Wombat's City Hostel Munich Werksviertel

the decor in the common area was so lovely & welcoming. i loved the atmosphere it gave - everyone was so comfortable we all became friends:) the staff were lovely and i also loved that we got curtains on each bunk bed for privacy! also a fan on each bed!!

the washers & dryers were expensive

The location was awesome! The bed was very comfortable, and I loved that there were automatic lockboxes for everyone and a small fan in each bunk bed.

The shower in my bathroom made a huge mess, as there was water all over the floor after my shower.

The hostel is right next to the S ban so it’s incredibly easy to get to the hostel and all over Munich! Washing facility, €3.5 for wash and again for drying (accepts €0.5 only - reception more than happy to split coins and notes). Breakfast is great. All the staff were amazing. Great kitchen with loads of seating. The bar was great. The beds are pretty much fully enclosed so are very private. There’s a small safe in the bed space with you and a fan that can be left on constantly or put on a timer - nice touch. There’s a larger safe under the bunks which fits a fairly large case. All in all, this is a really great place to explore Munich from.

The light from the bunk below also lit my bunk above. Solved by packing the space with clothes.

The breakfast was great it had a lot to offer. However, sounded very confusing the position of the things because it usually it's closed the food and the beverages. Café area and food area were both so far away that I thought Café was not included in the breakfast. The location was great, it was very closed to an active area in the city where parties happened, also the station was very accessible with regionals, u-bahn and s-bahn. Also, the transportation was close to many touristic places in Munich.

The Check-Out is very early and could be hard in a room with 6 people to organize and see that everything will be on time. Could be better the bath thing, like I've seen in some hostels that is outside of the room with many showers for men and women, I thought it would be effective. Sometimes was not effective this topic. The locker system was very hard to understand and my locker was closed because the password changed and it was really confusing, I had at the end not to really lock because I was afraid that my things were inside for a long time, and that gives a really bad experience to the traveling, because there're things to do outside.

Very easy check in, very friendly staff, cool area abd convenient

Very noisy area, lots of noise from outside the hostel starting at 5am. No coffee before 7am.

The staff were phenomenal! Even though I didn't speak a word of German, they were all so gracious and patient when communicating with me. The breakfast was delicious and cheap! Perfect way to start the day.

The laundry machines only accept 50-cent euro coins, and there are no cards, which makes them difficult to use. It would be helpful if Wombat noted that in their policies so that travelers can plan.

Very clean and tidy rooms, lockers, location, you have everything you need (except towels :D ) even a nice selection of craft beers at the bar. Ostbahnhof is nearby. If I need accommodation again in this area it would be my first choice.

No free towels

Very nice hostel, i had a dorm for 4 women, the bathroom was in the dorm . It was clean and comfortable. With a big locker under the bed and a small one close to the bed with plugs.Not in the city center but i went to a show at the tonhalle just nearby

Modern well functioning hostel with very nice common spaces. The room was nice, curtains on the beds, lockbox and sockets in the box next to bed. Good common kitchen and an excellent terrace where you can watch people do wall climbing :D

Not a fan of the self service on setting up and taking off the linen

Very clean, you can see that it is very new. It would be sad seeing in later years unclean.To all guests you are also contributing the cleanliness of this accommodation.

Kitchen should be cleaned by the guests after using it. It shows respect not only to the staff working there but also to other guests. I know most young people staying in hostels and I have seen so many lazy youngsters in my life.

Fantastic location - clean, close to fabulous eateries, bars, and the metro to get to the main square. Hostel is clean, lively, and has kind staff. Breakfast was great and so was the night bar/ pool scene as well. Wish I had more time here! Will def stay here if I return to Munich. More than enough storage for bags and suitcases, comfortable beds and comforters, and clean shared bathroom facility in the room as well. Eddys Rock Bar is nearby and super fun, would recommend!

Only the location

I don’t usually write reviews unless I have to. Would not recommend anyone to stay here. Just DON’T do it. Only relatively “good” thing was the location.Customer service was unnecessarily rude, on the day I arrived, one of the employees was already arguing with a customer. I was staying for almost a week and rented a towel for 2 euros. At the point of rental, 2 employees told me that I could change it however many times. 2 days later, another employee told me that I could only change once, if I wanted to change again, I would have to pay another 2 euros?? Even after mentioning that his colleagues said I could change however many times, this employee replied “who is the employee? No one said that, if they did they’re wrong. I don’t care what they said, you can only change once”. Incredibly rude and condescending.After checking out, I had to leave my luggage at the hostel as checkout was 10am and my flight was at 10pm. I was told that I would have to rent a locker at 5 euros (i’ve backpacked travelled a ton, but this has been the only hostel that has done this). I went ahead and when I came back, the locker i rented could not be unlocked due to a faulty system, almost causing me to miss my flight. Worst part was that the employee had no clue how to fix itNights were super noisy too with parties going on in the bar downstairs and club nearby.Do not stay here, just go elsewhere and make it worth your stay

Clean and well maintained. Appreciate that there is housekeeping everyday, so toilet was cleaned daily and bin cleared. Accessible common areas to hang out too. Fresh sheets are given to you before your stay. I also appreciate that there are curtains for every bed for more privacy.

It’s my first time leaving a review about any accommodation and It was by far the best hostel I’ve stayed. It is a state of the art and relaxing hostel. The staffs were very nice and friendly. The beds are comfy but you have to put covers on your own. There are lockers in your room as well! Such a wonderful hostel.

It was very noisy at night as there are some clubs and bars around.

Great location, clean room.

The bed sheets doesn’t fit so it was really hard covering the blanket and the mattress.

Typical level of Wombat's City Hostel. I am enjoying them in every city, where I can find :)Clean, perfect location, cheap, good coffee, friendly workers. Wow ?

The place is very clean . It's calm in the room , the Location is also good : lots of places to eat around and 2 minutes walk to the Ostbahnhof. The stuff are Always smiling and willing to Help . But what I liked is the good vibes .They have this space at the reception it's so cosy , a kitchen where you can Cook , they do provide raw noodels , spices , Coffee , Tea for free . It's the perfect place to make good Friends . I recommend it and it's now my Go to place in München ?

Cosy hostel in lively environment and good connections to the airport of Munich and other way around Europe.Privacy curtain at bed. Breakfast is good, also vegetables included.

I didn't like pillow but what else can you expect.. Have a great holiday that in the evening it doesn't matter where you put your head.Floor of bathroom is floating after shower.
