Pros +
- Hot tub , decor , location
- The hotel is unique and darkly beautiful. Very picturesque and well themed for a couples get away. The staff were amazing. The rooms themselves super comfortable and cozy. Would absolutely stay here over and over again.
- Fantastic location. We had the hot tub option which was incredible.Great sound proofing as live music playing in another bar but once door closed couldn't hear it.White company shower gel and shampoo a great touch.Comfy bed. Very secure and discount at Impossible restaurant. Plenty of tea and coffee.
Cons -
- Rooms were a little small for the cost
- Found hole in the bathrobeStain on the cushion outside the roomDespite messaging ahead our arrival I had to ring the bell twice and then still wait to be checked in. Not a huge deal but in full ladies day outfits and having walked from the races we just wanted to get checked in. Hot tub very hot on arrival but despite us covering overnight did not seem as hot the next day.Bed had no headboard and gap between bed and walls so pillows could slide down.
- Lack of storage for your clothes. No drawers, no wardrobe, no room for cases.Small clothes rail that if you use covers the only mirror in the room.No fridgeTiny bathroom!Shoddy toilet seat, sink tatty, sink tap virtually non existent. For the cost of the room, would have expected a higher finish.Terrace needed a bit of a clean, pigeon poo and dead spider, cobwebs.Stayed 2 nights, only certain things replaced in tea tray. Again for the money, attention to detail.Check in not till 4 which is quite late but need to be out for 11 on check out day.

Staff, very courteous and helpful.Bed & pillows, very comfortable. Slept very well.Hot tub, amazing! Temp, lights, built in speaker.Terrace, lots of room, comfy chairs, private.Complimentary chocolate orange, very nice touch.Location, perfect!

Such a fun vibe it was definitely a place I will return. Great location in the city centre. I loved the secret door to get down to the vault where I stayed.
Only thing was it was way too humid for me down in the vault. Not meant for the subterranean life.
It is unique. Location is unbeatable. Staff is cheerful and helpful. Great shower. Nice touches everywhere. Not noisy in our room.
Bath is crowded with small sink.
Location.
Lighting. Room size. Staff lack of interest. Facilities were poor, shower, sink, drainage etc.
Excellent Location. Friendly Staff. I parked at Marygate Car Park, which was roughly a 10min stroll. The main entrance to the hotel is rather discreet, and there is a buzzer to be allowed in. Very private from the moment I arrived. The room was as expected; small but very comfortable. The private patio and hot tub made for a much needed relaxing evening. The rain shower and good water pressure were also a welcome surprise. The bed was incredibly comfortable with the quality of linens I’d expect from a 4/5star hotel. Yes, the room is dark even with a window, but all the different lighting options made putting on makeup or getting dressed not a problem. I didn’t see another person except at reception. I wanted a night away from staying in busy hotels on a road trip and Impossible hit the mark. York was also incredibly beautiful. Perhaps I’ll return someday with a friend.
The bathroom sink was too small to be functional washing up, but shower made up for it imo. There was also a musty/earthy smell to the room that could have just been the way old buildings smell.
Great location…walking distance to everything!Onsite bar/restaurant were very nice!
While we knew the room would be “tight”, King bed was comfortable! Coordinating use of the in-room washing up sink was a bit challenging, but we managed.
lovely location and yet very private too had a lovely time overall
the hot tub played up which meant we couldn't really use it for half the trip which was a big shame but happy with how it was dealt with and will go again
Very quirky rooms, friendly staff, excellent location, easy check in, check out very comfortable and great price
Stopped in the dungeon room and the toilet was literally directly next to the top of the bed only seperated by a thin piece of glass ?
The front of house staff were very helpful. It was quiet in the room even despite the city center location.
The decor was lovely
There was no manual for the heating, no bubble bath for the show piece bath within the room, no robes or face cloth. No wardrobes for storage. And the noise carried from rooms next door was like couple was in the same room. We heard “everything!”
Location was great. Staff were amazing. We stayed on a Tuesday night and it was very quiet. Which we thought was great. We stayed in the red room and loved how quirky it was.Loved that the keycard allowed you to go in and out as many times as possible. The room was warm (stayed in april)We parked a 10 min walk from motel which was fine for us.
It would be fantastic if they supplied shower gel by the bath as its locked in the shower. Also another fun thing would be if they provided some bubble bath for the bath. (We went and purchased some from the little shop opposite)The pillows are very soft. So if you like a firm pillow definitely bring one. I did think the price would of been more fair if it was a tad cheaper we paid £190 i think £170 Would of been a fairer price for a term time tuesday weekday. Other than that the whole stay was fantastic. Another note if you vape or smoke (we vape) it's prohibited from the motel and rooms, there isn't any smoking or vaping area so it is a bit of a trek down 2 lots of stairs and out the motel on to the street to vape.
The location was amazing and the staff who saw to us upon arrival were lovely. The room was beautiful and cleaned to perfection.
The shower was sub par at best with lukewarm water and poor water pressure. The room was on the smaller side, I wouldn’t say the price of the room matched the amenities and size of the room however, nonetheless we had a lovely stay.
quirky and interesting hotel.Great location
As expected the room was dark , really no option of extra lighting. But the room was as described.
The whole experience was brilliant, we have already booked a further two stays!!! We stayed in the bank vault which was bigger than the pictures depicted, the pictures really don’t do it justice, the bed was super comfy, shower was excellent and the staff were beyond helpful. No issues with noise especially considering you are in the city centre, the restaurant was also top class as was the Pink cocktail bar, we loved every second and can’t wait to return.
Location
Tiny bathroom sink. Low water pressure shower. Felt tired.
staff were very polite and professional, the theme throughout the hotel was quirky and really cool, the room we stayed in was stunning and very clean, the hot tub was the icing on the cake no complaints at all, will definitely be coming back to stay in the future and will definitely recommend!
no complaints at all
Loved the location of the hotel. Very nicely decorated inside, really modern and very quirky!!
Very hard to navigate your way around because it’s so dark. Doors absolutely everywhere. Shame that more rooms don’t offer the hot tub facility!! Also think it’s not great having to pay for extras like renting bathrobes. Expensive extra and ours were only in the room for one day and stayed for two! Felt quite ripped off with that to be fair. We also had shower problems in the room and only got a few chocolates for the inconvenience.
