Pros +
- Very friendly staff and a fantastic breakfast free of charge
- Breakfast was well stocked, breakfast staff friendly and available if needed. Easy to call for a taxi, 24hr reception or availability of staff.
- Location was good staff was nice.Breakfast was good.Room was clean. All together a good hotel and I’m happy with my stay.
Cons -
- Availability of a laundry service but not really affordable and limited to certain hours.
- Parking was a bit difficult to figure out. Water pressure in shower wasn’t high but ok.
- The rooms we run down. Not inviting. No grab bars in the shower and no bath math, so an accident waiting to happen. And quite small given the price.

Perfect hotel, receptionists were helpful and nice, very clean, big rooms, big bathrooms and comfortable bed. The location is just a 15 min walk from the center! Very safe neighborhood (like all oslo)
Everything was perfect
The receptionist was very helpful and understanding for my request to checkin early. I was recovery from the flu and needed to rest before my meeting. Thank you Johanna! (hope I spelled that right) :)
Nothing everything was as expected.
Wonderful breakfast and comfortable beds, great location
Nothing!
The breakfast buffer and staff. Veds comfortable and large bathroom.
The location is off and rather far from city center with no shops around. The room small, moldy smell and boring view. No desk. Awkward layout of hotel and one had to walk in outside corridors to get to the room. Felt more like a student house than a business hotel. No business center.
Amazingly good and healthy breakfast! Location was convenient and the rooms were clean.
The first night of my stay, a huge party was going on in a rooftop bar across the street. The pounding noise went on until 2 am. Thankful, it was rhythmic enough, and I was tired enough, that I could sleep, but I wish the sound-proofing was better. Other than that, the stay was great.
No fridge, no coffee machine, no complimentary coffee like they have in America, Germany, Taiwan, China, Sweden. So the atmosphere is a very cold one. Not like other countries (I mean feeling it was warm outside). You sold cheap machine coffee for a the price of gourmet coffee in the United States. You guys said do you want the room refreshed, which is poor attitude to try to guilt people into not taking services common in th rest of the world to maximize profits. When we said yes it seemed like the guy failed to make the no service sale.
Simply travel to other hotels around the world and realise many countries just do hotels better than you guys do. Coffee costs pennies there no reason not to have a free for guests latte/expresso machine available 24 hours. It cost something like $200 a month to operate in coffee and milk and saves your guests $1000s and makes them feel like millions. Not having it in the room is one thing not having it anywhere is not done anywhere else in the world I've traveled.
Scandic Vulkan was in a great location, perfect for wandering and exploring the Grünerlokka area, and walking along the River. We loved the delicious breakfast buffet, and the proximity to Mathallen - the indoor food market.
Great location
A lot of hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived . Staff was not very helpful with directions, etc
A nice hotel, reachable by a bus from the main station Oslo S, less than 10 min walking to the tram, next to Mathallen food court and a nice park with waterfalls. Very reach breakfast. Polite staff, good cleanliness (not the perfect), toiletries, an ironboard and iron in the room, comfy bead with remote controller for adjusting height (I didn't test it too much).
Nothing special.
Clean, well decorated and comfortable. Also the staff was very nice. Good location too!
Breakfast was very good. We liked the location in a less touristy neighborhood. There was a park across the street and a food hall with several restaurants in the same development. We liked the easy access to the pedestrian path along the river that we could take to get to central Oslo.
Minor annoyances detracted from the overall experience. The sink drained slowly. The headboard was not plugged in so we had no lights or power until we got that sorted late in our stay. The top kept popping off the soap dispenser so I switched it out with one in the shower. There was no way to exit n the ground floor where the food hall is located. The card slot for the power is located next to the bathroom instead of by the front door. There was nothing major wrong but the little annoyances added up.
Excellent location, clean, wonderful staff
- great location- accommodating staff- first class breakfast- comfortable rooms- good value compared to other places in Oslo
- All good although the conditioner wasn’t refilled for 2 days. Very minor point
Great proximity to a food market, river and restaurants. The breakfast was the best of any hotels I’ve visited. Most of the staff were friendly and very helpful. The price was right. Would stay again.
Location, size of room but nest of all THE BREAKFAST !!!
The air conditioning was set in 22C and would not go down from that. The comforters are too heavy/warm and we were sweating all night until we decided to take it out and just use the blankets.
Breakfast options are really good. We had pleasant tummies throughout the day because of a nice start with really good food. The location is pretty decent. Thanks to the great public transport in Oslo that provides good access to the city center from the location.
If you are planning during the summer, be aware of the heat coming from the direct sunlight to the rooms. Unfortunately, our stays were during those hot days, and we had a hard time sleeping comfortably because of the excessive heat. The room temperature controlling device couldn't cope up with the heat. The only option for us to have a good sleep is to take a cold shower right before going to bed.
