    Pros +

    • Great location, nice staff, balcony, basic but good breakfast.
    • the very kind staff, the sober furnishings, the top cleanliness and the comfort of the bed, as well as the location well connected to both the buses and the station
    • Typical Italian breakfast, served by pleasant, helpful staff.

    Cons -

    • The shower has a curtain and no shower tray. It's also very narrow.
    • The receptionist on duty when we arrived was very grumpy.
    • When we arrived, the employee made a point to say that they had contacted me and had to stay on late as the check in closed at 8, which was confusing because it clearly states 9 on the website? so they need to update their website instead of making customer feels bad. Do not ignore the comments about the noise like we did, we didn't think it would be that bad...IT IS SO BAD! constant honking, bin men arrive on the street around 6/7am which is so loud. When we stayed during May 2025, there is savage roadworks happening all down the street - the noise was horrendous. We barely slept for all of the nights.

We appreciated that the reception stayed open for us as we arrived late, I had received a few messages asking when we would be arriving which I did not see until later in the evening. The hotel room was a good size

Breakfast was basic but ok. We had to request items such as bowls and spoons, and service a little idiosynchratic. Reception staff were very helpful and the location perfect for access to the metro and nearby restaurants.

We have mobility issues, so the stairs up to the rooms was hard work. However we were helped with some of our luggage.

The room was fine, and the breakfast and personal, but it was not the room i booked, no balcony, no coffee no really desk. No excuses. I do not like to pay for something I don't get

I did not get the room I paid for, I would have chosen another place to stay if I had known that. But I don't know who betrayed me, booking.com or Hotel Mergellina

It's a perfectly nice building, I wouldn't call it modest. The staff does their best and I actually like the eclectic antique furnishings. The bathroom is acceptable, though showers are somewhat quirky. The bed is not my favourite kind, but if you like to sink into a bed, you'll like it. If you like a firm mattress and a high pillow, you won't. The location is not bad by Naples standards, but it is quite out of the way of all the sites and you will need to use the metro. Don't even think about a bus. You. Will. Never. Get there.

The real issues are twofold. One is the genuinely, stunningly, inedibly bad breakfast - it's Italy, reasonable food is the easiest thing to obtain! Why skimp on that, I don't know. It's baffling, but the coffee is bad, the yoghurts are grim, the juice is not juice (think orange-coloured gasoline), the cornettos they serve taste like stale yesterday stock they get for free from somewhere, there is precious little else to eat and the lady who does the breakfast is adorable, yet often confused. And now we go to the other big thing - the NOISE. Noise insulation is not a thing. Everything is an echo chamber. Quiet hours don't exist in Naples, where people like to shout just as a method of regular communication and nobody, but nobody EVER sleeps. This hotel is no exception, with the added bonus of being right over a garage which is used night and day and every time the automatic gate opens it feels like a mini earthquake. Furious honking from the main road doesn't stop until 2 a.m., and the lady who cleans and does the breakfast starts slamming doors and crockery and shouting exuberantly at everything at around 7 am. So, sleep is to be had between 2 and 7 am, provided it's not a Friday or a Saturday, a big Christian holdiay OR if nobody decides to use the bathroom or shower. Then, it's like they are doing what they are doing in your own room.

I stayed here in winter to explore Napoli, the location is very accessible to Mergellina station, also a close walk to the water front. I enjoyed my stay, the Madame looking after breakfast was so kind and friendly. The room had everything I needed. Would recommend if you plan to explore all day

The location is cool. Not historic Naples but close to the sea and Posilipo. The hotel is old fashioned but cute and the staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean and generous provision of linens. Breakfast is basic but the signora makes damn good coffee <3

A lot of guests have mentioned the room deodorizer/mosquito repellent device that really permeates the air. As in many Neapolitan houses it might be used to cover humid or moldy smells. We unplugged the device and left the door open shutters locked and that helped a bit. If the street gets noisy there’s AC and the windows have good sound insulation.

Great location - just a 5 minute walk to Mergellina metro station. Mergellina itself is a very safe, pleasant and upmarket neighbourhood with lots of good restaurants and bars. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The wifi was excellent. A very comfortable and convenient place to stay. For the price, Hotel Mergellina offers excellent value for money.

Very clean, good linen and towels; nice shower and room size. Close to metro/train station, restaurants, supermarket.

Very noisy street, ask for a room facing back. The mattress has to be changed. Breakfast could have some more healthy itens like cheese, natural juice and whole bread instead of sugary itens.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. They made you feel right at home. It was a great location close to the water, restaurants, and shops.

The shower was too small, not enough room. The PowerPoint's were old and had trouble with our charger for the phone.

The breakfast is a typical Italian breakfast. There are no savory options so you are free to immerse yourself in Neopolitan life as you awake.

If you are looking for the bustle of Neopolitan life just outside your window then there are places closer to town, but for me this was the perfect destination as the bus stop is just outside and the Metro is just around the corner. Most importantly for me there was a fantastic small supermarket opposite. I wish we had some of those where I live. You could get anything there as long as it was delicious. For me it was invaluable for sunlotion and water bottles etc. but they had the best delicatessen I have ever known.

Central location, clean room and comfortable beds. Quiet. Good size of the room. Very friendly and service minded staff. We got to check in early and they also arranged for breakfast early as we had a departure very early in the morning.

The hotel is located in a safe zone of Naples , and also at 4 min walking distance to the nearest metro station, so we could really explore the city. The staff are very friendly and professional, so from the minute we walked through the doors of the hotel, we felt really safe. Although Naples has a bad reputation we really didn't seem to have any issues. The bed is comfy , everything is clean, the AC works really well, so we didn't feel the torrid days of july. The breakfast: a surprise! A sweet lady brings you a good croissant and joghurt, ham, cheese and capuccino. You can choose also fruits or cereal. Really enjoyed our experience here??

    1. It can get a little noisy because of the thin walls( i think this applies to the most buildings of naples) 2. the shower cabin is a little small

I did not like anything, exept the cleaninglady she was polite.

The old man in the reception, was very very strange. He did not belived me that my doughter is 12 yo, even if the passport says so.The room smells cigarett, the breakfast was bad so we did not eat, poor english, ugly rooms, uncomfortable bed, bad location, not good service... well nothing good.
