- All the staff were lovely Our food was delicious The hotel is in such a great location for visiting the city
- The location was great - breakfast was underwhelming- dining room was lovely, though!
- Great staff, great location, great ambiance.
Cons -
- Unfortunately our bedroom was very noisy Apart from traffic there was a constant banging, like a door being slammed every half hour or so
- Our room, 114 was on ground level with not only an area directly outside our window that people frequently passed through but apparently also next to the trash where glass bottles were LOUDLY dumped a few times during our stay- that was disappointing to say the least…
- The restaurant menu includes no chicken or salmon or even large salads for people watching their health.

Great staff, great location, great ambiance.

Location was excellent, only a short walk to centre of York.Staff were very friendly. Room was lovely, even though it was classed as a small double it was plenty big enough.Good selection of drinks, but odd numbers, 3 tea bag, 3 coffee bags and just 1 hot chocolate.I would def stay again.
Only negative I can say which I failed to mention at reception, was that the shower head didn't stay at the top of the rail, so ended up having to hold it while showering. This didn't stop the enjoyment of the stay though.
The staff are excellent, Henry who works the bar is a very polite lad, an asset to the hotel
Awful mattress in room 129, bathroom paint peeling off the walls, flooring coming up
Parking, breakfast , clean room
Central location and the room was delightful, very clean and modern. The breakfast was lovely - great service.
Location was good, room was spacious and comfortable and blackout curtains allowed a good nights sleep.
Bath/shower control was in need of maintenance as no cold water only very hot or warm and extractor fan was not working, but this didn't have an impact on our stay.
Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. I even stayed an extra night! The location was perfect. I highly recommend The Churchill.
Location was good. Staff was saving grace in whole experience. Pleasant and helpful.
Very small rooms and bathrooms. Shower was about as tight as it can get. Felt claustrophobic the whole time while there.
Nice room, friendly staff, good location for city centre.
£18 parking charge for a £155 double room no breakfast included. Restaurant food was very disappointing when we were given a warmed up Sunday lunch leftovers!! Replacement food ok but not the quality we had expected!!
Location, staff
Small room
The hotel is perfect for a city break and very conveniently located near the city centre. The small double room was well appointed and comfortable and was fine for an overnight stay. Hotel is warm, friendly and inviting...what's not to like!
Bottled water in the room would have been nice alongside the tea/coffee making tray.
LocationStaff was friendly
Pay for parking Nice insides but not as nice as price
Liked the excellent location; everything was walking distance close. Liked the outdoor patio and the whole inside facility.
The only small issue was the loud morning trash pickup. Would like to see names with dates of all the beautiful large portrait pictures on the wall by the staircase and bar.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Whilst the room was generally perfectly clean, the mattress protectors were badly stained - a bit off putting even with a clean sheet on top. I wasn’t informed that room only cleaned/towels changed etc on request, so a bit surprised to return to the room in the evening to find it in the same condition it had been left! Maybe I failed to read information somewhere that explained this.
Staff was wonderful, attentive and helpful.Room was comfortable and spacious.Quiet.
Charming property, great location on edge of town, friendly staff, nice bar / restaurant
No soundproofing in our room, likely due to being an older building. Heard noise from other guests throughout
Excellent location with parking. The hotel is beautifully decorated. Rooms are a bit small.
Hot! The hallways and room were extremely warm. There is no way to fully open the window. They did provide fans. At the time of our stay the weather was very nice outside.
Location to centre if York and convenience if on site parking
Fir breakfast we were given a rabid in entrance hall which felt like a passageway for food and other guests and staff making phone calls.
