- The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We made reservations for the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Cons -
- I wasn't impressed with the F&B at all. The Dinner wasn't particularly great, and the ambiance was brutal. Get rid of that TV and music (tacky). Breakfast wasn't great either but then I have never really had a good breakfast in the UK anywhere (and I travel a lot). The Bar atmosphere wasn't that enjoyable. Put someone on the bar who knows a thing or two about Scotch Whiskey. While the lad from Nepal tried,... he just seemed lost and couldn't provide any answers.Room Toilet would run for awhile after using.I had to wait for someone to check me in (they had to find someone). There was no one to check me out in the morning. Just left Key on Desk.
- It’s maybe a little worn out. Things like the carpets could be replaced & the exterior could definitely use some attention.
- The restaurant was very short staffed but we received very good service from the overworked waiter. Food was ok. Nothing particularly inspiring.

It was just ok.... nothing special. I didn't leave feeling like it was a great experience.

I loved the authentic pub hotel. The staff was pleasant. The rooms were clean & comfortable with nice additional touches like a Nespresso in the room. I would stay here again.

The room was beautiful! The bathroom was big and they had a cute bunny doorstop. The restaurant was nice. Service was friendly and helpful. Cute little town.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was comfortable, clearly in an older hotel so had nice archetectural details. Bed was comfortable.
Facilities could use a refreshing, like the dining room and bar which had bright LED lights, not exactly cozy. Dining experience was decent, but it seemed like it was understaffed for the amount of guests to cater to.
Excellent staff
Uncomfortable bed, room and bath need updates
Location and parking Good food and bar.
Little things not correct in the room. Hot water faucet was loose/broken, shower mat moldy, bathroom fan excessively loud, bed was missing proper duvets, blackout curtains missing. Yes, in retrospect could have asked for a different room, but after a long few days of traveling we should have been able to expect far better. Worst two nights of our 10 night Scotland experience. Staff was wonderful, but would not recommend.
Team were so welcoming after a really long day walking. Dinner in the restaurant there was exceptional. Rooms are well equipped and so comfortable. Definitely recommend this.
The breakfast was disappointing and overcooked. The bacon was like leather the fried egg had a rock hard yoke . Had to go back and forth for hot water for your tea . Never got our toast on the first morning until after our breakfast was finished.
I’ve stayed at the Garth several times before. It was local people that ran the hotel. The breakfast was exceptional,I recommend the hotel to several of my friends. Will not be doing so in the future. The only person that had any clue of what they were doing was the receptionist. She went above and beyond to help . Unless things improve I won’t be staying again.
The room was clean; the decor throughout the was to a nice standard; the food ar breakfast was delicious.
I stayed when the hotel was hosting a 'Grease/Dirty Dancing' tribute night. The music was extremely loud; there were no toiletries in the bathroom and there was no milk; at breakfast there was only one member of staff serving which was not enough for the amount of guests; service at breakfast was slow and chaotic.
Very welcoming on arrival, excellent room and fantastic shower.Room 18 was at the rear and very quietRoom was nicely furnished and very clean
Dog friendly. Excellent central location. Fabulous evening meal with a good choice of menu.
Comfortable weekend break at the Garth Hotel, staff very accommodating. Central location within walking distance to the High Street with a good range of shops. Well presented evening meal and tasty breakfast.
Very good location nice quiet room ar side of hotel room was nice and clean and warm
The shower was dated and very noisy
Food and service was good. The waitress was very nice, friendly and efficient. The chef appeared also to be the manager. Clearly very short staffed but he was trying so hard.
Room was fine, all clean but hotel was looking very tired. Stair carpets frayed and outside building not at its best. Only appeared to be one other person staying at the hotel and the place felt empty. Not sure what is happening there but it didn't make for a very comfortable stay.
The room was very nice, clean, fridge, tea making, towels, and size of room was excellent. The cooked breakfast was hot which was lovely, so many breakfasts are luke warm. Very accommodating as I am gluten free.
The fridge noise and the sink didn't run away properly.
