Pros +
- The property was clean.
- The place is amazing , great location and very well maintained the place.
- Excellent location, and well maintained property, considering it is in a remodeled colonial era building. Staff attentive and helpful, all with good English. Very quiet despite central location,
Cons -
- The courtyard, lobby dining area was very hot, it was difficult to eat in the heat and enjoy the surroundings. The room was not the best. Our reservation said one living room with separate bedroom and it was not. Very disappointed and I would like a refund.
- Everything, food , location and set up the hotel.
- The room faced the street where it was very loud with music from restaurants nearby. This was really unbearable 3/5 nights. Then there was a wedding and a birthday party at the hotel which had music really loud from the inside of the building. The first night there was also no water for 2 hours, due to a water leak. This is not a crazy thing to happen in Mexico but after a long travel it was really inconvenient to not be able to shower, especially given how much the hotel cost.

We chose this hotel based on location and the pictures on booking.com, because I had walked by it on previous trips to Merida. Excellent location between the main plaza and cathedral, and Parque Hidalgo. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and you can feel the history in the floors, doors and incredible ceiling height. Our delicious breakfast was included every day, and the staff were committed to seeing that we had the most enjoyable time possible. Merida is one of our favourite cities in the world, and we have found a hotel that makes the trip even more special. The staff were so great, helpful and accommodating. We felt at home. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay even better!
Great breakfast included with lots of variety. The bed was very comfy, the AC worked really well, and the TV was big and worked well. Suuuuuper central location next to plaza grande.

The staff was wondering and very helpful with drivers to excursions etc. they were always ready to help with a smile. We were on the parade route so we had a fantastic view from our balcony and could watch from above the crowds.
It was sometimes irritating to have the vendors approach every time you stepped out the door
250 years old property!Beautiful hotel, excellent location.
a little mold on the bathroom walls
Staff was excellent, food delicious, room cleaned everyday. Made me feel so special on my birthday!
It was a little warm for us to eat inside in the mornings. So we couldn't take advantage of the free breakfast.
It is housed in an amazing classic building in the best location in Merida , and the staff was amazingly helpful!
You get the feeling that it’s not maintained properly, and although it’s in a great building it’s not exactly a “boutique hotel”. Very basic breakfast, nothing to be excited for and the rooms although they are designed well, they seem not well maintained.
Location. Staff. Excellent breakfast. Fast WiFi.
My room was facing the street and quite noisy at night.
Planning to stay at Piedra de Agua again when we return to Merida! Location is prime, right across from Cathedral on a quieter street. Hotel is a beautiful stunning building with a very fresh interior (impressive green/blue ribbon art installation in the middle of the hotel )and nice pool/back patio with a peek-a-boo view of the Cathedral. Their staff are very inviting and helpful - we were greeted with a refreshing drink upon arrival and they helped get us situated upon our early arrival. Our room was well sized and comfortable for our party of 4 - though no window as the larger rooms are towards the back.
No windows but that cannot be helped given the parameters of the building.
Beautiful building. Great location.
When we arrived, the hotel was too dark to get to the rooms.
Really cozy place
No AC in all the hotel. Just room.Windows without bug mesh.
Great location, great historic building. Understated from the outside. The patio is gorgeous, same with the breakfast/lobby area if you're in need of a break from the heat.
Some rooms face 60th St. which is VERY busy and there's no sound isolation. If you're a light sleeper, you probably need to request an interior room. My bathroom was smallish, but well appointed.
Great location!
Service for breakfast is not so great. We had to grab our own coffee craft to serve ourselves coffee. We also had to find cups and utensils for our table.
Everything is perfect, it's located in the best place/street in Merida, the staff is incredibly great
Beds are hard
Place is at a great location... but and this is a huge but, the room didnt have a window (no glass) just a wooden panel so the sound from the super busy street is extremely loud. So you can't really sleep at the hotel
Bad
Although we made our reservation for 4 people, they tried to serve breakfast for two people on the first day and demanded an extra fee for the other two breakfasts. They prepared our room for two people, and we tried to manage with only two towels for 4 people for two days. The hotel is very old, the bathrooms are neglected and full of small flies. The towels are torn and neglected. The room is dark and very humid because it does not have a window looking out. They served breakfast for 1 hour on the second day. Although there was only omelet and coffee at breakfast, we could get it very late. We asked them to open our services such as forks and napkins. However, we could not get this service. The waiters provided very bad service. The staff does not know any English. Although we tried to translate in their own language, they did not even understand that. In short, a terrible stay. Only the location is good.
All the employees were super helpful and friendly. The location is great and the hotel is beautiful. Breakfast is also pretty good
Since it is an old building, one could hear some noise from the common areas
Location and staff were exceptional, as well as the backyard pool and restaurant area for breakfast, evenings drinks and working space
