The sink wasn’t in the bathroom and the shower was too small

The Guest House was very easy to find and was in a great location for walking into the centre of York. The self check-in / check-out was very easy and straightforward.We stayed in the Deluxe Room, situated on the ground floor. It was both clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. It was very quiet at night and we had good quality sleep.

Everything was old - the wool blanket too; noisy from people walking upstairs, wood would make noise and wake us up

Only criticism would be the location of the kettle,would be better if the kettle wasn’t attached to the lead as we couldn’t plug in next to the drinks tray.

Great location for walking into town, warm & clean

Bedroom on the small side, okay for 1 night but felt small on the second

Staff were really friendly. Hotel room was clean and exactly as adveristed. Location was perfect, with plenty of parking just outside and only a 5-10 minute walk into the city centre.

Room was very small and there was only a bifold door separating the bathroom and bedroom which wasn't ideal, but you get what you pay for.

The communication and information sent through from the owners was clear, concise and very friendly. They were accommodating, prompt and personable. We will definitely stay here for our next trip to York and happily recommend it to friends.

Car parking was outside the property via a digital permit paid for in advance which is a great bonus. The accommodation was just short walk to city walls. The room was compact but sufficient for our overnight stay. We’ve stayed at this property several times in various rooms and will definitely return.

The single room was a little cramped but fine for a short stay.

Convenient enough location, easy check in, en suite room, value for money, nice and clean toilet.

The mattress quality that made for a very difficult sleep. It felt like a wobbly water floatation plastic mat. Getting to 4th floor with no lift was hard but I understand the old style of the house is part of its charm. It did feel though like just a small room in a shared house rather than a very comfortable city break.

Excellent location. Very good communication from owners. We travelled by car and booked parking via property which was very convenient and hassle free. Lots of little coffee shops, restaurants and places to eat and drink- all within walking distance. Comfy beds, towels and peace and quiet at night. We couldn’t ask for more when coming for nice city break! Highly recommended!

I had a great stay at Grange Lodge as a solo traveller.** The accommodation was comfortable, clean, and felt very welcoming. Its location is excellent — close to the city centre and within easy walking distance of the train station, which made getting around incredibly convenient. Everything I needed was nearby, and I felt safe and relaxed throughout my stay. A fantastic option for anyone travelling alone. I would highly recommend Grange Lodge and would happily stay again.
