    Pros +

    • Easy to check-in and use it as a base camp.
    • Walkable to Forest Preserve, as well as Hanson and Hoyt Park. The Bar on weekday evenings to invite friends to visit.
    • Nice clean modern room.

    Cons -

    • Hard to control the room temperature. Very cold unless you turn off heating and cooling.
    • A walkable restaurant would be very useful. The old Wauwatosa pump station would make a perfect location.
    • The main lobby bar area was extremely noisy until past midnight and then was busy and early for breakfast. We were down the hall and could not sleep through all the noise. I wish we would have been placed somewhere else in the hotel.

With the couch/trundle bed, the room was perfect for 4 adults and 1 child. The location was great. Very convenient if you're going to the state fair ground or zoo.

The front desk was unprofessional. We went out for the evening and upon returning to the hotel, the person behind the counter was on a personal call. They did not acknowledge us and continued shouting and cursing over the phone.

    The proximity to Children's WI

Staff were terrible, I was double charged and it has still not been fixed. Horrible experience.

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-14-2022

Clean, updated, spacious room, all staff very polite and accommodating.

One elevator wasn't working and the bar wasn't open due to staffing issues...which I guess is a problem everywhere.

I had contact with 3 staff members. All were very friendly.

There was a bunch of hair on the bathroom counter. I try to be realistic- you may find hair in my home bathroom. This was very noticeable and kinda gross.

This place was very clean and spotless. Everyone at the front desk was very professional and courteous and they treated me just like they Retreat family I felt very happy here

Everything at this place was perfect.

    Flexibility and friendliness

We didn't actually stay but from the limited contact we had with staff, they were very friendly, understanding and flexible.

    6Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-30-2020

The room was clean. Barn door was aesthetically beautiful, but lit up the whole room if someone used it while others were sleeping.

Worst breakfast ever!!! There was an awful muffin, sour oranges, bananas, and water. That is not a breakfast even during COVID. Wrapped sandwiches, fruit cups, yogurt and choices of baked goods would take very little effort. But less effort was chosen.

    6Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-30-2020

The rooms are clean and spacious.

The “breakfast” was atrocious. I can’t seriously believe that was considered to be an offering of breakfast. Even in COVID, there should have individual cereals, individual yogurts, juices, Wrapped Breakfast sandwiches that could be microwaved. Awfu

    Location

The plastic strip at the bottom of the shower doors are gross and need replacement occasionally.
