Pros +
- Très bien situé . Belle décorations. Piscine entourée de Hans Mmacs super!
- The hotel was charming. Excellent location. Staff were extremeley helpful and pleasant. Breakfasts were great. Will definitely use again when in Merida. Had a great vacation
- The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The scenery within the hotel grounds was very beautiful and calming. The room was quaint and clean. The area was very quiet and there is great coffee/restaurants nearby.
Cons -
- Extremely minor points - pillows could have been a little softer. The ceiling fan was on high speed and the adjustment chain was missing, so could not leave on all night.
- Some of the fixtures in the bathroom were old and needed attention (the tissue holder). It would be nice to be able to adjust the speed of the fan, it was faster than I would have prefered.
- Booked a room with garden view, got a room with wrought iron bars facing a wall approx 2 1/2 feet outside the window, it was dark and gloomy. The place is in dire need of renovation.

The staff was very friendly and attentive.Didn’t have to wait for the car parking help, they jumped right on it.

Elegant historic property, beautiful patios, gardens, and swimming pool.
Restaurant could have been better.
This was our second time staying at Fray Diego. We like being close to the main square and yet being in a very quiet garden space. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in giving us a room suited to my husband's mobility issues, and connecting us to an English-speaking doctor for a minor medical issue. The pool is good-sized, and the hammocks around the pool are very inviting. We liked having breakfast in the hotel, although it wasn't included in our room rate.
Water! Our cleaner brought 2 or 3 small bottles of water a day but most hotels provide a water station for refilling water bottles. Ecologically it bothers us to use small plastic bottles. Central water stations would seem to be more economical for the hotel as well as better for the environment.
Centrally located , quiet, good breakfast, great staff.
We had three rooms, with a set of grandparents, then two families with tw kids each. The central courtyard with a pool was fantastic. We were a shoe pet walk to a beautiful small square and a longer but doable walk to a huge park with a playground and great restaurants. A fabulous place to stay.
The staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was great. Also, it is close to the main plaza, and there is an economical market footsteps away from the hotel.
The beds are not comfortable, the bathrooms are tiny and make you not want to take a shower, and the air conditioning is extremely loud, so it is hard to get a good night’s rest. I suppose it is a historic building, but it is no excuse to have such shoddy facilities. In sum, we overpaid for our stay and will never return.
Central location, conveniently walkable to most things we came to see. Free welcome drink at the bar. Free valet parking (I prefer to do it myself so I can easily get it anytime, but it worked and they were always available to get it for us). Friendly staff. Pretty courtyard area.
Sheets and towels were old, thin, and had some stains. The shower was really uncomfortable - the water pressure was uneven with some very aggressive streams of water that hurt, and others that were very weak, just misty. The air conditioning units were old - powerful enough to cool the rooms well - but old style thermostats meant there was no way to have them auto turn on or off to maintain a certain temperature and they were loud, so for the night we turned it off and just kept the ceiling fan on. Bathrooms are worn, they do a decent job cleaning them but there is some stuff that won't come out, mold in the corners, some cracks in the tile - our shower was not like the newer one in the photos with sparkly white tile, maybe some rooms have had more upgrades but it's an old building and it shows. With most rooms surrounding the pool in the couryard, every evening we would get a few mosquitos in the room when opening the door to get in and out.
Beautiful historical property very serene. Staff was so polite and helpful.
Nothing hot water to take a shower. Otherwise perfect space.
Great atmósfera, near good squares and parks and restaurants
When there are others using the common space (including staff) it can be noisy. The sound carries well.
Everything went well, from checking in to checking out, with the attentive, courteous and promptly helpful staff daily
Did not expect anything better
Excellent location only a couple of blocks from the main square.
Dishonest advertising-they advertised that we were getting a garden view in the room we originally booked but the room had one small window which looked out onto a stairway. We asked for a different room which they did accomodate-water pressure was terrible, hot water not always available, furnishings very plain.
Beautiful building very close to the center
Bathroom needs an upgrade.
I liked your room and that they helped us give information on where to go to visit
I only stayed one day at the hotel, what they offer online is not the same as when you arrive, Merida is a very hot place, they didn't allow us to use the pool, I asked for my refund because I paid in cash, they told me they would give me back the money for 2 days that I didn't use, they asked me for my Mexican account and I haven't received my money.
The staff was very attentive and friendly; they did their best to make our stay comfortable. good location. I didn't like the breakfast, we felt safe walking at any time in the streets, there was a lot of precent of police in the city.
I was very unhappy that they control the thermostat. it was never signal for the T.V, they had power problems. two days that we stay, it only affect us one day of the two. price to much for the place. stay 7 days.
Beautiful and very friendly, excellent pool.
Stingy with the wash clothes.
Style of hotel and central location
Breakfast was average and no lift to our room on second floor.
This is the second time that I stay in this beautiful hotel, right in the centre of Merida and I would stay many more times in the future! It is a relatively small hotel so it feels private, but also it is big enough to have a pool, a restaurant with a great breakfast included, and the rooms are spacious. Even though it is right in the centre (only a block and a half away from the main square), the hotel is very quiet at night and you can get a good night sleep. The rooms are well equipped with air conditioning (essential in a city as hot as Merida!) and all the toiletries you may need are provided. The building is beautiful and the garden with the pool is excellent. But the best about this hotel is the staff! they are incredibly friendly, kind and attentive. They were very easy when we checked in and even offered us a room that they thought would suit us best with young children. Our flight left Merida late at night so we checked out but we were able to keep our luggage in a safe place and continue to enjoy the pool, which very conveniently also has a toilet and a shower nearby, so we could freshen up before our travel. Thanks again friends for such an enjoyable and wonderful stay! Esperamos verlos pronto otra vez!
