Everything! It was an absolutely gorgeous, looking castle near quaint towns of Marlow and Bray. Specifically Lia the bartender was very sweet. Beautiful spa facilities. Very close to Heathrow highly recommend.
nothing. I would definitely visit this property again and highly recommend the Hines Head Michelin star pub for special lunch or dinner.
Spa is fantastic, decor is in keeping with the building
The rooms need maintenance and better up keep. It may be a ‘standard’ room, but for the price the baths, for example, shouldn’t be chipped on the bath floor. We also had to move rooms as the noise of the heating was like a generator - however the staff member who assisted us with this was amazing!
the grounds are lovelygood breakfast and lounge area
the rooms are dated / bathrooms need upgrading similar for the spa facilities need a facelift
Scenic location, big beautiful windows and stunning decor.
It does feel like some of the bits in the room need a refresh - whether it’s cold water dripping from the overhead shower head while using the small one, or curtains not closing all the way (however that’s a design fault)
Impeccable grounds, attentive service, old world charm. And did I say, beautiful grounds and river vistas.
The views around the castle and the whole outdoor area were just stunning. It was like something out of a movie, and walking around outside was definitely a highlight. I also really loved learning about the history of the building itself. All the hotel stuff, like the pool and spa, was top-notch, and the place was super clean, everywhere. You could tell they really cared about the little things. And a big shout-out to the people at the front desk and who helped with bags. They were super friendly and helpful. The location is lovely and peaceful, even though we did need a quick 10-minute Uber to get into Marlow town.
My one big problem, and it really bothered me, was the crazy number of bees all over the place. They were everywhere outside, which was a bit annoying, but the worst part was they somehow kept getting into our room, even when we kept all the windows shut tight. It was a real pain and definitely made it harder to fully relax sometimes.
Staff, location, view, cleanliness, and residents.
Rooms, Food, hotel policies( breakfast time, pool time, spa price, food price), this hotel is not good in summer( temp higher than 15C), the sound of wooden floor during the night.
The setting is glorious, especially when the weather is good. Our room was enormous, probably the largest bed we've ever slept in. I think my husband had his own postcode!
The bathroom is rather dated and needs some TLC.
Lovely old property with a lot of character
The rooms, Spa and grounds were fabulous
Overall it was a good experience but some staff do need some re-training
The biggest obstacles related to the pre-arrival/booking and the over zealous incompetent booking staff, as it was far too onerous. We were a larger group of 9 but were not treated as if we were just there for overnight and dinner. Had we have been only 8 it would apparently have been completely different. However the staff once on site were great, although no follow up was made by the Hotel to see if it was a good experience
The ambience and location
Our bedroom. It was very hot, despite leaving the window open all night, we couldn’t turn radiator off. We had no view, just of another building, which was very disappointing. The room had sloping ceilings which meant having to walk around stooping to avoid banger our head. If we had been staying more than one night I would have asked first a different room.
Excellent food and food servers. The breakfast that was included was magnificent. The bar needs a bigger menu. Too few choices. The pool and gym were outstanding. And the grounds were spectacular.
The room was worn especially the bathroom. Shower bordered on dangerous getting in and out. Needs more wall handles . Couldn't see myself in front of the bathroom sink mirror. I'm 6 foot and had to squat to see myself. Toliet took several flushes to flush. Ventilation fan in bathroom did not work. Steamed the room up. Otherwise room was beautiful.
Beautiful old building with lovely grounds . Great views. They have not done anything to spoil it, all the rooms are in the old house, not like so many country house hotels where most of the rooms are in some ugly modern extension.Very nice pool.
Food and drink very expensive! For dinner £75 for 3 courses, excluding service and vegetables , so by the time you’ve added a few drinks , some side dishes and service , it’s well over £100 a head for dinner. Plumbing need a bit of updating , radiators in our room weren’t working due to airlocks but reception told us that maintenance team don’t work weekends!!
The grounds, facilities and hotel were fantastic.
Our room was quite small and the radiators made an extremely loud noise at night that meant I struggled to sleep. Unfortunately,, the light in the fire alarm was quite bright and right above the bed.
The location was beautiful, although areas of the gardens looked a little tired and unkempt. The rooms on the whole are spacious and nicely decorated, we did have an issue with a noisy heating system but management quickly found us a different room without any problem at all. The pool area and spa is a great place to unwind with stunning views.
Parts of the interior are looking a bit tired, I think the restaurant is a bit overpriced for what it is. The hot tub in the spa wasn't working.
Another excellent stay at Danesfield House (our 5th at least!). As usual it was fabulous in all respects. Special thanks go to Hotel Manager Matt Wood who went above and beyond to make it a memorable celebration for us..! Thanks Matt..!!!
Nothing - everything was great.
Stunning setting, great views, beautiful rooms, facilities spot on, and a delicious breakfast.
It was on the expensive side but lovely for a treat/romantic weekend away.
