    Cons -

    • AC can not be set lower than 22c which is still a bit warm for my taste.
    • I heard some noise from the other rooms through the walls, and I couldn't get the room as cold as I'd like it, but otherwise it was fantastic.

Room: I loved that the kids had their own separate, dedicated space within our one hotel room. This gave us all a little more elbow room. Location was perfect! 3 blocks to the heart of the centro strorico, yet on a quiet street surrounded by marvelous restaurants. Breakfast was lovely! There was something for everyone, and enough to get us off to a great start: pastries, eggs, bacon, yogurt, fresh fruit, and delicious coffee. Breakfast was included, coffee incurred an extra charge because they made it on-order.

I wish we had more time in Bologna!

Location was good and central to places. The breakfast had a good selection. Decor was welcoming.

Didn’t realize that the 3rd bed a chaise lounge/bed instead of a real bed

This was our second time staying here, we love this place. Central to all, staff is very friendly and accommodating.

    Localization

Many led lights on while all the bedroom is off. Hard to sleep. You can hear people on the corridor. The room is small.

    10ChapmanPosted on: 1-1-2026

The location of this property is excellent...only half a block off a main street so quieter and very convenient

There is a nice lounge/ bar area but no staff so unable to have a glass of wine or drink late afternoon or evenings.

    10KathleenPosted on: 12-12-2025

We had a triple room and it was big enough for us all to be comfortable. The bathroom was very large! Breakfast was good and the staff helped us store our luggage since our train did not leave until evening.

We wish we could control the heat as we prefer the room a little chilly.

    8ChristopherPosted on: 12-11-2025

Breakfast was very good. The room was large enough and very clean. Location was excellent. Staff were very helpful.

We could hear water running through the walls from another room or rooms. Very disturbing at 10:30 / 10:45 at night. At one point it sounded like we were in the Amazon rain forest. Maybe someone was taking a shower.

    The location

The breakfast was zero if you are vegetarian or vegan. Staff said 'arrivo subito' whenever asked for anything but they didn't.

Good location, nice hotel, Clean accommodations new updated

The bathroom door was annoying. Heavily spring loaded, slammed all the time. Otherwise the hotel room was very clean and nice.

    10NathielPosted on: 11-26-2025

The size of the room, the bedding, hot water, temperature control and cleanliness were great, add to that the terrific location in the center of Bolonga....this hotel is a great choice. We spent 8 nights and time flew by. Easy walk to the Train station several times and easily accessed Florence, Venice and Parma.

Real review. This hotel is better than your average tourist class hotel. Let's call it tourist class plus with elegance. The location is absolutely perfect for visiting the old city of Bologna. It's just on the edge of the old city center but certainly 10 minutes walking distance to all of the major sites including Piazza Maggiore. There are many bars restaurants and places for appetizers on the same block as the hotel and on all of the connecting blocks. You can walk on the side streets without any hassle from traffic to get to the main part of the city. The lobby, the floors, the bathrooms, the rooms, and the hallways are all finished in marble. It's a building that has been there for many many decades and probably a couple of centuries. Our room was very large with a marble dressing room and a giant marble bathroom and a very large marble bedroom, with a window overlooking the street. The exterior windows are soundproof and the curtains are blackout-type so you can get a great night's sleep. There is 24-hour service at the front desk and they are very helpful. Car parking is two blocks away at around $30 per night. Breakfast has both hot and cold foods in a large first floor, marble dining room and is much better than your average hotel breakfast.

No problems, just the reality of Italian travel. The hotel is located in the historic center of town. The roads are thin and there's lots of pedestrian traffic. The hotel is somewhat hard to find by car and hard to get to once the map tells you where you need to go. The streets are very narrow with pedestrians and restaurant tables. Once you find the hotel you are right in the middle of all the action which is great but be prepared because driving in and out can shatter your nerves. Additionally there is some major road construction downtown and that limits the choices of where you want to drive. But it's a nice hotel with a nice interior and very large rooms and good service and on the whole if I wanted something slightly better than tourist class hotel with a bit more service and a bit more elegance this would be a place that I would stay again without hesitation.

This is a lovely hotel in the historical center, close to everything you would want to see and do in Bologna. Our room was very modern, much larger than expected and well furnished. Great modern and large bathroom, too. Definitely recommend it.

Mattress seemed a bit worn and soft. The breakfast is very good but it seems there were not enough service staff for the number of patrons (this was in mid-October)

I lived in Bologna and have visited a number of time over the years, so I am familiar with the city, Hotel Cavour is an excellent location right in the center. There is major work being done to establish a tram line down the main street, via Indipendenza, and Hotel Cavour is right off of that street, but the staff managed to get me a taxi when I needed and I had no trouble getting to the airport on time, there was no noise from my room either. The room was comfortable, clean, tasteful decor, spacious. The breakfast had a lot of choices, I did have to ask a few times to get a coffee delivered to the table though, but I'm also impatient for my morning coffee. I would absolutely return to stay at Hotel Cavour, great place to relax while visiting magnificent Bologna!

This may be particular to me, but at breakfast I wasn't greeted or asked for my room number, and it took some time to be served a coffee on the two days I was there. The breakfast buffet was very good though!

    Location

The fact that you have to insert your room key in the wall to get electricity, but no one tells you this - and you can’t charge any device when you’re gone because you have to take the room key with you

Perfect location on edge of crowds. 5 min to everything. Would recommend. Staff spoke English.

    9DavidPosted on: 10-5-2025

They should be commended for an extremely clean hotel, everywhere I looked. Room was spacious, especially for Italy! The balcony overlooking the courtyard was nice. Apartment had everything we needed.

The front desk man was short and arrogant. He made it feel like we were an inconvenience.

    10MagdalenaPosted on: 9-28-2025

The hotel had old world charm but rooms were beautifully renovated. The complimentary breakfast was really good with a tremendous variety of food. Coffee was made according to your request. Staff was pleasant and professional. The location was really convenient as it was near the train station, Maggiore and the Main Street. Lots of good restaurants and shops. Highly recommend. It is in the city centre which is where you want to be. It’s not the cheapest hotel but you get what you pay for. This was worth the price
