Comfortable room, nice bathroom, good breakfast and a nice location just by the water

The breakfast was included but not too good, the choice was amazing, but we the scrambled eggs way too watery , the bacon was baked too long. And the coffee was somewhat poor. I sound spoiled I guess I am a little spoiled (especially my teenage children who have been in many hotels so they can compare well)I loved the granola with yoghurt, but hey that recipe can never failThe view of the lake, the train station so nearby , Saltsjobaden is pretty. It was all good!!

Location, breakfast and property grounds . Views were amazing and area was beautiful and nice to walk around.

Room was very warm. Could not open windows to cool off room while we were out because it was ground floor so not secure to leave open. We asked for a fan and were told they didn't have any (they did check so I assume they ran out). Room was small and not very private as we were on ground floor and there were walking paths by the windows.

An affordable ($50) uber drive from Stockholm, Var Gard was a world away. It felt like a place that primarily Swedes visit on repeat annual vacations, reminded me of small towns on the coast of Maine. The views were sublime.

The ice cream stand could have been open! Also, from the photos i saw online i had the mistaken impression that the cute little structure on the dock was the sauna, it is not.

Stunning views and peaceful location. Really nice breakfast room with option to sit outside on terrace. The sauna and beach area were lovely. Very relaxing to lay on the wooden loungers by the water in the sunshine and to walk around the little forest island. The breakfast was excellent. Bed was comfy. Lots of nice areas to sit and chill.

Had to pay extra to use the sauna. The room was pretty basic. Would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities but they did lend me a kettle. Not much to do in the area if the weather is bad.

Paid to upgrade to a room with all view that had double beds even though I booked a room with a queen - minor inconvenience but would have liked to know.

I had a great stay and really enjoyed the location, the sauna and the little gym.

Exceptional service and location. Very close to Stockholm, yet quite far away to enjoy the countryside’s beautifully green and blue colors with clear air and gorgeous food. The in-house bakery offers great selection of delicacies and products for the restaurant and breakfast.

Var gard is beautiful, the house and the grounds. The breakfast in itself was amazing and being able to have it on the terrace amazing.

My daughter and I had a lovely time here. We swam every day in the sea and explored the beautiful surroundings. The hotel itself was great and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Beautiful setting and great views across the water. Calm atmosphere inside and out. Very helpful staff. A really relaxing break.

Beautiful location, great food at breakfast and dinner, super comfy beds, lovely mix of games to play (ping ping, table fusball, pool etc), great shower products, lovely sauna, highly recommend.

Great location. We loved the swimming pier. Very nice bar. Good restaurant which could, however, offer some a broader kids menu. Breakfast was awesome. Junior suites were great for a family with small kids. Moskito protection at the windows would be a great addition.

Location!! Service, atmosphere. Sauna + swim is excellent. Nice area to bike, run, walk, swim, sup etc. Rooms are not very special but have everything you need and you can use all outside and inside facilities to enjoy your stay, which is excellent. Breakfast is very good too. And in 20 minutes with taxi or 45 with bus you’re in the center of Stockholm.

Taxi via reception was more than double the costs of an Uber. Scrambled eggs weren’t really eggs (as in 90% of the hotels these days…). And the corridors to the rooms are very dark, but spooky. White/light would be better.

Lovely location - by waterside, but easy access to Stockholm city centre. Facilities were great - food delicious and staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful.

The accommodation is a bit “functional” in style, but was clean and comfortable. Didn’t spend much time in room so no issue.

Breakfast was fine, sauna, gym were good, Staff was polite and helpful. Specials of the day in dining hall were excellent.

Room itself was substandard. Weird shower which left bathroom floor soaking wet, Water was not hot enough to have a comfortable shower, Room lacked a simple chair/table or desk, Radiators in room were non-functional (but staff did supply a space heater). Room lacked a closet as well.

Fantastic location, beautiful sea views, big territory, great breakfast on the terrace, a lot of places to relax, very good restaurant, comfortable beds. We met highly professional staff at the reception.

Too small room, no place to sit in the room except of bed and one chair, no fridge. If you put a sign “don’t change my towels” the room is not cleaned at all (we stayed 4 nights)
