This historic hotel, built in 1779, has free parking and an excellent location about 650 ft from Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth Harbour Train Station, Gunwharf Quays and Spinnaker Tower. Free Wi-Fi is accessible in the public areas. Keppels Head Hotel is an ideal base if you plan to visit the 3 ships at the Historic Dockyard: the Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860. Rooms at the front of the hotel have a view of the harbor. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the continental ferry port. Gunwharf Quays has numerous restaurants, bars, a casino, a nightclub, a cinema and bowling.

The staff, location, cleanliness and breakfast were all top hole. I had an issue which the staff dealt with quickly and without fuss.
Unique old hotel with a cool little bar
Location is superb - close to Historic Dockyard and trains. Breakfast was quite nice in a lovely historic room. Common room was large and comfortable - wifi was available in this room only. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean.

Cons -

I had an issue with my room (a piece of machinery in the vicinity cut in and out all the time keeping me awake).The Staff were apologetic and moved me to a different room which was excellent.
No control of temp in room
Could use a bit of an update in the decor, but was what I expected from other reviews. It is a very old building (faded lady), but was fine for our one night stay.

Location is superb - close to Historic Dockyard and trains. Breakfast was quite nice in a lovely historic room. Common room was large and comfortable - wifi was available in this room only. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean.
