About

Only a 20-minute drive from the historic center of Mérida, Hacienda Santa Cruz is set in lush gardens and has 2 outdoor swimming pools. Rooms and facilities are located in the hacienda’s separate buildings. All the rooms are in the Casa Principal, the former country estate’s main house. Each room has a unique décor featuring colorful textiles or brightly-painted walls. They all have a ceiling fan and air conditioning, a dressing room and a private bathroom. The Casa de Maquina restaurant, located in the old machine house, has a terrace, bar and swimming pool, and serves Mexican and French-Creole cuisine, as well as Asian and Italian dishes. The Chichen Itza Mayan ruins are 81 mi southwest of the Hacienda. The Uxmal ruins are about an hour’s drive to the south. Mérida international airport, with services to major Mexican cities, including D.F and Cancún, and international destinations, such as Miami, Houston and La Havana, is just a 10-minute drive away.

    Pros +

    • The grounds are absolutely breathtaking
    • The room was very clean and well appointed.
    • Okay-ish property outside of Merida but overall disappointing stay

    Cons -

    • The pool areas were not well maintained, the cenote and pools were not clean, the beds around the main pool were filthy dirty. The restaurant was way overpriced for average food and very small portions. The service from staff in the morning was not good at all. Too many things that need to be changed. The property has a lot of potential so it’s too bad.
    • Most of the staff did not speak English, and it was very hard to communicate. It was really hard to get drinking water, and we had to go to the reception to ask for water bottles. The shower in our room was broken. And the whole property had very poor lighting at night. Overall the property is not managed properly. The restaurant is overpriced and the food was just okay.
    • The location is not close too much. Unless you want to eat at the hacienda it’s about a 30 minute ride into Merida

The hacienda is very large with many great spaces including 2 pools, a cenote and great walking/biking paths. The service was the best part. We had a very responsive concierge to help with tours. And the other staff were very friendly.

Everything. The site is absolutely gorgeous, staff are kind, food is delicious, prices reasonable.

Nothing. Every thing is top notch. Only complaint is we ran out of hot water before we could fill the massive tub.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds and the room were beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

The grounds were vast and the staff lovely. Also only 20 minutes from Mérida city centre. It has as 2 pools, plus the man-made cenote and plenty of space to sit and relax. I also really enjoyed all the trees and greenery after being in the city for so long. At night, there were lots of lovely hanging lights making everywhere look pretty, although quite a few weren't working. Lovely massage and good communication from reception even prior to our stay.

The room and the food were poor quality. The room was very basic, with dusty furniture, broken floor tiles and taps that weren't properly attached to the wall. The food was dry, only paper napkins and just lacking any finesse despite the lovely old building with incredibly high ceilings.

The place is beautiful, It is a place that combines the beauty of the past with the comfort of the present. The food is very good. And The staff was very kind, friendly and attentive.

    no complains.

Honestly not much. The interior of the Valentina's restaurant was nice. The property itself is not bad but absolutely not well maintained. Such a wasted potential

So many things:- first of all nobody welcomed us. After a while a lady arrived for the check in. No one took the bags to the room and at check out no one came to help us. - the whole staff doesn't speak English at all and also in Spanish it's very difficult to communicate. - there are 2 pools and one has no sun beds and the other one has 4 (obviously taken) - the artificial Cenote was disgusting. A layer of seaweed and dirt covering the top. Definitely not welcoming - the room: we had a suite paid €340, it was not a suite at all. The room itself was ok but the sink faucet was not working well. There were 3 windows with no curtains so in the morning at 6am the light was already coming in. - Valentina's restaurant: it was just us and it took for ever. 1 hour for 2 main dishes. The staff is so slow. They were nice but absolutely not prepared and trained. The breakfast: we had American breakfast. The pastries and the food was below average. I asked for the yogurt, granola and fruit bowl and it was just fruit with one spoon of yogurt. I asked for more yogurt and they brought me an espresso cup of yogurt: A JOKE! Conclusion: a waste of a day in a terrible place. I was almost thinking of asking my money back. For the sake of your holiday, please do not go there.

The grounds were beautiful, and the spa was a real treat.

Limited menu at the restaurants - I would prefer more variety in meals.

Amazing room, lovely outdoors, friendly staff.

    Too pricy restaurant.

    4BarbaraPosted on: 3-21-2023

The buildings and gardens are beautiful. The deco in the rooms is just ok if not quite dreadful in the main reception building.

The breakfast was of very poor quality, and definitely not enough! one piece of bread/person with continental breakfast!! (+ a small plate of fruit + coffee or tea)Let's not talk about the service, inexistant.

    6Professor J.Posted on: 2-20-2023

Quite, clean and pastoral. Nice and well kept gardens all around.

The walls are so thin that you can here your next door neighbor snoring. The ceilings full of moth. The continental breakfast is very much disappointing and poor. the service at the restaurant is two slow and unprofessional. Room service is very bad.

The property is niceAtmosphere, locations for photo, gardens - absolutely amazing

The worst thing is the fact that we couldn't sleep. They hosted a wedding, the music was super loud till 5 am. Noone cared about the comfort of the guests who came for rest. Noone even apologized. Rooms are humidWe did't have hot water in our suite, because they forgot to turn on heater. Had to wait 1 hour before taking shower. Pools are dirty. Breakfast average but pricy.

Amazing property, large rooms and bathrooms, very quite, nice restaurant

    8PaulaPosted on: 10-19-2022

Different hotel experience at a historical property. At night it was very impressive with the hanging lights. The food and staff were excellent.

The room could have been cleaner and it smelled a little musty. The TV also had a large black line going through the screen making it difficult to watch.

    3mariaPosted on: 9-28-2022

    not worht it!

way to expensive! the bathrooms don’t have doors ! no privacy at all! the rooms are not confortable and the pillows are small.they put pesticid evry day twice! and even they tell you to stay in your room the smell gets under the door and you feel it in your longs! the breakfast they give you is miserable and when they hand you the menu is ridicules expensive , scramble eggs $13 .not a place for me ! in merida you find treasure places for much less!

    8AlexPosted on: 8-14-2022

A very nice property, full of charm and authentic. the hotel is big but large enough to do not feel the other guests. The hotel has two pools and a restaurant open the all day, and a nice bar during night.

The restaurant was really OVER priced, the food is tiny and extremely expensive for nothing very small portion and no choice, the menu is quite expensive we got bill of 2600$mxn (150euros) for our small family lunch and nothing crazy at all we did not even order a plate for each we shared few things... !! in the morning we did not paid attention to continental or American breakfast we ordered 4 omelette and come a bill of 1795$MXN such is almost 89 euros for 4 omelette ... I am still make this joke and smile but the price are not faire at all, you should avoid the restaurant and go to Merida to eat and enjoy really food.

We loved the cenote, the room and comfy bed, the food, the ambiance, but especially Carlos the waiter who took great care of us. Thank you

This facility is beautiful, every detail is magnificent. As beautiful as the pictures are on the website, it is more stunning upon arrival. The food in the restaurant was delicious and elegantly prepared. We used the hotel as home base to visit sites near Merida. Later in the trip we stayed in downtown Merida, and with the traffic it took us 30 minutes to get outside of Merida. We highly recommend Hacienda Santa Cruz not only for its beauty but for its easy access to the highway and visiting sites nearby. We also loved our waiter - he was charming and taught us a lot about the area and also gave us excellent meal suggestions.
