    Pros +

    • Good location near by Qianmen Street not far from subway, comfy bed.
    • The staff are very helpful.
    • Location is fantastic, couldn't have picked a better spot. Already on the line to Beijing West Station if you're planning on taking a train out from Beijing. Right in the middle of a bunch of good food and touristy things to do. Walkable to major attractions. The atmosphere and vibe of the place is charming. Good service from the staff.

    Cons -

    • Air quality wasn’t great; and no facilities like gym, etc.
    • The room itself is meh but it does the job. Wifi is okay, not the greatest. However it's a good value considering the location.
    • It was rather tired and run down and not as sparkly as it looks in the pictures. My room was tiny. The desk staff were not particularly friendly.

The location is good for being close to the Forbidden city and the neighborhood is charming as is the hotel building.

It was rather tired and run down and not as sparkly as it looks in the pictures. My room was tiny. The desk staff were not particularly friendly.

This hotel was "good enough" for a budget hotel. It was a bit rundown, but in an excellent location and quaint. The Didi app didnt work as the hotel is in a no go zone for taxis to pick up/drop off, but the staff accomodated. The room I had was not conducive to a shower as the water ran over the entire bathroom floor and into the entry creating a huge mess. The staff did not speak English well, but were very friendly and accomodating.

The location is phenomenal, the vibe is also nice, but it’s needing better care

The room was extremely dirty, the shower was broken and I had to request to be changed

    7DIMITRIOSPosted on: 8-25-2025

Fast check-in and check-out. The gentleman at the reception spoke perfect English. Very convenient location with a metro station very close by and lots of choices of shops and restaurants. Traditional Chinese style with beautiful decoration. It also has a courtyard with a table for smokers.

Some issues in the maintenance of the property.

It's authentic, the staff is friendly and helpful and the location is great.

    The cleanliness

    10BenPosted on: 5-1-2025

The hotel seemed a bit run down and maybe the facilities were not quite so complete as some other places, but it is a historic building 400 years old and built in the Ming period and so the owners are not allowed to modernize at will and everything has to be done slowly with a lot of inspections. So what the place lacks in facilities it makes up for in atmosphere and history, you are really staying in a museum. The location is brilliant, step out and you are in the hutongs, one direction is the tourist region of Qianmen where there are all kinds of eateries and tourist shops, other direction are mazes of hutongs leading to Liulichang where the painters and calligraphers live. Great location.

I can adapt to most things but the lack of a couple of china mugs was a bit annoying, I can't drink coffee out of paper cups.

Amazing location. Between two metro stations (line 8 and line 2). Easy to access Tiananmen Square or Temple of Heaven by foot. Nearby crowdy street with cheap and good food. Personal speaks very good English so it is easy to get some information.

It is an old facility so you have to expect a specific smell in the room it is not that strong but you need to keep the window open to get rid of it. On the other hand towels were changed every day, so apart from the building and room conditions everything was acceptable, maybe consider taking something else if you have allergies etc.

The property itself is so cool and beautiful and the people at the reception were super helpful and nice. Also the location is amazing

It could be easier to find on a map

    7CallumPosted on: 4-26-2025

Central location. Very helpful staff. The building itself is gorgeous.

Our first night, the toilet was blocked, the sink didn’t work for a short time, and the shower was lukewarm. This was fixed but the shower was still only hot every other day. Wallpaper was peeling in a lot of places in the room, and the beds were quite hard.

    8MichaelPosted on: 4-24-2025

Nice and quiet room, great location with many shops and restaurants around, next to the main pedestrian street. Very nice and helpful English speaking staff at the reception.

    3AubreyPosted on: 4-17-2025

Very noisy, you hear everything from all 20 or more rooms around you. Lights stay on outside and due to no curtains in front of the door, the room is lit the entire night. Bathroom floor completely wet when you shower.

    7BálintPosted on: 4-16-2025

The property looks really authentic and the location is perfect. My room was next to the courtyard and it was really noisy all night long but after the first night I used to it. But it was not really for relaxing.

    7RaymondPosted on: 4-14-2025

    The location is quite convenience

Understood the place is old but the cleaning n cleanliness needs much improvement.

    6MelissaPosted on: 4-13-2025

The hotel is very central near to Tiananmen and to many shops and tasty restaurants. The person in the reception talk very good english and all the staff is gentle. They offer Laundry service for 40/50 Eur. We got enough drinking water in bottles everyday. This Hotel would be perfect, if they would care about cleanness. They do make the bed, change the Towels and empty the bin every day but they let grow pink and black mold in the bath and the rooms and corridors are dusty.

    9YudPosted on: 4-12-2025

The room is a bit old and dingy but clean. The hotel Itself is very beautiful in an antique mansion. The location is one of the best near many Hutong sand shopping street. Qianmen street and Tien as. Squares are just a few minutes walk away. The best part is the staffs; Ruby and Wong Xi are excellent and very helpful

    3RobertaPosted on: 4-10-2025

Good location but the overall building is a fixer upper. Shower with no curtains. You shower on the toilet and the water goes everywhere. The whole room was pretty much falling to pieces.
