Pros +
- Old-fashioned and very particularly decorated hotel with friendly staff, especially the dark-haired lady. We requested a specific room and the hotel catered for this well.
- Single room is very small, which is typical for Europe. Stairs are narrow and thin, there is an elevator which was not working the day I arrived. I did not pay for breakfast at this hotel so cannot comment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was within easy walking distance to a supermarket, cafe and tram stop. The bed was comfortable and there was a TV in the room.
- I will never ever think to stay there again i don’t recommend
Cons -
- Room and bathroom felt a tad unclean and didn't have kettle or tea-making facilities which would have been nice when coming in from the cold.
- There was no coffee or tea facility for my use in my room which I do like to have. Noise travels easily as one night I heard thumping on floor above me all night and muffled voices all night.
- Uncomfortable bedrooms and old, worn-out furniture. The rooms do not feel comfortable, and the decor is comfortable and uncomfortable. The room is depressing and the mattress is very bad. There is no elevator from the door to the reception, and there is no person to help carry the bags.

The receptionist was perfect Breakfast was delicious
In our room the tube didn't work well
Everything was perfect ,especially the cleaning and staff in the reception if we will come again on Vienna the first place for us is Urania hotel!!!!!Also the decoration is amazing with portraits and classical style like you are in opera!!!
Friendly staff, great location
I booked a room with a jacuzzi to relax and unwind. The floor in that room is screed with epoxy, which is great to clean and takes no harm when It gets wet. However, it is stone cold and there are no bathroom slippers, not even for sale at the reception. This spoiled the otherwise pleasant experience.
There is a jakuzzi for two in the bedroom. Amazing! The room has a style too, makes it quite an experience to stay here. There is a place to chill when you like reading outside the jakuzzi :)
If I must mention something then this bed was not for me. The bed frame not comfortable when getting out. Also I prefer having 2 pillows. There was one, and it was very large for me. I probably could have asked reception for help, and I did not. They would have helped, but at 2 am, I did not think about that option.
If you’re looking for a stay that breaks away from the cookie-cutter hotel experience, Hotel Urania might just be your ticket to a whimsical escape. Nestled in a quiet corner of the city, this 3-star gem offers a surprisingly bold twist: thematic rooms that transport you into entirely different worlds.?️ Rooms with PersonalityEach room at Urania is a creative playground. Whether you’re sleeping in a baroque-style boudoir, a futuristic sci-fi pod, or a jungle-inspired hideaway, the attention to detail is impressive. The décor leans theatrical—sometimes bordering on eccentric—but that’s part of the charm. It’s clear the designers had fun, and guests do too.? Comfort & AmenitiesWhile the themes steal the spotlight, the basics are solid. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are clean, and Wi-Fi is reliable. Don’t expect luxury-level polish—some furnishings show their age, and the lighting can be more mood-setting than practical—but everything works as it should.? Breakfast & ServiceThe breakfast is modest but satisfying, with fresh pastries, coffee, and a few local specialties. Staff are friendly and helpful, though service can be a bit laid-back. If you’re used to concierge-level attention, you might need to adjust expectations—but the team is genuinely welcoming.? Location & VibeUrania is well-situated for exploring nearby attractions, with public transport within walking distance. The hotel itself feels like a hidden treasure—quiet, quirky, and full of character. It’s ideal for couples, solo travelers, or anyone craving a break from the ordinary.? Final VerdictHotel Urania isn’t for everyone—but if you’re open to a bit of theatrical flair and don’t mind trading luxury for creativity, it’s a memorable stay. Think of it as part hotel, part art installation. A solid 3-star experience with a 5-star imagination.
location, staff, breakfast setup
no a/c and no blinds to the windows make hard to keep sleeping in the morning
The room size was good
The staff is very rude.. the tv not working and when I called they didn’t care to help.. over price with very low value!
The breakfast selection was fantastic and the staff were quire helpful and friendly.
Our room could have been a bit larger as I paid the same, or more than others travelling with us and their rooms were much larger.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The location was nice and quiet and close to some great restaurants. It was also a great location to get around using scooters, and close to a beautiful park with the large Ferris wheel and amusement park perfect for kids.Because it was a 3 star, I went in with relatively low expectations, but reviews said it was clean and it was. It was really great for the price and I would stay there again.
I found our room decor dark, but that’s just a personal preference.
Really friendly staff. Room was clean . Decorations slightly over the top.
Nic old fashion hotel. Kind 24h service ?
No elevator to the reception. Also, there were a strange noise during the night. I think it was caused by the wall-mounted flagpole at the wall outside, which was unstable and squeaked in the wind.
The staff, especially Zena (sp?) were excellent, helpful and happy! We had an amazing stay and our room was unique and beautiful.
Good place nice little canal, there is a funfair 15 min walk from the hotel. Overall it was clean spacious, the staff were friendly and Good value for money
It is located a bit further away from the museums and places like that it was about a 45 min walk
Room with character.
Small bathroom breakfast very average
We stayed for a one-night transfer, and the hotel had a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a convenient location, making it a perfect stop for our brief stay
The gap between the wall and the shower window caused water to splash everywhere, making the bathroom a bit messy, and the shower itself wasn’t very comfortable
Very helpful staff (specially the gentle Lady with glasses).Very, very clean Hotel ! Good price. Everything alright.
Not in center but there is a connection with tram.
Friendly staff, location
Very small room
