Location was fabulation. Room was great and shower was awesome. Free parking in the center of town. Would definitely stay again

We had the family room and it was perfect for our family. Great location, parking, so cozy and full of personality.

I didn’t get a very necessary message about check in procedures, and the phone call I tried would not go through. Might be because we are from U.S.? We had to wait quite a while until another guest came along and called for us.

The inn is really central, very close to the Foss, to many varied food outlets and to supermarkets. It's also close to the bus stops in Stonebow so it's perfect for catching buses to Whitby, Scarborough etc.It's also very close to York museum, Clifford's Tower, the river and tha Shambles so you can walk to anywhere in York with ease.

Location is excellent, value for money at the date that i choose, although it was over double to triple that a week later. Not sure it worth paying that much.Very convenient also if you want food or haircut right next door

No internet for the duration.Paid parking charged for. Didnt spot that on booking.com but it was there. Place would be better if parking for free obviously.

Tired, shower didn't drain, thin walls, could hear everything from room above, even going to toilet

Small rooms over a pub, but clean and in an excellent location with free parking. The pub staff were very helpful and friendly.

The WiFi was not very consistent.

Very loose, noisy floors. Leaky shower, tiny TV, small room. Over-priced

The location is great.

The bed was full of spring's. The sheets looked clean but from the state of the room I can't be sure the were fresh sheets. The skirting boards weren't clean. Full of dust and dead bugsThe bathroom smelt of mold. There was spots of black mould. Red water marks. The shower wasn't clean. The shower curtain was disgusting. Moldy red water stains. The green towel I was left has white marks. It looked like bleach patches. It's also smelt of damp.I had no choice but to use the shower. The hair dryer worked but the attachment didn't fit The room window was fragile and had a fan outside which was very loud. The room is above the driveway to the car park and security gate. There is crack in the ceiling and more water damaged patches. The cup wasn't clean. The toilet seat is lose and needs replaced. The cleaning brush for the toilet was covered in dirty toilet roll. If I was the owner I would be so ashamed. I wouldn't let a member of staff stay the night for free. Never mind a paying customer. Now I know you get what you pay for.I paid £45 for one night. I didn't expect to be sleeping in such filth. The Watergate inn was fully booked. I didn't approach staff as I knew it was fully booked. Wasn't sure if there would be any point to approach staff. I had no choice to stay here as this was emergency. I went out exploring and didn't stay in the room as much as I could. I can't stress enough please don't stay here. Is there any point in trying to claim but the money I paid. It's not worth my effort. I will let them keep the money and hopefully with this review the will invest in providing a better service. You get what you pay for but I did expect the place to be cleaner than that.

Charm and comfortable. A great location. Beds comfy. Can easily walk around York. Yummy dinner in the restaurant below.

the people in the room above made so much nousexwalking across the floorboards you could hear them going to the toilet using the shower talking bed clothes were stained with bleach towels were also the same cheap pillows wifi and tv kept losing signal no ironing board no breakfast provided no housekeeping

The Watergate was a fabulous stay everything you need and more . friendly staff cosy comfy beds amazing breakfast just by the river in the centre of town couldn't ask for me . we will b bk . 10/10 a little gem ?

The bed was not very comfortable. Mattress was hard and pillows not the best.

Ideally situated in the centre of York by the river lovely room everything you need comfy bed clean fresh bedding very friendly staff couldn't help enough . Breakfast was lovely couldn't fault it . Highly recommend wel be back one night wasn't enough to take it all in . ?

The property was near to amenities. The room was fairly basic but comfortable.

The location, is great, the only problem we had was the bed was uncomfortable many another room would solve the problem we stayed in no. 14 .
