City Express by Marriott Merida

Very clean, nice breakfast. Had all the necessary items for a stay. Good restaurants and convenience Ozzo. Very good italian restaurant next door.

Would've loved a small mini fridge. But overall a great stay.

When I booked this Hotel, it showed different pictures than what the Hotel is in reality. I need some action on this matter. The pictures where for another property, and I was not informed. Very displeased.

Everything was nice, Hotel has its own transportation, 1 ride per day included, no pick up, only drop off from the hotel to where you need to go.

It had a big cockroach in the shower, I took a picture of it. They only supply 2 Bath sized towels, no was clothes or face towels..

I didn’t like anything. They did not respect the reservation I had. Didn’t email me or try to call. Once I arrived they said I could stay there. The staff were like we are busy that’s why we didn’t call. And they didn’t help to find another hotel. Because there were no more available. I ended in a hostel.

The breakfast was ok. It could have been better id there was more variety. (Side note: I loved the little packets of butter.)

I didn't like that my room didn't have towels when I went in. I had to ask room service for towels. The wifi was also very tricky at first to access.

There is no closed business center. They put desks in the lobby where it is too noisy to have a phone call or video conference.

Breakfast varieties were limited but I appreciated the effort in serving breakfast.

The towels were dingy and in some cases not clean.

Location

This hotel used to be perfect for an over night stay. The beds are old and uncomfortable, the bathroom was definitely not clean enough and the phone doesn’t even have a cable. We needed to request more towels. It’s a very noisy hotel

There were no warm water and they needed at the end change the room. The rooms were not very clean, the towels stank and the bathroom drain. The telephone was not working to communicate to other rooms. The staff was not very friendly or helpful and they did not give a solution to any complaint or request until we put pressure or spoke with the manager. The girls at the reception were always busy with their cell phones and did not answer when we called from the room to reception and we had to go personally to talk to them. The breakfast was not varied, always the same, and the placement of the food was very poorly distributed, everything very close together.

The hotel in general is fine, it has a good location, not expensive, and the staff was always friendly and helpful.

The main issue was the bathroom, which had a strong smell coming from the drainage in the shower. Even covering the manhole in the shower was not enough to minimise the smell. Closing the bathroom's door helped a little, but not so much and after a while the smell could be perceived in the rest of the room. It looks like it is a structural problem with the whole building, so I guess is not going to be cheap to fix it. Finally, I know that the hotel is not expensive, but the breakfast, included, was quite simple, but for us was good enough, but other may not be quite satisfied with it.

The breakfast was really poor for that money. If you are a frequent traveller like me, forget that. Also the fact, that the room window can not be openned is very unpleasant. All the humidity is remaining in the room and the air condition does not help . There is a swimming pool outside, but It closes at 18:00 when the people mostly return and want to use It. The staff is friendly , doing all he can do, but I think that a system based on the needs of the guests is missing which is a question to the local Mariott network representatives and trainers.

They don’t have the breakfast they have in their pictures, they actually only have continental breakfast, we had to tell them to put more food out because they they wouldn’t fill the trays out when it was empty.

Be honest with the pictures and tell people the truth about your breakfast also they have a ton of man staying there because they are building the maya train and this guys are disgusting, they kept harassing some of us with their comments. More security..
