Black Lava Hostel and Lodge

Good view, great location, especially if you want to do the sunrise hike of mount batur (you start the hike directly from the hotel)

Sunrise hike is a bit expensive. They insist that it is a private tour (each group has a guide), but it is not really necessary (the day we took it, we were 4 tourists for 3 guides...) Also there are a lot of flies and it can be annoying when eating.

The staff was super nice and took the best care of me, super grateful.Also, the view and the hot pool are amazing, would definitely recommend staying there.

The hot springs, location, friendly staff, lockers in the shared room, free breakfast and the cheap price.

Not the property but Kintamani itself has too many flies

Staff was very nice. Liked the hotspring a lot. The mattress was cozy. The food was nice and good prices. The organised hike with the guide was perfect. I would go back.

The dorm was quite stinking of sweat the first night, the second night was good (it is not the hostels fault, but maybe it would worth installing something to exchange the air in the room without letting in the flies)There was only one shower and one toilet. The flies but this is everywhere in Kintamani.

Beautiful place in the middle of the nature, where you are surrounded by mountains , ocean, greenery all around. Our room was nice with a natural hot water spring plunge pool. Absolutely calm place for rejuvenation.

Like: booked this for the hotspring pool and because it is near Mt Batur if you plan to hike (which i did). I booked the trek tour with the hostel and it was a difficult one for someone who has not hiked since pandemic started (but I survived, thankfully ?).Dislike: going out of Kintamani is very expensive so even if the location is good, one needs to shell out a lot via private local drivers. A bit far from the restos.

If you are at Kintamani and if you need a quiet place with a stunning view of the lake / mountain along with hot water pool, this is the place. The place is basic / backpacker type but perfect for trekking around the area and explore the place. They can arrange the bike rentals, taxi back to other places, trekking to Mt. Batur and other activities on a nominal price.

The restaurant food is basic. You can go to town / explore near by restaurants for good food.

The hot springs and the bed was very comfortable

On top of hill with real bad pavement- i was scared to rent a scooter You really can’t move around without a scooter. Mobility became a issue for me. No grab or gojeck available in the area . Local mafia has banned all online ride hailing apps

Booked a place to stay just for the night while doing Mt Batur in the morning, and was unexpectedly blown away by the hostel! The entire property has a real cool feel to it, it also boasts INCREDIBLE views. It rained all afternoon while I was there, but after a few hours of hiding out/reading I simply couldn't resist the steaming hot springs anymore and had a nice long soak while it rained on me, staring out at Mount Agung. It felt pretty epic. The staff are also super friendly! And they have a sweet cat who loves to fall asleep in your lap.I booked my hike through the hostel, Puja was my guide and he was THE best. Ask for him if you're able. Also as a heads up for any other type B's reading this who maybe aren't planning ahead/like to just show up, there is no Gojek/Grab in Kitamani. So either come in/out with a scooter rental or be prepared to pay minimum 400k to use the hostel's taxi service to leave.

Many things were wonderful. Alex was fantastic and all the guys were helpful. The food was good and beer cold. Hot tubs are cleaned every day with fresh water. The view is remarkable and the free breakfast was also very good.

Of course the flies can be annoying but it could be worse they could be mosquitoes.Their cab prices are too high.

Great location for climbing Mt Batur. Beautiful hot springs and view. It was so relaxing, and I loved my stay. There are many mosquitos/flies but that is just common for the area. I stayed in the 6 person dorm and the beds were comfortable. Lots of space for bags and a locker to keep valuables. Lots of friendly people staying here so perfect for a solo traveler. And the breakfast was simple and nice!

So comfortable beds in the dorms! It's possible to book the Mt Batur guide directly at the hostel, no need to book it in advance. The hot springs are amazing with a beautiful view.

The road going to the hostel is a bit tricky, be careful with your car/bike.
