Hotel Torifito Hakata Gion

Excellent location. Kind staff. Excellent food at the breakfast restaurant.

The room design was very inconvenient, whereby we cannot open the large windows that face the street and residential buildings. The twin room was long and narrow, leaving barely enough spaces for one person to cross the room at the long end of the beds. The small space further complicates human movements as the desk in front of TV was not movable, fixated to the wall. Overall, the design was irritating at best.

The walk from the nearest train station was 10 minutes and there were a lot of bus options in the area.

We booked a room with a queen sized bed and it was very uncomfortable. I booked this hotel because other reviews said the beds were comfortable, and it wasn't true for us. Plus, there is no water service for the rooms, so you have to go to an entirely different floor to get cold water and ice.

The price is low so my expectations were also low but this was a fantastic stay ! The beds were spacious which was not something we’d seen in the rest of Japan. The entryway was also spacious so leaving your suitcase by the front door was easy. The onsen was great and the complimentary popsicles hit the spot :) There are several places to eat nearby and it takes maybe 5-10 minutes to get to the main street by the canal

Value for money! Walking distance to my conference centre. Did the job. Courteous staff, clean , quiet.

Very clean and well maintained. Great housekeeping and front desk staff. We loved the welcome with a warm tea from the vending machine in the lobby. Great AC.Every room has an air filter. Our filter was a bit overused though. It that’s just a very minor thing compared to all the great time we had. Good service on all levels, the room is spacious and the Onsen inviting.

This location is not far from shrines and you can feel the history of the old district of the city in this area. It's a more quiet neighborhood but doesn't feel like you're in the middle of the city. If you like shopping, it's a couple more blocks away but nothing is far too get to from this hotel.

Onsen was a bit too hot. But that's just me.

The staff are kind and the Onsen is a great space to reset.

The rooms are super small compared to how they look in pictures and the bed was not super comfortable. It was an ok value but not the best deal.
