Pros +
- We loved the location of this hotel the best. It was convenient to restaurants, bars, shopping and other islands in Stockholm, transportation etc...
- Breakfast
- I appreciate that next the reception you can anytime get a complimentary coffee, tea or a biscuits. The view from the hotel was also very nice and when we arrived little surprise waited for us. The stuff was very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this place.
Cons -
- The windows are not sound proof and there is a lot of noise from the alleyway, just the sound of people walking on the gravel and when people are playing loud music on the weekends, it made it hard to sleep. Shower water leaked into the carpeted room.
- Low head clearance in one side of room
- Breakfast is a little limited but not a huge issue.

Great location, walkable distance to a lot of attractions, staff were at front desk 24/7 and very helpful, lobby had a few complimentary snacks and drinks available to guests.
Breakfast is a little limited but not a huge issue.
Location, pretty room, food and staff, all great!
Nothing, everything was wonderful
Very central location. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is amazing and includes such a range of foods. We also loved that there is complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits ababiable all day in reception.
It was good. The heating in the bedrooms was a little hot, but a fan is provided which helped to cool it down.
This was a beautiful traditional hotel that was perfectly located! The staff were super friendly and we felt right at home the minute we walked in. The hotel bed was extremely comfortable! It was one of the best nights sleep of our trip. Thank you to the staff- we will be back!
Nothing!
Perfect location, great breakfast, clean and well maintained rooms.
Room and single bed were a little bit too small.
The greeting from staff, service and breakfast was excellent.
We booked 2 of the same rooms (one for children and the other for the parents). One room was excellent and the other was (clean, neat etc) on (a different floor) the top floor and built into the ceiling space.
Skvely vyhled a jeste lepsi snidane formou svedskych stolu. Mohu velmi doporucit. Personal velmi mily
Wonderful historic building, spacious room with painted wooden ceiling, bringing the Gamla Stan feel right inside. The room decor and appointments are lovely antique-style (but with modern comfort), giving a feel of vintage luxury. Free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby lounge was a great way to warm up after a winter day sightseeing. Breakfast was excellent - all the things you expect from a breakfast buffet, plus a great selection of juices and smoothies, and pancakes. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
While I loved the authenticity of the original historic staircases, my 6 foot 5 partner found them a little low clearance.
Our stay at Hotel Gamla Stan was unforgettable, primarily thanks to the stunning waterfront view from our room. Watching the boats pass by the harbor against the backdrop of Stockholm’s islands was like looking at a living painting. The hotel’s 17th-century charm combined with such a breathtaking vista made our trip truly special.
Amazing breakfast, very good location
Very noisy from the street, the door didn’t close properly
The hotel was really central to the city, and the room was very nice. The breakfast was great, and the when we had to check out very early before breakfast started, they provided us a breakfast bag which we really appreciated. Definitely recommend to stay here
The breakfast and the location was outstanding.
The room was way too small and had no places to layout our belongings. The bed was also quite sall for a couple.
Staff were fantastic. Helpful and polite. We arrived at 7a.m. and we're able to access our unoccupied room. It was snowy, icy and slushy, so that was a huge bonus. Location on the water front and walkable to everything. Plenty of tea and coffee in room, with fridge and kettle.Coffee, tea and hot chocolate with biscuits (cookies) in foyer. Comfortable for waiting if room is not available. Breakfast was excellent buffet with plenty of hot and cold options.Nice view from windows.Loved this place.
Loved everything.
Good location. Friendly staff.
Would not recommend. The only positive part about this hotel is the staff - the gentleman at the front desk was super friendly. Outside of that, not good. We got to our hotel room and realized how disgusting it was. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in months and there was hair everywhere in the bathroom (that was not ours)! Additionally, we had an alarm go off randomly in our room at 10pm and it had to be shut off by the front desk after x minutes. The cookies were stale in the lobby.
Friendly and lovely staff, great breakfast, fantastic location.
Location at harbour front (though a bit noisy at night) in the old town, just a few steps from Castle and Nobel Prize Museum. Amazing view, great breakfast (incl glutefree options - even pancakes), very nice staff.
It is a historical building so you have to take into account noise levels frim next door rooms (eg snorring) and outdoors (loading at street, etc). Public transport is a short walk.
When we arrived very early in the morning, the lady at the reception was really kind and considerate. We were offered an early room next to the reception, but we decided not to take it, as the children move between our two rooms and the reception area was used as a coffee lounge for other guests.
Our holiday turned into a major disappointment because the Standard Queen rooms are advertised by photos of a different category. Based on the images of Standard Queen, we expected rooms respecting the building’s historical character: small, high-ceilinged, royal style furnished with proper windows and beautiful curtains. In reality, Standard Queen means attic rooms on 5th and 6th floors. The 140 cm “wide double bed" can only be entered from one side, the window is stamp-sized and you have to watch out the low ceiling beams. In one of our two rooms, the shower was 55 cm wide, causing the shower curtain wrap around the body while the hot water pipe burned the leg on the other side. Because of short cord, the kettle could only be used on the floor. There are already many reviews at Booking.com about the same misleading marketing. I find it hard to understand why the 5th and 6th floors couldn't be honestly marketed and sold f.ex as "an attic Karlsson på taket -experience next to the royal palace?" Feeling deceived cannot be repaired when it comes to the success of a holiday.
