Kelapa Retreat & Spa

Kelapa offers a super remote, peaceful locations with beautiful gardens and a feeling of privacy while being immersed in nature. The villas are spacious and comfortable, and the beach is relatively clean and empty. I enjoyed long walks there as well as through the on-site gardens. Their coconuts and turmeric are grown on-site and were lovely.

I was incentivized to write a review before I checked out, which I did, in exchange for a free massage. Unfortunately, after I'd left reviews on other platforms, the spa kept moving my massage time and ultimately canceled. For me, this didn't leave a positive impression, though I can recommend the massages here as I paid for one upon arrival and thoroughly enjoyed it. While there are many staff members and all are friendly, I think communication between them and guests could be improved. In addition to the scheduling mishaps with the spa (for 'free' massage only), I often had to ask 3 different team members at buffet breakfast which items were vegetarian because they didn't know. It would have been nice to be informed about which items on the menu or at breakfast were grown by them and organic. These are simple fixes that I think could easily be improved.

This is a magical place and one of the best resorts I have been to! The staff was so attentive and went above and beyond with every request. They surprised me with a song for my birthday and booked a car for everything we asked. They always had little extra treats and surprises which was a delight. It was more than 5 star. The rooms are modern and gorgeous. The hotel is not too big and not too small, it's just right. The food was delicious and they had a very deep menu. Full disclosure, Kelapa is far from the airport and traffic is atrocious. When we arrived, it was raining and it took almost 4 hours to arrive, but it was absolutely worth it. I really can't say enough good things about them, this was just a stellar resort experience. This is easily the most romantic hotel I've ever visited.

The hotel can't control this but the drive time to get there is just terrible.

- Location was excellent with a beach right at your doorstep. Although its hard to swim cause of currents. - Staff were super helpful and super nice. Really A+++- Room was very nice. The one we stayed was excellent as it was the corner private villa with a pool. Really nice and has some level of privacy compared to the rest. - Bed was excellent and was super comfortable. - Room space was excellent. Very big and was very nice to have so much space. - private pool was great and nice depth to swim a few strokes. Really great stay. - the pictures from the property is real and very true to what we had when we stayed there. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. The place is really peaceful and an excellent place to just relax and take it easy.

It would have been great if they had more local choices and it was more authentic to the local cuisine.- would be good if they presented the food btr and have proper bain-marie for guest to take the food and to keep it from having insects have a go at it. - easier way to travel to the town. rental bikes would have been great. Kelapa Retreat & Spa is a beautifully maintained and tranquil resort, designed with great attention to detail. It’s the ideal place to unwind and relax. We stayed in the Residence Villa, which was exceptionally spacious, spotlessly clean, and featured a large private pool – absolutely perfect for families.The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant offers breathtaking views of the ocean – a truly memorable setting for any meal.We also appreciated the wide range of available activities, many of which were complimentary. Overall, a truly wonderful experience – we would love to come back!

Beautifully designed property directly on the beach. Great onsite restaurant, their breakfast is worthwhile. We found our stay to be very relaxing and we appreciated the onsite offerings, we didn’t really leave the grounds for 3 days. The location is fantastic if your are looking for a remote getaway, it’s great - but if you’re looking to dine out or explore, there wasn’t much nearby and we skipped long car rides (and heavy traffic). It was great for us, highly recommend! The staff are very kind and attentive.

We stayed in a private villa with its own pool, featuring a spacious bedroom with a huge, comfortable bed, both an indoor and a dreamy outdoor shower under the palm trees. The linens were spotless, and towels were refreshed regularly. Housekeeping visited twice a day to ensure everything was clean and that we had everything we needed. Bottled drinking water was replenished regularly—both in the bathroom and bedroom.Every evening, we returned to find the bed turned down and a small offering delicately placed on it—a thoughtful and touching Balinese tradition that made us feel truly cared for.The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, all delicious and carefully prepared. We tried many different meals and had no digestive issues whatsoever, which is not always a given when traveling. Everything exceeded our expectations.The retreat team clearly puts great effort into creating a high-quality, well-rounded experience. Each day, they offered different activities such as yoga, village tours, cooking classes, beach BBQ nights, or breakfast in the lush green garden. Kelapa Retreat and Spa is a true haven. We chose Kelapa Retreat for the last few days of our stay in Bali and our wedding anniversary, and it was the perfect choice. We felt that they took care of us very well, and our vacation was perfect. Definitely exceeded our expectations.The resort is perfect for a relaxing and quiet vacation, far from stress and hustle. The hotel is about 2 hours from Ubud and 3 hours from the airport. It is not located in any of the busy and loud cities, which definitely makes the trip there worthwhile.From the common spaces to the villas, everything is perfect and well-maintained.The common spaces are vast, and even though the hotel is fully occupied, it remains uncrowded. Practically, you can feel like you are alone. The pools are huge and have a direct view of the ocean.All hotel areas are always decorated and regularly cleaned. Additionally, there is a good internet connection in every of the hotel premises. There is also great security, so the place is definitely safe. Although the nearby village also looks very nice and people are friendly, a bit of security is always welcome.The rooms are also huge and impeccably clean. Also, they are designed with taste and provide a high level of comfort. We stayed in an Ocean Villa, and it was amazing. The patio provides seclusion and comfort.The service as a whole is just perfect. The staff is friendly, helpful, and always smiling.The food is amazing, and the menu offers a wide variety of choices. Indonesian, Italian, and international dishes are available for lunch and dinner. All of them are in huge portions and really delicious.Last but not least, the beach. It is a perfect fine sand beach that has a gentle slope and doesn't get deep quickly. Also, there are no rocks.I highly recommend Kelapa Retreat and Spa for those seeking a relaxing beach vacation.Regarding the comments about prices, yes, it's not budget-friendly, but it's totally worth it.

The upkeep of the rooms and the small personal touches made it extra special for us. The head chief was extremely accommodating and good.One of the highlights was the Queen and King Private Dinner package—an absolutely unforgettable evening that made our week feel extra special. We also had the chance to enjoy coconut tasting and Balinese cooking lessons, which were both fun and enriching.Every morning, we looked forward to the daily breakfast—we loved how we half boarded and were able to taste a bit of everything. The meals were healthy, fresh, and full of flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of Balinese, traditional, and Western dishes served throughout our stay, especially at supper. The food alone is reason enough to return!Our wonderful guide, Putu, took us on three incredible tours—to the Tanah Lot Temple, the Bali Zoo, Bali swing and the Buyan lakes and many more sites.
