Thon Hotel Vika Atrium

Location was perfect for where we needed to be. Parking garage just across the street. Decent breakfast.

Hotel entrance is very hard to find as it inside a conference center and not visible from the street. Room was spacious, while the bathroom was very (yes very) small. We stayed in January and our room was terribly hot and no way to regulate the temperature. A very small part of the window could be opened, but since it opened into the atrium there was no fresh air anyway.

I had a spacious room with desk, sofa and chair. There was an enclosed shower stall in the bathroom, hence no water flowing on the bathroom floor. My room, and the facilities in general were very clean. The lift is card activated for security reasons. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast room was spacious and attractive and the breakfast selection was quite good. The hotel's location is excellent in that it is a stone's throw from Aker Brygge, a waterfront residential and commercial area with numerous cafes, bars and restaurants.

There was a clothes rack and an ample number of clothes hangers in my room, but no closet space. Hence, much of the clothes stayed in the suitcase. Apart from the breakfast room, there is no restaurant for hotel guests. Hence, there was no food, snacks or coffee to be had there after breakfast. There was no telephone in my room, something that could be a problem for seniors during an emergency.

I really like the Vika Atrium as it has the perfect position to the public transport and the shore side.Super for business and evening activity. And a tremendous breakfast. Even better since the "upgrade" last summer

The best of this stay was the breakfast and the location of the Hotel.

First thing was that this hotel is having major construction ongoing and noisy work is starting at 7:00am weekdays. I was not aware about this before booking but got a message after I have already booked a non-cancellable room. That is not fair.But absolutely unacceptable during this stay was the noisy room - we had 2 nights with little to no sleep due to AC ventilator noise inside the room which we could not turn off. We informed the staff but they could not solve this issue for 2 nights. I have to say that the staff was very friendly and tried to help us, it was not in their control but our stay was not what we would have wished for.

The location is greate, walking distance to the center.

Hotel was renovating and they let us know about that just 5 days before we came.

Building works were extremely intrusive , no restaurant or bar facilities because of this and cables / workmen everywhere with no hazard signs

Ok room - clean and all you need was available. Cooled as well (hot summer days in Norway ;) )

At the time of our booking, they were some constructions works ongoing and despite that the receptionist did a great effort to minimize the troubles, we got a wakeup call at 0700 with a symphony of hammer noises and drills.

Oh my goodness, the bed felt like a cloud after 36 hours of travel!

A little bit of noise due to construction in the atrium area, but we were pre-warned and it didn't happen during the night.

The hotel is located in a walk distance from the train station and the ferry harbor. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet offered a large selection, everything was very good and fresh.Room was comfortable and modern.

The only downside during my stay was the ongoing renovation of big part of the building (rooms were not affected), but it should be finished soon.

Construction inside and out was not announced. We woke up from drilling noises. We had to walk to breakfast in an area where people wore helmets..The staffmember upon arrival was not friendly.

The hotel reception staff were extremely helpful and informative, and the breakfast room staff were very friendly..... definitely service with a smile first thing in the morning. We had a very comfortable room, with all we needed. This hotel is just on the perimeter of the harbour area, filled with fantastic restaurants, just a short walk and you're in the heart of Oslo.

Unfortunately, our visit to Oslo coincided with the building work within the hotel, so it was very noisy from early morning, and again in the early evening. However, I do recognize that the building work has to be done for the improvement of the hotel facilities, and it will be a magnificent addition when finished.

Unfortunately there is construction going on which meant drilling in the morning from 7am during the weekdays until 9am. It also meant a lot of dust in the hallway. Understandable but it would have been nice if extra effort to clean the hallway carpets had been made otherwise you just carry it into your room.

Some information and warning about the cost of taxis and scams and other local tourist information would have been helpful. The staff did assist me with sending a fax to the Bank to stop payment to a taxi driver which they confirmed was grossly overcharged
