    Pros +

    • Spectacular location with sea view from all units, well equipped kitchen, roomy, plenty of parking, bus stops out front, best price.
    • Weird air conditioning set-up, but really nice view and living area. Convenient to walk to some amenities (restaurant and bowlo). Easy walk to unpatrolled beach thru the mini rain forest. Easy open parking even for a large car. Bus at the doorstep!
    • Location was really good, it was easy to walk to the Home beach or further along to Cylinder Beach. The Balcony was great and you could see the beach and water through the trees.

    Cons -

    • Bedroom furniture
    • I thought pool was a bit dirty there were lots of bugs in the water. We were only provided with two bath towels, no hand towel or mat for getting out of the shower.Dishwashing liquid was very weak and dishes required more that one wash which in my opinion just uses more hot water
    • We would definitely want to stay here again, so the following are minor, and detracted only slightly from our enjoyment. The location was around a couple of kilometres walk from the North Gorge Walk, the Point Lookout shops, and the Foodworks supermarket, so not as convenient if without a car. In winter too, a number of eating places closed early on week days (2-3.30pm). Buses were 60-90 minutes apart. The noise of waves breaking on shore was quite loud even with the windows closed in the master bedroom. Family in the other bedroom was woken by traffic noise in the early morning.

Apartment 32 on the top floor had a beautiful view over the ocean which could be enjoyed from the living area and from the master bedroom. There were two comfortable couches (one 2 seater and one 3 seater) plus a dining table in the spacious living area. There was also plenty of seating and another table on the huge balcony. The night sky was full of stars. Well equipped kitchen with medium sized fridge, and two bathrooms (one with bath). It was just a short walk out the back of the hotel to Home Beach, a lovely long white sandy beach. Reception was closed when we arrived, but check in was very easy and convenient. The bus from the SeaLink Ferry stopped right outside our accommodation (Dickson Way at Home Beach bus stop), and bus fares were just 50 cents for adults (cash or card). The road house where you can buy take away (burgers, chips, etc. plus other general supplies) was short walk away at Adder Rock (the bus from the ferry stops here too).

We would definitely want to stay here again, so the following are minor, and detracted only slightly from our enjoyment. Close to the beach

Lots of stairs and limited TV reception

    8StevenPosted on: 4-24-2025

Loved the location and that it was right near beach and close to everything

We didn't like that tv reception was terrible and there was a high pitched sound possibly coming from bathroom

The location was exceptional! Absolutely beautiful and a short walk to the beach. I would highly recommend the location of this place.

The manager mentioned how "lucky" we were to have a room for all the nights we booked, as he had to make it work due to availability issues—which he only told us after we had already paid. It felt more like he was lucky we chose his motel, given the many options available. Sharing behind-the-scenes booking issues with guests, especially in a way that creates stress or confusion, isn't great customer service. Guests expect a confirmed booking to mean a consistent room without added drama. The location of this property is its biggest highlight—beautiful ocean views, lush trees, and stunning sunrises. On arrival, the pool area looked dated but pleasant, with a great view. Unfortunately, there were only three lounge chairs available, despite the large space that could easily fit more. When we asked the front desk, we were told there were a few more in storage, but nothing ever came of it.The next day, we spoke to the manager who said the extra chairs had been thrown out, contradicting what we were told earlier. He suggested we carry a lounger from our room down two flights of stairs to the pool, which didn’t feel very relaxing. There were a few other issues during our stay: no one notified us when we left our beach umbrella at the front desk, we only received two towels for the entire stay, and the bed sheets were sandy. We had to ask for additional towels ourselves.Despite the service and cleanliness concerns, the location is fantastic. A bonus is the lovely local shop next door—great customer service and beautiful, unique items.

Fantastic location, right in front of beach/ access from the gardens. Near to restaurants and Point Lookout. Unit we had was large and roomy, very comfortable. Great BBQ area near pool.

Overall Bit dated, no air con in main living area and only portable in bedroom, which was noisy.

We loved our 3 day vacay staying at Anchorage on Straddie. It was in a handy location, close to some great eating places, and just a short stroll to the pub.The view from our room looked straight out to the beach. The rooms are basic, but clean and practical for what we wanted.

    the location is good.

There was no airconditioning , my room was up 2 flights of stairs, room finishes were shabby, no toiletries (shampoo etc). Generally well below expectation for this price bracket

    8MargaretPosted on: 3-2-2025

Close to restaurants and point Lookout .

No air conditioning in the rooms . Pool needed serious renovations (cracked surrounds which had been repaired and was not holding )

Fantastic location, our 2brm was very spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed. Bbq area was well used by us as it was a great area especially to cook up breaky on large plates.

    Stairs to apartment Hahaha

The location was nice. Enjoyed the view from the balcony.

The pool was too warm. The bugs were bad a couple nights on the balcony. A fan on the balcony would have helped with the bugs.

Awesome location quick walk to the dive centre and the beach is on your doorstep ? facilities are good and the staff are very accommodating

The place could do with aircon for the really hot days - minor 1st world problem ?

    10CavanaghPosted on: 1-17-2025

Location was unreal the sea on your doorstep so chilled out listen to the kookaburra sing evening and morning and the sounds of the wild birds and frogs this is one gorgeous place to stay

The bus timetable why they all follow each other in threes is mad but hey it's all part of the Australian experience

    4DarraghPosted on: 1-13-2025

    proximity to the beach.

owner told us upon check in that he was short staffed. this was obvious by the general untidiness of the rooms inparticular dirty dishes and cups. owner also complined that one of his staff members family had been stabbed. not what you want to hear at checkin. booked 2 rooms to accommodate wife and 2 children. provided us with 2 unconnected rooms which resulted in us having to split up at night time to keep children safe, esp in light of the story about stabbings at check in. Terrible wifi.

Poorly equipped kitchenette and bbq area

    Bad

We lasted 15minutes. The property was disgusting and we were not going stay.

    7BeckPosted on: 11-20-2024

The location to the beach was amazing. We were lucky enough to have an apartment on the top floor so the view was beautiful.

The bathroom had shaved whisker hair in the ledge in the bathroom . The bed was super hard. Other than that a good facility.

    10WarwickPosted on: 11-10-2024

The location was great, and we had a great time there. It was very relaxing to hear the ocean when we were sitting on the balcony and through the night. It was also handy to the bowls club which was great. It is a great place to stay, and we would recommend it anyone planning on coming to Straddie!

If you have mobility problems, it might be better to take the lower level as it can be a problem getting to the upper levels as there is no lifts.
