About
The Royce is located on Melbourne’s grand boulevard, that connects the city’s finest luxury shopping on Collins Street to world-class galleries, gardens and further to the beautiful bayside beaches. Established in 1928, and entirely refreshed in 2022, The Royce takes its inspiration from the golden era of hotels – a time of gala events, secret rendezvous and discreet concierges. When the classic cocktails were invented by hotel bartenders and the martinis flowed. It’s a return to greatness where indulgence is expected and fabulous is celebrated. Intuitive service, lavish detail and flamboyant flourishes distinguish The Royce. The building’s luxurious origins are on full display, from the grand staircase to the statement chandelier in the Ballroom. The glamor is echoed in the splashes of marble, chrome, and velvet in the suites where no expense has been spared. The allure of indulgence comes at every turn. The Bar serves polished dining and iconic cocktails by cozy open fireplaces. Breakfast comes with a flourish in the sunlit glass Terrace. The Royce ballroom is a return to the great era of celebrity-scale weddings, where guests stay over and kick on into the night. Hollywood-style opulence meets contemporary convenience in the rooms, with electronic window furnishings, individual climate control, complimentary Wi-Fi and movies, Dyson Supersonic hairdryers, Koko Black chocolates and Molton Brown toiletries. The Royce is a gold embossed invitation to live a little and have some fun. Pros +
- From arrival to departure, it was an exceptional experience. All the staff are polite, gratious & helpful. A stand out mention must go to Gerard on Reception who immediately allayed my fears for the care of our "Rolls Royce"! Thank you. The beautiful Art Deco style, site history & comfort was perfect. The cleaners must spend hours everyday keeping the mirror finishes sparkling! The chef, Pawan Dutta, deservedly won the Victorian & National Chef of the Year - the food was presented like a work of art & the food was full of flavour and textures; brilliant! The kitchen staff did an amazing job whilst juggling weddings & inhouse dining without a glitch. It was the perfect venue for a special occassion, shared with our family. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.
- Very nice, lovely decor and feel. Staff were amazing and very professional.
- Decor, concierge staff, the bar.
Cons -
- More time to stay longer!
- No bottles of water were provided, just tap water! The heating/cooling was very hard to understand and get right. It was hot or cold all night. The tap in the shower looked very fancy but was very hard to work out how to use.
- Breakfast at the Terrace took almost an hour to hit the table from the time we arrived at the "Wait to be Seated" sign. The food was mediocre. The venue was understaffed. The room air-conditioning was so loud we barely slept.

We were in Melbourne for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Albert Park. A primary reason for choosing the Royce was that is was within walking distance to the venue. That was great, but so was everything else about our stay, starting with the staff, all of whom were helpful, friendly, professional and extremely pleasant. Beyond that, the property exceeded my expectations. Boutique hotels can sometime be a long shot, but in this case hit the mark in every way. The room, dining, cleanliness, location, convenience (not to just Albert Park but to the Melbourne CBD as well, easy access to the tram system. I would stay at the Royce again on a future visit even if not in town for the F1 GP. A special call out to Casey at the reception desk. Incredibly kind, helpful and tolerant of our many questions and requests. Side note: the Royal Botanic Gardens are a short walk away from The Royce and are well worth at least a half day of your time.
Nothing comes to mind.
There was so much to like about this property! The decor, the professional, friendly & efficient service - it was wonderful & we will be back!
The property was gorgeous art deco decor, the bed so comfortable, cleanliness was exceptional.
Big comfy bed, lovely room and overall design of hotel. Really enjoyed our room upgrade.
Only 1 lift operational during our stay. Minor glitch!
Great hotel and excellent customer service. James at reception was awesome. Would highly recommend staying at The Royce

Bit crazy on room service prices
The entrance and public areas were presented beautifully. If there was a pool it would have been amazing
The aircon is a little too loud other than that The Royce is a great place to stay
Design of hotel and great staff
Room size a bit small
The hotel is beautifully decorated with a very open and welcoming space. The staff are all delightful and welcoming. Loved the deluxe room - lots of space. Would definitely return!
The staff that I would like to commend for their outstanding customer service and professionalism: Jill, James, Ella, Kathleen and Gerard. They all went above and beyond what I expected. The room was amazing and the boutique hotel was very luxurious. If you are looking for the best experience and the best room in a beautiful top-end hotel, look no further. We will be back. Everything about this hotel is top drawer and so comfortable! We were even able to check in early and freshen up before touring.
I loved everything about this boutique hotel. The staff made me feel like I was truly their guest!
Loved the disabled room . One suggestion - bathrooms need exhaust fans! The staff were so helpful, the food excellent- pricey, but in keeping with the quality of the hotel in general.
As mentioned- exhaust fans needed in bathrooms.
Stylish art deco design throughout, lovely room & spacious bathroom, perfect breakfast spot. Good location in lovely area of Melbourne.
Staff were fantastic and fixed a small.issue we had with our room by upgrading us to a nicer suite. Service provided was second too none..Highly recommend this boutique hotel..
The refurbishment of this property is fantastic. We had a terrace room and the outdoor furniture was a big win for us as we could enjoy a wine in the sun with friends.
Nothing. Loved everything
