    Pros +

    • Great location for Old Town... breakfast was awesome.
    • Great location, walking distance to restaurants, shopping. Parking onsite. The front desk staff offered us passes to the art museum - fantastic perk! Breakfast was good, the usual fare - but, with an attentive staff keeping everything fresh and neat.
    • Excellent breakfast. Good location close to the old town.

    Cons -

    • Our room was a little too hot at night, even though it was winter. We tried turning the temperature down but had to resort to opening the window, and there is significant street noise.
    • The breakfast was great, but maybe could use a little variety now and then. Maybe a featured dish every other day., like a choice of fried eggs instead of scrambled eggs.
    • Loved everything! Nothing to dislike.

The star of this hotel is the staff. They are warm, friendly and very attentive to the needs of their guests.

Perfect location. We did two long walkabouts to see the sights! Bahnhofstraße! Sprüngli chocolates. The Wow Museum. Easy walk to the train station.

We have travelled to over 50+ European cities, but Hotel St. Josef provided the best hospitality experience. Albena greeted us at check-in. She's so charming and made us feel welcome. We were booked for a business room in the main building, but she gave us the option of a larger room (Relax Classic) in the Annex next door. Albena let us see both rooms before choosing. We chose the very spacious Relax room. At any hotel accommodation, we look for a location close to the train station to/from the airport, cleanliness, a luggage rack, a wardrobe with hangers, bedside phone charging outlets, an electric kettle with coffee and tea provisions, a walk-in shower with good water temperature and drainage, toiletries, a magnifying bathroom mirror, a blow dryer, and a desk with additional phone charging outlets. Hotel St. Josef checked all the boxes and more 100+%! My husband loved the sitting area, featuring a comfortable chair, side table, and footstool cushion, all positioned right next to the window. I loved the long bench at the foot of the bed to organize all my clothes when unpacking and packing, and the floating shelves where I placed all the souvenirs I bought. The lighting gave the room a warm, calm ambience. The bonus for both my husband and me was breakfast every morning, which most of the hotels we stayed at in Europe did not provide! Breakfast sets the stage for a good day of sightseeing. The breakfast staff were so friendly and helpful. Our stay at Hotel St. Josef was our best hotel in Europe! Thank you!

    Loved everything! Nothing to dislike.

We loved the location! It is well located for the train station, restaurants, the old town....just a great location. We also loved the breakfast...with a wide selection of items to choose from. Our room was great and the staff was wonderful!!!

good location slightly away from the hub. Good breakfast.

rooms were hot and they couldn’t get them to cool down. No shampoo or conditioner provided in rooms. Pillows could have been softer.

We liked just about everything. It's a peaceful area and the hotel is very nice and clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

A nice hotel, fairly centrally/conveniently located, some 7-10 minutes walk from the main train station. Stayed there several times before. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good, plentiful and fairly diverse. The room was quite nice, clean and reasonably well appointed. The hotel even provided a free pass to the art museum of Zurich - which I was very happy to utilize.

On a hill, a bit hard to access with a suitcase

Very clean, great location and amazing staff!

The breakfast could have been slightly richer

I booked rather late in to a work trip in Zurich so my normal options were not available and I went with the St. Josef. Everything turned out fine! I slept well. I had a very large room in the annex building. The gentleman who let me in the first night was kind, as were the people upon check out. Other than that I had no interaction with anyone and I did not use the provided breakfast, so cannot comment. I loved the location, it was a 5 minute walk from the train, 20 minutes to my office and overall central.

My room in the annex building was very clean and seemed new. I believe they have recently remodeled this building. My take would be perhaps they did not use the highest quality materials (though the windows were triple glazed). You can hear any movement above you and in the hall, but everyone was quiet and in bed early so I slept super well. I had a street-facing room, but it was quiet in the end. The furniture, bathroom fixtures, etc were pretty low quality. My take is that probably this is an excellent value hotel for Zurich and a great choice, but since I had to book last minute and take a big room with a high cost, therefore the value ratio seemed poor since the facility itself good with the normal good value/low price. All that to say, i would gladly stay again in a different room and if I managed to book in advance.

The hotel is very cute. It’s clean and in a great location. You can get anywhere in the city by walking or by tram. Staff was very helpful. There is a massage therapist on staff which was a nice treat after a long day of sightseeing.

The hotel has laundry facilities which is great and convenient if you have been traveling for several days. However, it is just one washer and one dryer, so you may have to wait 3 or 4 hours to get access.

Convenient location, the staff is all women and they’re so friendly and nice. They run a tight ship! The breakfast was exceptional.

It’s 2 buildings - going down for breakfast required us to walk outside to the other building

Loved staying here. Greeted by friendly helpful staff. We had been allocated a room with stairs but the lady on the desk moved us to a room on the first floor that was more suitable. I liked the proactive approach and it was a relief. Great breakfast room with lots of choices. We had 2 windows that could be opened and had lovely views over the old town. It was very clean and serviced thoroughly. Fridge and kettle were a bonus. Such a great position to walk into Zurich, but removed enough to feel not in a crowded tourist area. Would definitely stay again if we could.

This hotel is located just on the edge of Old Town but it is within walking distance to the train station. It is also within walking distance to Old Town or the river etc. The rooms my friend and I stayed in were in the annex and they were very spacious. The bathrooms were also large and everything was very clean. All the staff we had dealings with were friendly and professional. Although we did not use it, there seems to be ample parking available. If I were to go to Zurich in the future, I would stay again.

    Staff and location

    Breakfast was below the average

The location of this hotel is great. It's right near the old town, easy to navigate to the major train station and local metros. There are great shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself is meticulously maintained. Everything was clean, the rooms were impeccable, and the staff was the most accommodating and friendly of our entire trip. They went out of their way to store our bags after checkout as we had an overnight train and even let us use the WC to freshen up before heading out. When we come back to Zurich, we will absolutely be coming back to the St. Josef Hotel.
