- Location excellent, wonderful ambiance. Excellently maintained centuries old building. Unexpected indoor swimming pool. Superb parking (indoor, direct access to hotel, outside options complicated)Exceptional service from the staff, quickly dealt with a small problem.Nice to easily see the Danzon performance in the plaza on Thursdays and Friday.
Cons -
- Elevetar is really dangerous. When I push the elevator bottom to go down it make a sound like “emergency”. I have to go down by using the stairs . It was harder since I have a knee issue. On my second day, I get into the elevator and it stops in the middle of the way… it was so scary!..I warned the people on the lobby. The answer was: “ about a week the elevator had a maintenance “.
- one of the rooms I rented had a water leak in the bathroom and brought it to the front desk attention, they said they would change my room when I got back from being out, when I got back I had the same room and the same problem, the leak was not fixed and there was water all over the bathroom. Also the I got stuck in the elevator for about 2 minutes and finally I was able to get out after randomly pushing all the floor buttons.
- None... save that the booking system implied that my booking might not have a private bathroom. Not so. ALL rooms have private bathrooms.

The staff is exceptionally wonderful helpful friendly the bed is fantastic high quality the location is great the place is very clean and all Necessities nearby the pool is excellent
Location was great, in the square. Surrounded by bars and restaurants and port a short walk away. Bed comfortable, good a/c. Beautiful old building.
No hot water.Music til 0300am, if you want to sleep do not get a front facing room with balcony. Most Suites have no external windows and are very dark and musty.Advertised safety deposit box, not one!Advertised swimming pool, unusable as under maintenance, this should have been listed.
Great location, nice size room, free parking, wifi.
Illumination through the whole building.... the place is historic, needs way better light to show off better! Elevator took forever... no hot water ( i understand it is Veracruz and is hot weather, but the wife likes hot water no matter what).
I loved the location its write in front of music, the famous arches and vibrant plaza you dont have to go that far to go to places. the check in was easy plus the staff was really friendly and helpfull.
The only thing I did not like, was the bathroom cleaningness, the shower roof was literally covered with mold, and the room reeked of humidity, we got a horrible view of a unfinished constructed parking lot. Besides the bathroommold and the gumidity smell everthing else was great
Great staff!Great location!Personnel was very nice and friendly.
Room not clean, lamps, table, handrail on second level inside the room covered in dust, old rooms with bad smell, humidity all over the place.
Nothing... this hotel is under remodeling, it was noisy and dusty.
Everything!!!!Room look like disgusting no hot water parking sucks. Around the hotel area was blocked. I checked out 2 days earlier due to not being able to rest. Hotel didn't bother in reimbursing me for the inconvenience.... I had to book another hotel were it meet my needs.
Bad
I didn't like anything about this hotel. The employees in this hotel did not do anything to help about the problems we ran into. Until 6/7 hours from the time we checked in. They had us sit in our room where the AC didn't work and there was water all over the bathroom floor. We checked in at 3pm and didn't relocate us to another room until 10:30pm. And they even seem pissed off that they had to move us to a better room. Will not book again.
Location. Although the Zocalo was very noisy until 3 a.m.
Changed rooms as the first one had no window and smelled mouldy
The building, on the outside at least, is lovely. That and the location is really the only reason this hotel still has acceptable reviews. And the parking is free.
The first room had a broken window with wind howling unto the room so we asked to change. This was done without a problem. The second room had a VERY mouldy bathroom, a badly fixed seal on the toilet and peeling paint. The skirting boards under the sink have never been cleaned (all the skirting boards and corners are very dirty) and the section behind the door has not been done for a while either . The window is so filthy it might as well not be there - you can't see out and almost no light gets in. To top it all off there was no hot water.
The staff were friendly and the hotel is in a great location. I slept fine and had no issues.
It is an old hotel. Most of the fixtures are dated. The elevator only allows two people at one time and is slow.
The location is almost too good because you are so close to the plaza the music pours into your room. We stayed 5 nights. The first night in an interior room that was dark and quiet. The next 4 nights we had a balcony room overlooking the plaza Much brighter with quite a bit of loud music after 10.pm. You can walk to the malecon and the market is about 8 blocks You can have a drink or a bite to eat right outside the hotelGood breakfast at Cafe el Alba only one block away
I wish the rooms werent on two levels. You have to climb a staircase to use the bathroom if you are downstairs on the balcony
Will never go back
Many problems internet and tv didn’t work, the AC didn’t work, the elevator didn’t work. No hot water and there was mold in the bathroom. We mentioned all of these thing the the reception and they were all. Very rude and just said “sometimes that’s just how things are here” I would have just left and found another hotel but I had already paid for it.
Rooms felt very regal and were spacious. The hotel itself is very elegant and in a great location on the main zócalo.
The older style of the hotel means less "mod-cons" - the showers weren't super powerful, the lighting not super bright etc.
We don’t used the restaurant there The location it’s the best In the front of the hotel have a plaza in the night there is diferente live music I liked
There is people working in the hotel during the day and smell fresh paint all around but I think was okay because they are remodeling the place for a better service
Great location, right in front of the Zocalo of Veracruz, in the historical center
The room doors. There wasn’t any lock from inside to secure the door from opening.
Location was great
Waiting to get checked in Checked in time was 3pm but the rooms were not ready until 4pm Waited for an hour
