About
Set in Naples' most historic district, Hotel Il Convento is housed in an ancient building, dating back to the 17th century. Experience a quieter side of Naples in this neighborhood. This hotel is full of character and old-world charm. It is right next to the Convent of Santa Maria Francesca. Just a few steps away you will find the pedestrian shopping area of Via Toledo. The port is also just a short walk away with departures for Capri, Ischia, and Sicily. With free WiFi, each room comes with air conditioning and satellite TV, plus a private balcony. The junior suite features a floral roof garden where you can relax in peace. Getting around Naples is easy when staying at Il Convento. You can catch a local bus 164 feet from the property, or the metro from the Toledo Stop located a 2-minute walk away. You will also find lots of interesting monuments and churches in the area, and of course characteristic restaurants and pizzerias.

Pros +
- We had a wonderful one-night stay at this hotel in Naples. Even though our visit was short, everything was excellent from start to finish. The hotel stands out in terms of location, comfort, and overall quality. The staff were truly exceptional, welcoming, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They made our short stay very pleasant and memorable.Because of this great experience, I will definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Naples with my wife this October.
- We stayed for one night in Naples — my sister and I booked two separate rooms. The location was excellent and very convenient. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The lady working the afternoon shift was extremely professional and handled my small issue efficiently and politely. The two gentlemen on duty later were also very kind and welcoming. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
- Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was plentiful and nice quality. Would definitely recommend and would return again.
Cons -
- Nothing to dislike.
- The breakfast room was small and sometimes couldn’t get a table. You can hear everything in your room so if you’re there to sleep in you would be very disappointed as noise travels in the building but they do supply ear plugs if required.
- Some stuff is old-old and could use a revamp. Also the AC was hard to regulate as it pointed right into the bed!

Absolutely EVERYTHING! The best breakfast I've had in Italy so far. Friendly faces everywhere and superb rooms. I'll be coming back and recommend it to everyone I know. Brilliant job, il Convento. You are the definition of hospitality.
Nothing to dislike.
Excellent location. A few minutes walk from the metro, just off Via Toledo. Staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. I need a good breakfast, it was great, replenished all the time. Scrambled eggs, good vegan choice, müsli, cheese, plant-based milk as well as ham, salami and local sweet specialities.
Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room, with small balcony big enough to sit on for a coffee. Large bathroom, good shower and plenty of hot water. Excellent choice of hot and cold food at breakfast. All round we had a really enjoyable stay at this gem of a traditional, family run hotel.
We had a wonderful three-day stay at Hotel Il Convento and truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience in Naples. From the moment we arrived, the reception team — Nelo, Umberto, and Maria — made our stay special. They were incredibly kind, polite, and attentive, always ready to help with a smile and genuine care. They were absolutely the highlight of our stay. Our room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped with all the necessary amenities, making it both comfortable and relaxing after long days exploring the city. The hotel is located in a lively, traditional neighborhood that lets you experience the true Neapolitan way of life — vibrant, authentic, and full of character. Like anywhere in Naples, the area can be lively at night, so if you’re a light sleeper, earplugs are useful (and thoughtfully provided by the hotel), but this is simply part of the city’s charm rather than a drawback.Hotel Il Convento exceeded our expectations, and we would happily stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone who wants comfort, authenticity, and outstanding hospitality in the heart of Naples.
The location was amazing and central to everything we needed. Staff were very nice and spoke English which was good for us. Rooms were comfy. Coffee machine in the breakfast room was 24hrs and with a selection of pastries to choose from. Breakfast was a good selection.
The breakfast room was small and sometimes couldn’t get a table. You can hear everything in your room so if you’re there to sleep in you would be very disappointed as noise travels in the building but they do supply ear plugs if required.
The location was perfect, walking distance to all the must-see from Napoli and safe area. Breakfast was super nice too!

The hotel is in a great location in the Spanish Quarter (if you don’t mind the area being a bit noisy). It’s a beautifully renovated, stylish hotel in an old building. At the same time, it has all modern comforts and is very clean.
Nothing really, everything was fine.
Nice, clean room, comfortable bed, quiet place, short walking distance to major attractions, the host was very nice, friendly and helpful.
All good.
Breakfast, great options for different tastes. Location v close to metro station and in nice cultural area.
Should of stayed longer
Wonderful stay. Comfortable room, comfortable bed great location and very helpful staff.
The three gentlemen at the front desk made our stay more fun. They helped with taxis, directions and restaurants. While not extensive the breakfast cereals, fruit, cheese and bread were very good and fresh. Location in busy area but near most historical sites. Room was expensive (but I suppose reasonable for this time of year and location). All in all a great experience.
Can't think of anything
The location was fantastic. Right in the heart of Quartieri Spagnoli ! Felt very safe and so many little streets to explore. Had a cute little terrace with our room!
We loved the area, friendliness of the staff, and the room worked really well for our family of four
Honestly, loved it all. Maybe more outside room or a lounge area but we had a fabulous stay.
Personal attention fro the staff.Clean and tidy.Close to local restorants and a lot of students.
No parking close.Garage parking very expensieve - 50 euro per day.
A wonderful little hidden gem in an historic neighbourhood. Loved the quaint and charming breakfast room that was available to sit any time of day or night for complimentary teas, water and coffees of all sorts. Breakfast was plentiful. A hot pot in the room was a nice touch. The room was spotless and comfortable and we had a tiny balcony overlooking the festive street below. The staff was welcoming and accommodating and checked us in early. A simply charming stay in Naples Spanish Quarters.
Very quaint with ancient furnishings. Very helpful staff at all times. Breakfasts were ample with a great variety of local foods. The coffee machine was available free all day and excellent coffee! The staff were so accommodating- organising taxis and finding scales to weigh well topped up suitcases! Its location is close to major cultural and shopping areas and almost next door to an interesting convent with lots of bells and religious singing. The narrow streets of the Spanish Quarter are full of trattoria and bakers, pasta makers, butchers , greengrocers and such like! Very interesting!
Needed a little more storage in the room but otherwise perfect.
Friendly staff, good location, breakfast
