Catlins Area Motel

It was in a central place in the Catlins so that we could do day trips. It was a good size space to spend 3 nights at.

Spacious and spotless had everything you would need

The accommodations consist of three small duplexes (6 units in total). Each duplex is like a small home with a wide shared parking spot (easily fits one car for each unit). We could not hear the couple next door even though we likely have a shared bedroom wall. The kitchen and bathrooms were both a good size with the toilet in its own small enclosed area. The bedroom is small, but the bed comfortable. The living space consists of a futon facing the TV and a single bed under the TV. There is even a small patio with deck chairs out the back slider. As Owaka is a very small town, it's a short walk on sidewalks to the Four Square supermarket and the excellent Lumberjack Cafe and Restaurant (make a reservation in advance or you might not be able to eat here). Between the accommodations and dinner, the stay in tiny Owaka far exceeded my expectations!

The only challenge was maneuvering the car into the parking area in front of the units because of the narrow driveway through the complex.

spotlessly clean and tidy. Nice decor. Well appointed kitchen with new/modern appliances. Great water pressure, both hot and cold. Easy walk to Cafes, pub, supermarket etc.

Shower cubicle was clean but tired, as was the stair carpet.

Liked the garden and carport parking. Host is very responsive. Kitchen fully equipped. Liked the Owaka location. Lumberjack cafe is fantastic. Loved Jack’s Beach and Blowhole, Lost Gypsy in Papatowai. Liked having windows on both sides of the unit. Spacious living area

Furnishings are extremely basic and inexpensive. Didn’t realize we would have two single beds instead of a queen size.

Spacious, clean, very comfortable. It had all the amenities required for a one or more night stay.

The room was spacious and everything was clean. Tessa was very helpful in giving me some local knowledge of what to see and do in the area.

Booked for three nights, left after one because of the constant loud "music" from the neighbours directly behind the unit.Would have affected all five units. From 7pm untill 1.30am. Not sure why the owners of the motel did not deal with it, can't be good for their business

Lovely motel, gardens, sunny and quiet

We booked a large double bed, confirmed in our booking description, however only twin beds on arrival & took a while to get a response on whether we could change units, which was disappointing

Short stay for us as we got in late and left early, but all was clean and spacious. Easy parking and staff helpful.
