Pros +
- Restaurant accessibility and service very good. Pool lovely and clean..
- Great staff! Beautiful room and grounds. Bed and pillows were comfy (comes with bug net for the bed which was a plus - no issues with mosquito bites in the room), open air bathroom was so pretty. Direct access to the black sand beach with beautiful clear water and locals offering snorkel tours. Restaurant on-site (great food!) and breakfast included was such a nice touch. WiFi in the room worked great on my phone but I didn’t try on my computer. However, there was WiFi at the restaurant (slow on my computer but worked well on my phone). Overall, it was such a lovely peaceful stay!
- The beach was rich in front of the restaurant and had a decent reef for snorkeling. The affiliated dive center, EuroDive is exceptional. Our bathroom was amazing; outdoor shower and stone tub. The room itself was large with plenty of room to spread out. Restaurant makes an effort to accommodate dietary restrictions.
Cons -
- The unfriendliness of French tourists
- The only small thing is the slow wifi on the computer since I needed it for work. But that’s it!
- It was a little pricey, but our room was quite large.

Location is good, there are many good restaurants nearby, beach is great to swim and to snorkel. ? Beautiful garden
I didn’t like the food in hotel restaurant at all. It was NOT good. It was actually bad. The breakfast was also disappointing. We had a room with breakfast included and ended up having breakfast in other restaurants nearby with great selection and so delicious food. So many mosquitoes in the room, lizards actually inside the room. One was on our ceiling and pooped OMG . It fell from the ceiling right on our floor. It was a lot. We were with a baby, it is not hygienic at all. We said about it to the staff and they just say “yeah it’s normal” . So, think twice if it’s normal for you.The toilet was dirty and disgusting to use.
Hidden Paradise Cottages is the full package - location, facilities, staff and food. We'll be back next year.
Poor Internet! Bali even more than most locations REQUIRES a strong connection. During our 5 days a fair connection was normal but no Internet happened for hours at a time. This why my rating was 9 not 10/10.
The beach side location with snorkelling right off the beach was amazing. Also Liam, one of the managers, was great to interact with in the restaurant.
We didn’t like the fact that our specific requests were completely ignored even though these were regularly communicated over a 6 month period. We constantly got responses of “noted” but on check in none of these requests were honoured. Other than this inconvenience it was a great stay. The lady on the beach constantly pushing for massages is a bit annoying. She should back off if you say no and not continue to pressure and annoy you.
Location was amazing, beach gorgeous, and free breakfast!!
Outdoor bathroom was a bit much, LOTS of caterpillars. But that’s what you sign up for :)
Beautiful traditional cottages in an incredible beachfront setting, with amazing snorkelling and marine life only steps away.Beautiful gardens with a lovely poolStaff were incredibly generous and helpful.I’m definitely returning !
The location is just amazing, there is few steps from your bungalow to the beach. The swimming pool is perfect for families with a little side for toddlers and kids. The restaurant is facing the sea, the menu offers a wide range of occidental and local dishes. Of course, it is good! (try the typical banana pancake with coconut and brown sugar, the grilled fish, the chiken raviolis, chiken sate etc.)You can snorkel directly on the beach, there is a rental point, and as Amed is well known for that, that is amazing. Fist time I swam with a school of cuttlefish!Plus, for a day we hired a nanny at nannyamedbali.com and she was lovely.
The noise at night. Unfortunately and despite how good our stay was at the hotel, we didn't slept well. There is a bunch of roosters on the neighbour's field and they are literally screaming all night long... I recommend asking for a bungalow located close to the other hotel (on the left when you're facing the sea). You can bring earplugs.
great location. very friendly people. We have seen turtles every day.
The staff is by far the best thing here… all very nice and accommodating. The place is nice, beach front and with a chilled vibe.
Food is average although breakfast was decent. The road to access this part of town is terrible. All business on this part of town will suffer more and more as people will choose to stay further south and avoid the Swiss cheese type of road leading here.
Everything, great hotel. Best position, staff all excellent, lovely grounds, loved the plants. Restaurant was really good, great menu. Cocktails, yessss. Cleanliness all throughout.
Great beachfront property. Clean rooms, friendly staff took care of all of our needs. On-site restaurant served delicious food. The beach was nice, space to lounge, private and staff on hand for anything. 5 stars. We will come back.
Staff was extremely kind and accommodating - reception, house-keeping, garden and restaurant alike. The beach was clean and access to the sea was easy. The pool was clean and pleasant. We needed a taxi to take us from one side of the island to the other. The hotel arranged this with bravour.
Hidden Paradise was about 3 km from down-town Amed so needed a taxi or scooter to bridge this distance. A little inconvenient.
Staff location pool garden beachfront
Absolutely no complaints
Great location, snorkling right out the front. Staff extremely lovely and helpful.
Very nice and well kept garden and pool area, good food at restaurant, nice terrace, ok rooms, snorkeling corals right by the beach. NB! Very nice massage SPA right across the road (and slightly to the right) - highly recommended! Also some local restorans in walking distance.
A bit remote and not that easy to reach by hilly roads. Also a bit worn-out - at least bathroom needs renovation (or proper cleaning - wall were stained!) Very few sunbeds by the pool or beach (not a problem in low season, but definitely bad when the place will be more full). And no sunbed-mattresses?? And as often in this area - beach was dirty - local hotels could do something about it, even if the beach is public area.
Snorkeling was available across the beach. You can rent goggles and tube from locals for symbolic money. No need to drive anywhere as the Snorkeling spot was already there, that was great.
Honestly, I expected more. Rooms were dirty, doors were not possible to close fully - in the night, we had to put a chair in front of the door for extra security. Floor was not clean, especially toilet - it smelled like a bar toilet there, asked to clean it but nothing was done. After room cleaning, only the bed was done, and my stuff from the nightstand was on the floor... behind the outdoor toilet was a chicken farm, everything smelled like chicken poo. Stuff not rly friendly, breakfast was very weak, don't expect much. Ah and during the evening you could hear how the rats were running across the ceiling and at 5 AM you have a free wake up call from the roosters behind the wall.Tour in reception was offered 2x more expensive than across the street.I guess this was a good place 20 years ago, but now it's more like a hostel. If you don't expect much then it's OK, but for this money I think you can get a way better place.
Wonderful location with access to a great snorkeling beach. The restaurant was good and the swimming pool lovely.
The rooms are lovely bungalow style. The bathroom was stunning with outdoor showers. Restaurant located out the front overlooking the beach which is great. Breakfast was included and provided lots of variety including juice, fruits, yoghurt, muesli and cooked meal. All delicious. Pool area lovely. The beach has black sand and has nice snorkeling with plenty of fish just off the shore.
There was nothing we didn't like.
