, looking for a new roadtrip experience for they kids. There are many many great destinations in Indonesia, but not all have the Bali international standard when it comes to accommodation, which is I guess why Plataran exists. You can trust the brand and just follow where they set up their hotels in Indonesia for a great alternative to a Bali holiday. This one in Borobudur feels like the old Ubud before social media. World class property without the hype and crowds. I know you can find many hotels like this in Bali, but the change in setting is so refreshing. The attention they put to individual guests is impressive. They set up a whatsapp group with you that the management team answers immediately.

Maybe more unique activities for kids that other hotels dont have yet, but what they already have is also great amd well executed. I'm kind of pushing it because everything went well. Price maybe high, but thats what you pay for exclusivity and the attention to you.

Perfect place to stay if you want to visit Borobodur temple.Beautiful site on a hill with charming villas and stunning views, including on the temple. Many options on the resort for dinner and all the restaurants are excellent. To book online your ticket for Borobodur before you travel to Java is highly recommended.

Excellent, clean and high-quality facilities. Staff were some of the best we’ve met - responsive, kind, polite. Great selection of activities. And the location and setting was peaceful.

Serene with spectacular views - spacious and beautiful villas and the restaurant was serving delectable food

Spa renovation currently ongoing was not ideal but the staff did what they could to make up for construction noise.
