    Pros +

    • Location Grandeur
    • Very good staff, very well-run hotel. Overall great value for the money, and the location is outstanding.
    • Terrific location, great historic preservation, and strong customer service

    Cons -

    • Housekeeping staff was very new. It was their first day at work. Used excessive bleach in the bathroom. Supervisor apologized and explained it was thier first day and they will be trained better.
    • The view from the first floor windows leaves a little to be desired.
    • There was no business centre. To print you had to send it to the front desk. Very inefffucient/inconvenient not to mention a myriad of privacy issues. Simply shocking for a hotel of this calibre. They require a 100/day deposit which is extraordinary.

The hotel is well located with a tram stop outsie the hotel. The rooms were comfortably appointed with above averge bedding and pillows. The concierge were very helpful. The breakfast was fantastic

Everything about it was first class. The location, our room, the cleanliness, the staff and the delicious breakfast buffet with endless choices were perfect. The rooms have automatic blackout curtains with no early morning light creeping into the room.

Staff and location- breakfast was excellent.

Was disappointed that the hotel bar closed at 830pm. There was a restaurant to utilize but prefer to use the hotel. No small take away shop for snacks, had to use the IGA across the street.

    10LesliePosted on: 2-25-2015

The hotel was architecturally gorgeous. Excellent service from the concierge and club staff. Pool area was very zen and peaceful.

Safety bar on jacuzzi was rickety.

Breakfast was great, staff on site were nice

Hot and stuffy rooms, so hot we had to move rooms. No windows or fans for circulation.

    2SulimanPosted on: 2-16-2026

I enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.

I thought the spa water looked dirty. Additionally we had to move rooms at 11pm at night because our AC wasn't working. It was blowing hot air and the management team couldn't fix it so they moved us to a smaller room on a lower level. We had to get dressed and pack our things at 11pm. My sleep was disrupted.

    Comfortable bed. Location.

Bath drain was broken. This should be checked before having any guest stay in said room.

    10CarolePosted on: 2-12-2026

From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left the staff were friendly and helpful, polite and made you feel welcomed. The room was quiet, bed very comfortable and the and a good hot shower too start the day. Breakfast was the highlight, the 2 ladies that greeted us each morning with a big smile and a friendly hello just made our day. The breakfast selection was also fantastic. Would defiantly stay again when in Melbourne.

Bed was awesome. Location awesome. Building is so beautiful.

My curtain didn't work. I enjoy a blacked out room for my afternoon nap. Reception/waiting area could have had more chairs. Milk for coffee and tea could have been a small fresh portion, not long life.

    8CameronPosted on: 1-31-2026

Room was great and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Buffet breakfast. Food was ok but not as wide a selection as usual. No coffee machine which means waiting to order and staff didn't rotate around.

    9JudyPosted on: 1-27-2026

The staff were lovely. We liked getting the text message to see how we were going. My concern about the air con was addressed immediately. The breakfasts were lovely.

The lack of light was the only real disappointment.

    7RenataPosted on: 1-20-2026

The location was good, the room we stayed in was clean but a bit older. It was good for the fact that it was in the CBD and during peak times!

    Room was a bit outdated...

    8ClarePosted on: 1-12-2026

Great location and price last minute.

    Parking separate, room pretty small.

    8LucindaPosted on: 1-11-2026

Nice hotel, good breakfast. Nice spa.

Parking was expensive. Noisy neighbours. Room service had extra fee and was quite expensive. In the heat, the pool area was unbearably hot and the pool water too cold.

    8AlexPosted on: 1-10-2026

Nice location. Great breakfast & room service food.

Pool was slightly chilly especially for young kids.

    10DragosPosted on: 1-9-2026

Room was very nice, the hotel looks amazing, classic. Breakfast was excellent, coffee was very good. pool was very nice and the staff very friendly.
