Friendly Hostel Zürich

It was in a Central place. Near to a tram stop. Very easy to go to Airport by public transport.

The location and cleanliness

You cannot do an earlier check-in and you have to pay for leaving your bags after check out.

I chose the room with three beds which I liked better than the larger rooms with more guests. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained.

There was a lot of street light coming through the window at night.

Very well located, immaculate, nice and cozy stay. Clam, peaceful, and positive vibes. very fresh environment.

Location. Ideal for solo and short Traveller

No elevator ? Not recommend for those who bring big luggages. You have to carry it upstairs on the 2nd floor by your own.

I had to check in late and the staff helped me through that process. Kind staff, clean room, clean bathroom.

One of roommates, an asian woman talking loudly in her language to another one later continued noisy pacing till 23.30.

The hostel was very cozy and well heated. It was also very clean, big bathroom, with no noise issues even though it’s located in the city centre. The location is amazing, right in the heart of the city, and you can reach almost anywhere within 15 minutes. The atmosphere was very relaxed, including at the reception. Lockers are available if you need them; you just have to ask. It’s a perfect place to visit Zurich while meeting new people.

It wasn’t a problem for me personally, but I wouldn’t recommend it for people with mobility issues or for those with large, heavy bags, as there are a lot of narrow stairs to reach the rooms.

The host was very kind, the location is amazing. I just stayed for 1 night but I really would be back again!

Location is so nice

I have a big luggage of 25kls and I bring it all the way from first floor to 5th and they dont have a lift.

I found the location a little bit tricky to find because I'm both still not that familiar with Zurich in many areas and my Waze app couldn't narrow it down enough (it said I was there when I was across the bridge near the police station!) but fortunately a very helpful taxi driver on a break pointed me in the right direction. But once you know, you know and I've tried to attach some images to help with finding the place, hopefully they make it to the review.The facilities were good (I was in the three-person dorm), the staff were helpful and the price was very reasonable. Was basically there overnight and left in the morning so there's a lot of the features I didn't see or make use of.The three-person dorm is comfortable, has its own bathroom maintained very well (shower is elsewhere) the bed I had (closest to the window) was very comfortable, please note the rules about the mattresses about making your bed and not sleeping directly on them.

I didn't have any problems with the stay.I was adjacent to a window overlooking the alley in the three-person dorm so there was foot traffic and a garbage truck collecting bottles which I didn't have a problem with at all as I'm a fairly heavy sleeper but just be aware of this which is unavoidably beyond the control of the facility due to its location.If the pictures I tried to add made the review are there, this should help but even if not, this description should hopefully be enough.Find the Hotel Storchen (large pink building). Face it in the square where you can see its name. Turn around 180 degrees and then head down the alley past the Luca Faloni clothing store. There might be a Swiss flag above the alley.It's the door just to the right of the dagsmejan clothing store, there's a sign which says Friendly Hostel in the friends TV show font.

The location was decent.

*I have booked my mistake in October while my trip was in June. Not their problem. I went to the hostel. The person could not speak English (and didn't even try). Maybe she doesn't need to, but it was difficult for me to solve the problemI had. The location was good, the place so tight, the bathroom... they would open the door at specific hour only. The WhatsApp number not working. They were fully booked, so i had to leave. *I have tried to message them later to ask if I could have a refund or maybe credit since the reservation was like 5 months earlier and they could still book it with someone who needs it. Zero response (Even negative that would still be understandable). Ignoring many messages.

Narrow staircase can a be a challenge for heavy luggage. You cannot lock the lockers with your own lock.

Location was perfect, it was amazingly clean and the hosts are serious about their job.

We are talking about Zurich, so incredibly expensive but eh, Switzerland.

The location was perfect! Very close to Rauthaus tram station where you can easily take the tram to airport. Beds were comfy, plus for not having bunkbeds (at least in my room) and a toilet in the room. Everything was spotless and the wifi worked perfectly in the room. The lockers with keys were covenient so you don't have to carry a padlock of your own.

A few things that bring down my experience a notch. I was traveling 6 months pregnant with heavy luggage and after reading reviews of this hostel not having a lift, I messaged the hostel in advance to know if there will be stairs. They assured me that my room is on the ground floor with no stairs. When I arrived, there were indeed stairs. I had to carry my luggage first to the second floor to reception (the other alternative would have been to leave them unattended outside on the street), then my ground floor room was actually 1st floor. Showers were located on the upper floors and linen basket in 2nd floor. So, a lot of stairs ? Also, I would have appreciated the privacy curtain to be all the way around the bed and not just one side, now I could see directly into the bed next to me.

Location perfect, rooms clean, nice terrace on top of the building. Comfortable beds and pillows.

The bathroom WC in my room keeps making noises all night and day

Excellent location.

There are no house rules, or if there are none of the other visitors followed them. Kept up till 4am by people stomping around and turning lights on and off. There is no AC so you leave the windows open which would be fine if not for the people on the streets. I left after the first night.
