Pros +
- i like the location & nice setting. Bed was comfortable, nice and warm room with window view of a courtyard.
- Nice second night stay. Breakfast & service was good. Warm room, comfortable bed.
- location very good. Nice atmosphere in the bar for drinks
Cons -
- It would be nice if more food was available. Better area for kettle .
- As mentioned, kettle area should be better - a cord so it reaches the table. Food available as per web advertisement & signs outside .
- generally a bit tatty, especially the bedroom. Fine for a 1-night stay for work but would want a better room if it was a holiday trip. Menu looked a bit limited, and certainly £7.50 for 4 tiny chicken wings wasn't great value.

It was a lovely old inn
The person checking us in didn’t speak any English. The room was clean, but needed TLC. The kitchen was closed due to needing a deep clean so we had to drive a few miles to get something to eat. Breakfast was available, but as the kitchen was needing a deep clean we were not going to risk eating there!
Staff were very busy at change over and they were very friendly ad accomodating
maybe a little discount or a free drink as we had to wait for our room to be ready and got in our roomat 5pm.
Beautiful building with many original features even if walking across the floor and looking along some walls is a bit disorienting with how warped it is. Perfectly situated for West Wycombe park and the Hellfire caves.
Staff at check in was abrupt and a little rude, stained pillow, cracked mug, tv remote didn’t work and most of all there was no hot water even for the sink so was forced to boil the kettle to fill the “bath” (I’m 5ft 2 and still had to bend my knees to sit in the tub) even thou I know we had the biggest room, room 6. I believe our stay was a normal experience as there was even a local who immediately apologised when they asked where we were staying, asking that we don’t leave with a negative impression on the village as everything else on our trip was perfect.
Nice friendly manager, very welcoming and hospitable. Dinner was good. Simple menu with nice choice. It seems food is not served every night but they were happy to help by taking the order early with time to prepare. Wasn't keen to get a take away or eat out. Room was big and spacious and comfortable
A lovely trip to the George and Dragon. Very friendly staff and a clean facilities. A lovely characterful hotel.
Location.
Basic breakfast and expensive, no Choice of eggs.(only fried). No Choice of bread. (Only white). No cereals. No Fruit juice available. No milk supplied for tea at breakfast on first morning.
How old it was
Shower was cold no hot water dog food left in there bed was ripped and the head board didnt go with the bed also loads off dirt over the walls
Disappointed and felt was miss sold.
Everything. Very run down and in urgent need of upgrades. Bedroom was basic with a shower cubicle the size of a small telephone box. Bed was old and thread bare. Shower had to be run for about 5 minutes to warm. Advertised as breakfast included but there was a cost. Advertised as having a restaurant, Fish fingers and chips or chicken snitzel is not a restaurant food. Photos on Booking.com are at least 5years out of date and when it is an excellent place to stay and before it went into administration and was took over. Best to stay clear in my experience.
It's a great little hotel spot. I like the back garden area I like the old vibe it has to it
We didn't like the bed it crippled our backs we couldn't sleep all night we left really early in the morning because it was that uncomfortable apart from that no problems lovely hotel
Good location, decent bed.
The pub swinging sign outside my room was creaking and banging all night, very little sleep! Staff very abrupt on check-in. Check in was 3pm, I arrived there at 2.15. She just barked “it’s at 3.” And turned round. I sat there until 3 when she then gave me the keys. The room was clearly ready all along…
Nice stay - hotel needs redecorating and some basic maintenance like wiring. Room and bed were very clean and comfortable. Bar area needs improving. Staff are nice. Overall great value for money.
Staff are very nice (when they can speak English it helps!). Bar is very tired and needing upgrade as is hotel generally. Room was very ok for price and bed was amazing. Very clean so no issues there. Breakfast needs an overhaul - less cooked I.e. bacon/sausage etc to be less cooked. Limited choice. Will be back again and have been twice recently.
Easy to find with plenty of parking & close to activities.
Rude staff upon arrival, don't arrive early as they are not bothered & won't allow you to leave bags there until your check in time. More for the bikers out there . The Locals are even weary of the new staff where some cannot even speak English & just look at you. Unclean shower with hair still in the drain, wet strip hanging off the shower door, broken soap tray & a weird box above the bath tub, Uneven floors throughout so the carpet is a trip hazard in places Food was terrible.
I was initially excited about our stay after reading the village and hotel’s description and finding the room rate very reasonable. The hotel's charm is undeniable - nestled in a picturesque village with an appealing historic character and charmingly uneven architecture.Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. The room lacked attention to detail - missing headboard, marked walls, and a shower head that wouldn't stay in position (despite excellent water pressure). The bathroom generally needed a renovation. Most disappointing, however, was the cold service from arrival to departure. Our welcome focused primarily on potential damages and rule-breaking penalties rather than hospitality. As a couple simply seeking a comfortable overnight stay, this approach felt unwelcoming.Breakfast, priced at £12.50 per person, was underwhelming with minimal offerings and no options regarding egg preparation. The checkout experience was equally disappointing - no inquiry about our stay or breakfast satisfaction, no expression of gratitude, not even a simple farewell. We merely returned our key, paid for breakfast, received our receipt, and watched as the staff member walked away without another word. It's particularly unfortunate that we only discovered information about the hotel's history and local attractions after checking out, which would have enhanced our experience before our long journey home.
Easy car parking. Size of room and outlook. Towels and bedding fresh and clean. An effort had been made by the cleaner to present the room but sadly fought a losing battle.
Too many faults to list, knobs on furniture broken or missing. Furniture falling apart. Visible mattress worn and stained, Taps to washbasin with little pressure. The floor sloping not in a good way. This was our second stay here and we hoped improvements might have been made but sadly not.
The location is excellent, we had stayed at this hotel years ago and have very happy memories !!! But the room we were given was very substandard, tiles broken in bathroom, could have been the carbon dioxide detector hanging from ceiling, furniture old and marked - was it because we had a small Foxterrier with us ? Downgraded the room but we paid £20 in cash for the priviledge of him. The following week we stayed in Scarborough, got upgraded because of Dog, £20 first night and £5 every day afterwards, excellent room, staff smiled and happy to chat, this room was far cheaper than the George & Dragon, Scarborough Cresent.
Abit of maintenance, smiles and maybe not down grading dog rooms
The shower head in the en-suite was broken, apart from that nice hotel, staff were excellent.
