About
Hotel MOTTO is an independent Boutique Hotel on Vienna’s Mariahilfer Straße and a proud recipient of a MICHELIN Key. The hotel combines Viennese elegance with the spirit of 1920s Paris, with individually designed rooms featuring custom-made furnishings, rich fabrics, marble and carefully selected details that create a residential rather than conventional hotel atmosphere. On the top floor, CHEZ BERNARD Restaurant & Bar sits beneath the hotel’s striking glass dome and opens onto a rooftop terrace overlooking Vienna. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails are served here. Hotel MOTTO is located directly on the famous Mariahilfer Straße, one of Vienna’s best-known shopping streets, with the MuseumsQuartier, Naschmarkt, Spittelberg and the independent restaurants, cafés and boutiques of Vienna’s 6th and 7th districts within easy reach. Guests also have access to the hotel’s sauna and fitness area. Each room category has its own character, from the intimate Petit and Chic rooms to De Luxe rooms, Junior Suites and the distinctive ART Deluxe rooms.

Pros +
- Large clean and comfortable room with air conditioning (really necessary during the heat wave).
- Great deal! For what we paid we had a great location right on a popular street with several shops/restaurants, short walk to city center, complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good, and hotel was in great condition.
- Location was great. Good breakfast.
Cons -
- Staff was adequate but not super friendly. Most didn't speak English which made getting advice on resteraunts difficult.
- The room seemed very simple, however, we noticed that Austrian hotel rooms in general aren't meant to meet every little creature comfort. And for our purposes we didn't intend to spend much time in the room except to sleep.

I loved the decor and the quality of the finishes. The food and service were impeccable. The facilities (fitness area) were beautiful and relaxing as well. The location was great, though not central, public transportation was very close and easy to use. I loved the little touches in the room, like the toiletries and snacks.
The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of top sheets as I would get hot and sweaty at night and had no thin layer as an option. The wall along the sink under the mirror, did not seem clean.
Loved my stay! The hotel has a unique, beautifully curated décor, and the spacious room was full of charm. The rooftop is stunning — perfect for a quiet morning coffee with a view. The staff were warm and genuinely helpful, and the whole place feels both luxurious and cozy. Great location too. Highly recommended!
We wish we didn’t have to leave Hotel Motto! The design of our room was welcoming and beautiful. The shower pressure was incredible. We also loved the staff and appreciated their help during a stressful situation of a last minute flight cancellation. Highly recommend this hotel!
A fantastic hotel. I've been traveling to Vienna for more than 30 years, and the MOTTO is the by far the best hotel I've stayed in. The rooms are gorgeous, the beds are comfortable, and the walk-in shower might be my favourite ever. The location is also great, right next to the Metro and an easy walk to almost everything. The rooftop bar is also excellent -- quite reasonably priced for what it is.
I would have loved a gym, but there is a decent one 100 metres away.
Beautiful entrance and lobby. Wonderful room and very clean.
There wasn't a single thing I didn't like. The people were kind, the vibes were great, and the location was perfect. It was a bit of a long walk from the Belvedere and other museums, but nothing unmanageable.
The property location is perfectly situated near Mariahilferstrasse, had a close parking garage (hard to find in the city!), and is BEAUTIFULLY designed and decorated. The cherry on top is the gorgeous restaurant on the top floor with views overlooking the city. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
Everything! The style, the cleanliness, the location.
It was unique, stylish, and memorable. The bakery was out of this world. They even came around with a cart of free drinks to your room in the evening! You could tell every last detail of this hotel was well-thought out, and the customer service was exceptional.
Most things I wanted to go to were about a 15-20 minute walk, which was fine.
Lovely staff, unique funky decor, lovely rooms. The hotel manager made us all homemade cookies on Christmas and they were delicious and so thoughtful!!
If you like to leave your windows open maybe ask to be on the back side of the building. Beautiful view from the front but on a major bus route and is loud all through the night. It's mostly ok with the windows shut.
Great location to explore the city. Rooms were wonderfully appointed, beds super comfy & esthetic very appealing to the eye!Extremely close to Ubahn station too!
Shelf in the toilet room would have been nice.
The little touches were great. I loved the decor and the staff was so helpful.
The room was so hot. They turn the AC off in the winter and we had to open the window to the loud street below to cool it off.
My room was very lovely, the decorations are really nice
The bathroom had a very weird smell and i did address it to the staff but nothing happened. There was one receptionist that wasn’t very friendly, barely smiled and did not make me feel comfortable. Maybe the staff needs more training on how to be hospitable and welcoming. The location is not the best in Vienna. Most of the main attractions are almost 20-30 mins away.
This is a gem of a hotel in Wien Location staff and the location of the hotel is walking distance to great restaurants and bars The room was excellent I had a very quiet room on the top floor. Staff was always helpful with questions.
The hotel is situated on a large shopping street with everything you need and directly off the metro line which makes getting from and to the airport so easy! The rooms are gorgeous, every detail is thought of and the chic vibe was what we were looking for.
I liked having an individual comforter so that I didn’t need to share but it was a little too narrow - I would have preferred the next size up in order to wrap myself up in maximum cosy mode.
Great atmosphere, amenities, comfortable bed. Staff was very warm and helpful. Great location. Room was quite small but very pleasant. Wonderful spa and fitness room. Meals at Chez Bernard upstairs were wonderful, with a great view, and bread and pastries at Motto Brot just next door were fantastic.
The room was small and the toilet not located directly near the sink, but that didn't matter very much as the fixtures and room decor were so pleasant.
The location was great and centeral. The hotel is so beautiful and so are the rooms! The staff - Jennie and Johana we so kind, sweet and helpful!!!
This was a unexpected surprise hotel when it came to the interior decor and design. What a pleasant place to stay with amazing architecture. The rooms utilized every square inch with beautiful tapestry like wall coverings to hide the refrigerator, sink, etc. in what was a suite. Very conveniently located with an easy walk of approximately 15 to 20 minutes into the heart of the old city. The staff was very helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel for someone staying in Vienna.
