    • Good location from city centre Very good breakfast

    • Good location for exploring York. Will be returning soon!

    Cons -

    • The rooms are outside of the main building and was difficult to find in the dark Shower in room wasn’t great
    • Stayed here many times before and overall very good. However on this occasion, we stayed in Room no.1 and the room itself in the town house was good, great size etc... but, the noise from the floorboards from the room above was horrendous!!No fault of the guests above at all, moving around their room as anybody would but we were woken every time any movement happened upstairs.Certainly something that needs addressing for any future guests.
    • The room was very old fashioned and small and had stains all over the carpet the tap was missing a part and there was hair on the bathroom wall

    Breakfast was great.

Room was tiny. Could barely walk round the bed. Shower was average.

Very comfortable, and central for our York visit.

The only small issue I had was the toilet was difficult to flush. I definitely would return. We love York.

    Location was okay

Hello,I hope you’re well. I am writing to discuss my recent stay Saturday 14th February. I have stayed in many Hilton Doubletree hotels and I have to say I have experienced better experiences in other locations when comparing our stay in York. When first arriving, we were disappointed of the general condition of the room having identified several holes in the wall. The decor was not in date and gave the impression of ‘tired’ which was unexpected as the rest of the hotel looked newly refurbished. But most of all, we had to stay in a room with no working radiator. This was bitterly cold with it being February. We consulted reception who firstly offered an extra duvet and then managed to get us a portable heater which still isn’t up to standard. We stay at Hilton Doubletree tree hotels as quality and a good customer service is promised and usually always delivered. However on this occasion, this was not the case. I am therefore seeking a refund I hope you can understand how disappointing this feels.

Great location, just a 15 minute walk from the train station and York centre right on the door step. Staff were super friendly and really helpful.

Room had a weird heating system (I think it was heating via aircon) which sounded like a rocket taking off every time we used it; so, we didn't use it... There were strange stains on the wall and the bathroom smelled like very used pipes. Massive TV, just wasn't connected to anything, nor was it a smart TV - so bring a PC and an HDMi cable if you fancy an early night with a film.

Reception was lovely and clean. The staff were wonderful and I can’t fault them. Location was great, handy car park opposite if theirs is full.

Unfortunately the first room we were given was dark, freezing and shabby. I requested politely if they had another available and the lovely gentleman on reception kindly found us one. However they were clearly having issues with their heating system and this too was freezing cold. Given it was February this was very uncomfortable. He did go above and beyond to find us a portable heater which we were very grateful for but for what we paid we expected far better. The shower didn’t sit in the holder properly and wasn’t very hot. The rooms are in need of some TLC and the lightbulbs really need to be brighter (and all working) otherwise; especially in winter it’s cold, dull and depressing. I would not return.

    Location

Rude, disinterested staff. Poor breakfast, lots missing and when asked for it to be topped up was talked down to. Felt uncomfortable at 9pm having a drink in the bar as staff set up tables around us sighing. Heater broken in room. Lights flashing in room. No curtains at the window so no privacy. Mentioned this on check out, to be told we would be refunded car parking - almost 3 months on still waiting for refund and follow up call. Check in was in efficient and very slow too, the only thing they were quick at was clearing tables and check out! Would definitely Not recommend. Steer clear for sure.

The staff were wonderful. Every interaction was a positive one, staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good - we stayed three nights and noticed some things did not appear every day (Nutella, for example, was only available for our first breakfast). We left our luggage and the service was great. I felt reassured that our things were secure as they were behind a locked door.We had a family room (40 and 42) and it was very spacious.

The hotel is a bit tired. Our room was chilly, as there were plug in radiators to compensate for the broken wall radiators. Due to the single glazed windows, it wasn't enough. Walls were patched and windows needed repainting, or, replacing with double glazing. Our room had a sofa and it was stained. The room cleaning was a bit odd - we got clean towels and beds made, but tea and cups were left. On one night we left out the sign to not clean our room to be environmentally friendly, as well as do not disturb. They came anyway (still no clean cups or extra tea). One day, I came back to the room and the door was ajar, which was worrying! Inside everything looked fine, but it wasn't nice thinking our things had been less secure after being cleaned. To get to our room, we *had* to use stairs. Not much fun with a suitcase! We were told at reception it was a couple of steps... they meant a couple of flights. Our room was dark, even with all the lights on.There were low beams throughout which was risky for us! Anyone over about 5 foot 4 would need to watch their head.

Conveniently placed for city centre.Customer service from Pip on reception after we were given a room with no heating.

First room had no heating. Second room had heating and was comfortable but light not working in bathroom, no shower gel ( dispenser missing) and toilet seat needed fixing.

Good location close to city centre

Room had temporary heater instead of air conditioning/ heating so was quite cold. Also bathroom had some mould close to towel rack which isn’t particularly great.

    Central to city

Damp, mouldy room. No working heating in room. Food poisoning by buffet breakfast. Our room was accessed by another family who were given key cards to our room - absolute shambles and no refund even after this happened!!

    location, breakfast, bar area

rooms felt very far from reception, lots of cold corridors, not always well lit, room smelled damp

The downstairs of the hotel is beautiful and spotless. The breakfast is always very good and the staff are very pleasant.

The bedroom this time and the previous stay are very tired. Mould in the bathroom, the sealent all peeling away. The bedroom was quite dusty and cold with the radiator broken and a small heater in its place. We have stayed here for the past 8 years for its great location to the city but with no updates to the rooms will be staying elsewhere on our next visit.

    Breakfast was good

Late check in time, and the hotel is a bit tired especially the rooms

    5MarkPosted on: 2-18-2026

The public areas were clean, modern and tidy. Staff were friendly.

Our room was not up to standard. The carpets had stains on them, there were loose floorboards, there was a grease on the walls and doors which got on my wife's trousers. At breakfast there was never enough food out at any one time, meaning people were having to wait for some things while other food were getting cold.

Nice breakfast and good selection of teas

The room was too hot and the bed was uncomfortable
