    Pros +

    • I liked that is was cozy and unique. I liked that it is smaller (boutique) I really loved the pool and beach!
    • Perfect hotel for a calm and relaxing vacation. No need to rush from the room to the restaurant then back to room then to the pool and back. All is located in same small area. Only 6 rooms in the hotel, no crowd. Beach is fully private, no people at all.
    • Great location in remote area overlooking the ocean. Nice and comfy apartment, very friendly stuff, quietandrelaxing neighbourhood. Just five minutes walk to the beach. Dont forget to bring anything you might need during your stay as there are no shops in the area.

    Cons -

    • A few grocery items available would really help…pretty far to find what you need. The items displayed for sale in the display case were great. They were bought while we were there and it would be nice if there was more jewelry, clothes etc.
    • I would say the vegetarian ONLY hotel restaurant counts as downside, at least for me.Luckily there are two other restaurants at the beach therefore regular dining is not a big deal.
    • Staff need training in coffee making. We tried a couple of times and no more,

We spent a week at Casa Mauna, we had stayed before so were aware of the vegan menus and all the steps!!On arrival there was a problem with our booked apt. so were obliged to spend one night in another (No 3). The next day, the change was handled extremely well by the staff, everything was moved and placed in exactly the same place in the one we had booked (No 6).Most of the staff were very pleasant, highlight the cleaning staff - excellent.Very happy to stay in No. 6, definitely suits us, view slightly blocked but away for the restaurant/pool noise.Vegetation has grown a lot, a little trimming would enhance the view/surroundings.Breakfast suffered a little from the availability and quality of the fruit.

Staff need training in coffee making. We tried a couple of times and no more,

The view of the ocean is incredible for sunset, the pool is perfect size and temperature, and the food is perfectly adequate.

The staff never told us we have free breakfasts.. The couch is the most uncomfortable couch I've ever sat on, and the paintings actually gave my wife a nightmare. I'd suggest removing all the paintings and replacing them with happier, colorful ones.

Hidden gem located 2 minutes from a gorgeous bay that was completely empty. Photos did not do this place justice. The views are epic from every room, with large balconies that are perfect for eating or hanging in the hammock. The apartment was well equipped, very liveable with all the amenities you would need for a longer stay, including filtered water, ample cooking utensils, and fans/a/c plus mosquito screens on windows. As a vegan, I was stoked to have so many delicious food options. The infinity pool is gorgeous. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Defo will return!

Clean, nice location, kind staff and beautiful view.

The area around the hotel seems to be still very underdeveloped. To be honest the price is a too high for a “breakfast” only (adding up the lunch/dinner it gets very expensive for what a standard hotel is, no luxury). Beds and sofa were not comfortable.

The beach by walking distance, the restaurant and the pool were amazing. Staff was friendly as well. They helped us a lot recovering some chargers we left on the room.

Upstairs neighbors were kind of loud, we could hear them stamping on the floor.

Our stay at Casa Mauna was excellent. The property looks exactly as it does on the pictures and was extremely well kept and maintained. The Vegan food options offered a lot of variety and the portions were ample, this included breakfast which was exceptional. The vibe was very chill and as I was travelling with 2 children so it was nice that the property was small enough that we could all freely and safely be around the rooms/restaurant/pool without needing to stay together the whole time. It was an easy walk down to the beach, which was beautiful and almost deserted. As with most places along the pacific it was not ideal for swimming but you could certainly bob about in the shallower parts. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodated all of our needs.

There was nothing to report the hotel that we didn't like just a couple of tips - - the hotel is at least 1 hour from excursions such as Hualtulco, Turtle Release or Horse Riding so if you don't rent a car be prepared to pay a premium for taxi rides to any of these places. - on the way from the airport we asked the taxi driver to stop at a convenience store to get some provisions such as tortillas, chips, yoghurt, soup etc, so that we can make the most of the kitchen. There are no stores around so pick things up en route. (Water is included and free in the room and restaurant). - There is another hotel/restaurant en route to the beach where you can explore another menu if you are not vegan (or have picky eaters!!) however the restaurant at Casa Mauna was extremely good and had a wide variety of options.

Casa Maina is a hidden gem about 20 minutes from the Huatulco airport in the tiny community of Salchi. Beautifully appointed suites with kitchen facilities and lovely big balcony with a spectacular view of the ocean. Wonderful hosts and great staff. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We actually kind of liked that it was off the beaten track but you should be aware that a car is needed if you want to buy groceries or explore beyond the hotel.

The breakfast was amazing. I am not vegan but my partner is and I and the other guests at the time of stay absolutely loved the breakfast and the options. By the end when I wanted to get fish and the other places in the area were closed I was secretly happy as the food at Casa Mauna is deeeellicious. Summer rolls were favourite but all the mains and breakfast options are amazing and made with so much care. Our romantic dinner was delicious and very sweet. The vegan baileys??? Amazing. We were also very excited to see so many birds and butterflies (we are from London lol) and the hummingbirds coming to plants during breakfast was a highlight ? Lovely staff, met Euan (owner) and his son - very lovely people. Made some wonderful friends during our stay too.

I think you probably could do with a car to avoid issues and cost getting around and if you wanted to go to Huatulco as it is isolated. The pool is lovely but if you want to swim in the sea it is too choppy and getting to the other beaches on foot is possible but hot work especially if you need to carry supplies (umbrella, cool box etc) however we did not need to go anywhere as the suites and pool and beach were enough for 4 days. Longer and you may consider alternatives.

Quiet, comfortable, laidback. Nice terrace. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfy bed. Infinity pool. Food is excellent. Very nice deco and design. Cute little beach 5/10 min away from hotel if you don’t mind the stairs.

The view on the ocean in most of the units is partial. You see a bit of the ocean but not enough to fully enjoy it or to see sunset/sunrise. I was disappointed about that as they advertised ocean view . Loads of mosquitos. Location away from everything if you plan to cook make sure you buy your groceries in Huatulco. We did not rent a car so we were depending in taxi which cost about 750.000 pesos from La Crucecita.

Enjoyed being in a tranquil setting and having all required amenities at the hotel. The suite had a kitchen and small fridge which we utilized daily. The beach was a 5 min walk and the hotel provides towels and an umbrella to take with you. We had the beach to ourselves which was a major bonus. We very much enjoyed their fruit smoothies to start the day and a cocktail to end the day.

This is being picky as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Mauna. The variety of lunch and dinner food offerings could be better. The flavours started to taste the same in many of the dishes. Other local restaurants were closed during our visit. We didn’t buy enough groceries for our stay which was a lesson learned on our part. Make sure you bring extra pesos to account for taxis and eating at other restaurants.

Big, spacious apartment, very fast WiFi, very good vegan food, super friendly staff, umbrellas for the beach, good towels, clean pool. Altogether a very nice hotel!

A bit off the beaten track, but you should know what you are booking ;-)

the view, the size of the rooms, the infinity pool, the food from the restaurant.

    could not think of anything

Casa Mauna is located in Salchi, a remote area, with stunning landscapes and beach. The accommodation facing the sea are wonderful and the pool with its lovely cocktails made the stay just perfect.

While the food from the vegan restaurant is delicious, I would have appreciated some more diversity and some non vegan options leveraging the seafood and local delicacies.

The experience was calm and relaxed. A great place to chill out. You have really grate staff. They were always helpful if needed. I'm not a vegan but the food was great.

    The fruit smoothy wasn't available!

Beautiful spacious and comfortable rooms with stunning views. Nice vegan food.

We (Waze) had some trouble finding the place.
